The cell uses information from the mRNA to
produce proteins at the ribosomes.

5. STEPS:
1) Ribosome attaches to an mRNA molecule
in the cytoplasm.

6. 2) Transfer RNA
(tRNA): brings in
the correct amino
acid into the
ribosome.

bases on tRNA

complementary to
codon on mRNA

7. COLOR: AMINO ACIDS= BLUE, T -RNA ANTICODONS =
RED, AND M-RNA CODONS= YELLOW

8. TRANSLATION CONTINUED:
3) Ribosome joins the two amino acids
and breaks the bond between the amino
acid and tRNA.

9. 4) tRNA floats away from the ribosome which
allows the ribosome to bind another tRNA.

10. TRANSLATION CONTINUED:
#5) Process continues until ribosome reaches
the stop signal. mRNA and protein are
released from the ribosome.
