Results:
The results concluded that the chosen favourites sub genre chosen by the
target audience was ‘slasher’, which I am going to chose as the sub genre
for my own trailer. Almost all of the participants of the survey revealed that
they found the film had more of a ‘horror’ element if the killer was human.
They also found the film more appealing if the characters were in a similar
age range to them, making them more relatable; I am planning to keep my
characters in the age range of 18 – 24, so the target audience can connect
with them. The target audience also stated that if they enjoyed the trailer
they were more likely to view the film. Regarding location a more rural
setting like a graveyard or the woods were deemed scarier by the target
audience, suggesting they may have a fear of the ‘unknown’. I am planning
to produce my trailer within the following locations, this survey has
provided me with extra information on the audiences wants and needs of a
horror film giving me clear guidelines to create a successful trailer.
