2. Text Based
Games
o A text game was the first video game
that used characters instead of
bitmapped or vector graphics.
o The text based games were mainly
used during the 1970s- the 1990s. In
fact, text games are still used today but
have been modernized.
o However many educational programs
still use these games so that the user
familiarizes with the language or even
the computer for example
o While these first games were working,
new games came up but they were still
considered type based games since
there were images but still words or
numbers to control the game
o The text adventure games or
roguelikes (which are role-playing video
games) were still using text modes
therefore there were still part of the
category of text based games.
3. The first screen
computer game
o Although there were many example
before this game Space War was
consider the most true digital game
to be.
o This program was created by Steve
Russell in 1962 and it took about
200 man hours to create the first
version.
o Steve Russell was a programmer
and a computer scientist.
o The game ran on a computer
called the DEC PDP-1. The game
consisted of two space ships that
maneuvered around a star that
pulled at the spaceships with the
gravity
o The objective was to not collide
with the stars while shooting at the
4. Capacity: 8bits to 64bits
o A capacity Cartridge is simply a
removable enclosure containing
memory designed to be connected
to a electronic device.
o A predecessor to the cartridge was
the Magnavox home video console,
which used a removable circuit
board.
o Notable computers used cartridges
in addition to the magnetic media,
like the Atari 8-bit family
o Finally from the late 1970s to the
mid-1990s the majority games
were used with cartridges, but as
compact disk tech. came in most
companies who used cartridges
changed to using 64-bit CDs
5. size
o Well at first the physical size of
any computer game was
actually big this was one big
default that it had.
o Then as time passed Microsoft
or Sony came up with video
games that were much more
lighter and thinner such as the
PlayStation and the Xbox
o Now museums have opened to
show how the development of
video games changed slowly
over time
6. 3D Games
o 3D computer graphics which are
compared to 2D games have
graphics that use three-
dimensional of geometric data.
o 3D games rely on many of the
same algorithms as 2D computer
vector graphics in the wire frame
o there are differences. A 3D model
is the mathematical
representation of any three-
dimensional object.
o A model can be displayed visually
as a two-dimensional image
through a process called 3D
rendering, or used in non-
graphical computer simulations
and calculations.

7. controls
o Gamepads, Joysticks, Joy Pad,
etc... They go by many names and
came in various styles and sizes, but
controllers have always been
between the gamer and the game.
o Early 1970s (particularly Pong units),
the controllers were knob style and
were built into the console deck. The
controllers were constructed to only go
up, down, left, or right
o They soon created controllers that
you could be held in your hand, but
the controller cords were incrusted in
the console and the cord length was
limited.
o Finally they came up with different
wireless controllers and sensor
controllers
8. Gaming Addiction
o Gaming addiction is when a boy
or a girl plays to much video
games and then finally hurts
themselves by playing to much
o The result of being addicted can
be severe because if your child
is very shy playing a video game
will probably make him full of
pride since he will be able to kill
people or control armies without
having the real consequences in
real life
o The worst part of it is that at the
end they don’t figure out that
they are on the verge of having
a backache or a head migraine
9. Effects on gaming addiction
o When playing too much on a
video game of course there are
going to be consequences that
you will face physical.
o Here are some physical
consequences: Carpal Tunnel
Syndrome, this happens when the
main nerve and tendons become
irritated or swollen. This happens
when you use to much a mouse or
a controller.
o You will eventually have
backaches since most gamers
stay in one position for hours and
the lack of movement creates
stiffness in your back.
10. 2
o You won’t always physical
consequences you will also have
social consequences in real life
o There has been a test that video
game addicts who are married
50% of them have a problem with
there social life
o Lets say that your in the middle of
a game and your friend calls, you
just say that you will call him after
this mission but when you enter
the next mission you will promise
yourself to call him, etc.
o It has been proven that addicts
fall behind in school they don’t
play any sports and leave there
friends behind; Nowadays this
isn’t a rare thing it is happening.
11. Cure for Video
Game Addicts
o Scientist have now come up with
cures to stop video game and
have developed it on children
o The first thing you should do
according to a popular site is to
send your kids to a summer
camp or a wilderness program.
o You can also send your child to
physical camps like boot camps
and military training camps
12. The Most addicting Games
o There is one video game where
more than 10 million players are
registered and that is “World of
Warcraft”. It has been proven that
teenage boys in particular want to
play this game since if you get to
the highest level you get better
armor and lots of gold.
o Another game which is know on a
worldwide scale is the game Halo.
People have been making fun of it
by changing the name to
Halodiction. People have
admitted that they have played
19-hours on Halo and they keep
saying good things about the
graphics and sound. Some of
them even say that it’s like staring
in your own movie.
13. Minecraft
o Minecraft is set in virtual world
mad e out of cubes where you
have to survive by building a
shelter and to find food. It is
now played by 33 million users.
o There have been forums which
have been created to show how
it is addicting and people say
that it helps you figure how to
manage yourself in places that
imitate the Amazon, or the
Sahara Desert.
o I have played Minecraft and on
my opinion all it does is maybe
open your creativity a little bit.
At the end I stopped playing it
since I got bored and mad at the
game since it kept crashing.
