April 16th, 1755
-When her mother remarried, they
moved to Saint-Honoré close to the
Palais Royal. During this period
Elisabeth benefited by the advice of
Gabriel Francois Doyen, Jean
Baptiste Greuze, Joseph Vernet and
other masters of the period.
-By the time she was in her early teens,
Elisabeth was painting portraits

Queen Marie Antoinette
& her family over the years.
-Over a course of 6 years, Elisabeth
painted over 30 portraits of the Quen &
her family.

5. -During the French Revolution her
family & herself had to flee France, so
for several years she lived in Italy,
Austria and Russia where she was greatly
inspired.
-She was inspired to try new
techniques such as using thin coats
of paint to create effects of
luminosity & depth.
6. -During her life time she created
over 200 pieces.
