There are two types of animals:
Invertebrate and vertebrate animals.
Invertebrates are the
animals that do not have backbone
For example: ant, spider
Vertebrates are the animals that
have backbone
For example: tiger
Oviparous: they are born from eggs.
Viviparous: they are born from their mother’s
body
Vertebrate animals can be
classified in 5 main groups:
 Mammals (dog, cow, people)
 Birds (eagle, sea gull, parrot)
 Fish (tuna fish, shark)
 Reptiles (snake, lizard, crocodile)
 Amphibians (frog, salamander)
Invertebrate animals can be
classified in:
 Molluscs (octopus, mussels, prawns, oysters)
 Anthropods. They can be insects (flies, bees) or
arachnids (spiders, scorpions)
 Jellyfish
 Sponges
 Starfish
Plants are living things. They make their own food
and they reproduce.
They have stems, leaves and roots.
stem Leaf
roots
Trees: They have trunk and branches .
Trees can be evergreen or deciduous.
Bushes: they have a hard stem and branches. They grow
close to the ground.
Grasses have a soft stem. They are thin and flexible.
