2. A little about Basketball:
• Passes: 3 types
-Chest pass -Bounce pass -Overhead pass
3. • Court: 5 different positions
1.Point guard: He/she brings the
ball and decides the play.
2.Shooting guard: she/he goes with
the point guard
3.Small forward: he/she knows how
throw far and near the basket.
4 and 5.Power forward and center:
normally they are the tallest and
they know how to shoot near the
basket. They are good defenders.
4. • Defence:
1. Individual: each player with her/his attacker.
2. In zone: each player has a position. If one
attacker comes with the ball, the nearest
players defend him/her.
5. Warm up
1.GENERAL WARM UP
Cardiovascular activity:
Run, or running with lay ups (20 lay ups each
side - right/left hand-) for 10 minutes. At the
end it’s better to speed up.
6. Articular movements: do all the movement for 20 sec.
Following the order. These are some, but there are a lot of
that you can do.
1. The ankles (you have to bend them and then twist
them –ankles circles-)
7. 2.SPECIFIC WARM UP:
-Circuit: with some shoots, springs, jumps and
bouncing exercises.
-Braids: 3 player cross the court with some
passes doing a braid. The last one has to do a lay
up or shoot the ball into the basket.
-Medicine ball: two teams. They have to pass
the medicine ball to their team and try to leave it
on the opposite line of the court. It’s like a match
but leaving the ball on the line and with limited
steps.
8. -Pilla-pilla: one player tries to catch the other
ones, but all of them are bouncing the ball.
-El pañuelito: this game is a little bit different.
You make two teams, each one on different sides
of the court. They choose a number, depending
on the numbers of players in each team. When
one number is said, the players with that number
have to bounce the ball to the other side of the
court and score. Then they have to keep bouncing
and give the ball to the person that is saying the
numbers(coordinating the game)
9. Main part
1. Bouncing exercices: to learn to manage the ball (like
passes across the legs, bounce with left/right hand, with
two balls at the same time…)
2. A match: 5 against 5. Here they practice some plays, the
positions in the court, blocks…
3. Competitions: in small groups, the players have to score
a determined number of shoots in different possitions.
4. Improve the technique: like passes, or bounce the ball,
changes, possesion…
5. Improve the physic: running and bouncing, jumps
throwing the ball against the board of the basket,
chunchs, jumping across a bench…
6. Learn new plays: new attack plays, new ways of
defence, how to serve…
10. Cool down
Time to relax:
1. Some games, like:
21 :a competition where you have to score, from
the free throw line, before the person behind you, if
not, you’re eliminated.
Bulb: a competition that consists of scoreing in
each part of the court ( all the lines in the zone area +
free throw line + triple line + behind the basket)
2. Stretching exercises for the legs, the arms and the back
(like the ones you have done at the beginning)
