Chances
I rescued him from the wrath of gods
As a fireman saves a baby despite all odds
I thought I saved him from Hade’s lair
Yet self–absorbed Odysseus seems to be unaware
As people are when strangers represent them in war
They forget that without them, their death would be an open door
I gave myself to him and offered an island of paradise
Yet my looks were the only thing that would entice
It’s a lesson to be learned that beauty’s road runs short
2. It lasts as long as you readers have shown me your support
I had thought that I had found the rest of my life
As many young men feel when they find their wife
However heaven lasted for only a few days
For his eyes were freed from my tempting haze
Would you allow your new husband to return to his queen?
Even despite your jealousy behind the scene?
But when your husband is sorrowful and mourns for his mistakes
The rebirth-granting gods have shown that he deserves two takes
I am alone now with one thing to realize
Keeping lonely men from their homecoming is quite unwise
