Session 2 (8:30 – 9:00) Driving Question, using the Scope and Sequence to create a driving question

Session 3 (9:00- 9:30) The Graphic Novel and Visual Literacy Presentation
                       â—Ź                        What's the story behind the image and how does the presentation of the image
                                                make the message compelling?
                       â—Ź                        What is a graphic novel?
                       â—Ź                        What are the elements that make up a comic/graphic novel?

Session 4 (9:30 – 9:45) Turning Your Student Writing Into a Graphic Novel
                       â—Ź   Content: You will use your student writing piece
                       â—Ź    DDIH: Focus on events and places
                       â—Ź    Include factual information, a clear introduction and a clear conclusion
                       â—Ź   Form: Comic Book/Graphic Novel using Comic Life software
                       â—Ź   Genre: Non-Fiction or Historical Fiction
                       â—Ź   Composition: Putting it all together
                       â—Ź    Writing/editing a script from the narrative
                       â—Ź    Selecting images to help move story forward
                       â—Ź   Working with Graphic Novel Storyboard Template to create a blueprint for your graphic novel.
                           (Minimum of four panels and one page)

Session 5 (9:45-10:05) Gathering Images
                       â—Ź                        Use copyright free work
                       â—Ź                        Rename image files to reflect content
                       â—Ź                        Organize images in one folder on the desktop
                       â—Ź                        List images you want to use in your storyboard

Session 6 (9:50 - 10:30) Participants will create their storyboards with script and images.

Session 2 (8:30 – 9:00) Driving Question, using the Scope and Sequence to create a driving question Session 3 (9:00- 9:30) The Graphic Novel and Visual Literacy Presentation â—Ź What's the story behind the image and how does the presentation of the image make the message compelling? â—Ź What is a graphic novel? â—Ź What are the elements that make up a comic/graphic novel? Session 4 (9:30 – 9:45) Turning Your Student Writing Into a Graphic Novel â—Ź Content: You will use your student writing piece â—Ź DDIH: Focus on events and places â—Ź Include factual information, a clear introduction and a clear conclusion â—Ź Form: Comic Book/Graphic Novel using Comic Life software â—Ź Genre: Non-Fiction or Historical Fiction â—Ź Composition: Putting it all together â—Ź Writing/editing a script from the narrative â—Ź Selecting images to help move story forward â—Ź Working with Graphic Novel Storyboard Template to create a blueprint for your graphic novel.
