3. DJ research
A disc jockey (abbreviated D.J. or DJ) is a person who mixes recorded music for an audience.
At the start of the new century, the introduction of
advances in technology made it possible for new sounds
to be developed. The introduction of the Pioneer SVM-
1000 Audio and Video Mixer and other high tech digital
sound mixers made a whole new culture of disco DJ
integration. The appearance of games like DJ hero gave
birth to the scratch-off contests. DJ Vs. DJ battles
imitating the events on the game gave the DJ industry a
more competitive phase. The DJ industry has become
increasingly about the atmosphere that goes along with a
performance. Now not only does the DJ show deal with
music and mixing but also lights and effect go along with
it.
The role of the disc jockey is to play music
geared towards a specific audience;
whether it be for those who love classical
music, pop, rnb, country, folk, rock, disco,
etc. DJ's also choose songs that will fit a
certain occasion; whether it be for a
wedding, birthday, award ceremony and
other social gatherings.
DJ's work in radio stations where they are expected to create
a daily play list. Aside from spinning records, they may also
add segments to the program where they interact with
listeners.
They also play music at local functions such as parties and
parades; some even get the chance to go on tour with famous
artists. DJ's who perform at local venues are expected to
have their own equipment such as turntables, mixers and of
course, a stack of records and cd's.
