3. Before we begin.. This session is for you if you want to know about Photoshop but don’t have a clue where to start. Today will serve as a starting place for you to discover the vast world of things you can do with Photoshop

5. Resolution and image size Resolution is the number of tiny squares that make up a digital image.

Resolution and image size Resolution is measured in DPI (Dots Per Inch) or PPI (Pixels Per Inch) High Resolution (for Print) = 300 DPI Low Resolution (for Screen) = 72 PPI Images saved for use on the internet should always be saved at 72 PPI because they are much smaller file sizes and the screen cannot display any higher resolution.

9. Resolution and image size Always remember to go down from High Resolution to low not the other way around Your camera will generally take pictures in 300ppi, but the settings will adjust the image size (Fine, Normal, Low)

12. Image editing basics Other Basic Editing: Manual Image Correction ~ Contrast, Brightness, Color, etc. ~ Click on “Image”, then “Adjustments” Or.. Just let Photoshop do it ~ Click on “Image”, then one of the Auto corrections
13. Image editing basics Now we need to save it 1). File, Save will save as a PSD (Photoshop Document) ~Can only be opened in photoshop 2). File, Save for Web and Devices will save as a usable image ~ jpeg, GIF, png, etc. ~ Can be used in all other programs
