LESSON PLAN FOR GRADE 7
ENGLISH
(SECTION: ADELFA, CATTLEYA, GLADIOLA, CARNATION)
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, 85% of the students are expected to:
a) arrange words in their degree of category through a cline;
b) use appropriate words in a sentence through making a cline; and
c) appreciate the lesson by actively participating on the activities.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
a) Topic: Word Cline
b) Materials: Visual Aid, Picture
c) Reference: gdrive.wikispaces.com/wordcline
d) Time Frame: 1hour
III. LEARNING PROCEDURE
a) Preliminary activities
a. Daily Routine
o Prayer
o Classroom Cleanliness
o Checking of Attendance
b) Motivation
- Let the students observe the picture above. Let them describe it.
c) Analysis
After the activity, ask the following questions to the students:
1) What are the similarities and differences of the three pictures?
2) In English grammar, how do you call words with the same meaning?
How about the words which are not synonymous but still related to
each other through degree?
Story: THE ADVENTURES OF DODONG
Once upon a time, there was a boy named
Dodong. He went to the city from their province to
study. One day he went to the mall to buy his
uniform. And then here’s what he found. Three
different but the same t-shirts. What do I mean?
Let’s find out.
d) Abstraction
Word Clines are related words placed within a slope to show degrees of
intensity, and arranging of strength, or how strongly they present an idea.
Examples:
Small GIGANTIC
tiny HUGE
microscopic BIG
e) Application
Read the list of words below. Arrange them in their order of intensity. Present
them in a cline.
In the adventures of Dodong, he felt…
1) giant, lanky, tall
2) strange, weird, peculiar
3) hungry, unfed, starved
4) nap, sleepy, asleep
5) I die, I weep, I faint
f) Evaluation
Complete the following sentences with its appropriate word.
1) May’s weather was ____ so Dodong went home to take a shower. (heated,
hot, scorching)
2) The towels were ____. (hairy, scratchy, rough)
3) “Dodong, what’s taking you so long!?” Dodong’s mother _____. (yelled,
mumbled, whispered)
4) He was about to go out when he heard his mother _____ the door widely.

5) He then knew that his mother is still ____ about his father’s death. (uncool,
sad, stressed)
g) Assignment
Use the following words into a sentence.
