reasons to continue to live
Not conditional
Most people have them, and are motivated to
keep on living by additional such desires
Desire to live is not a categorical desire
2. Why EM is Bored
For EM to have a reason to go on living, she
must have at least one categorical desire
Because she has lived so long, she has had
and satisfied all possible categorical desires
Given her character, there is a finite set of
categorical desires that she can have, without
ceasing to be herself
