“THE WORLDS END” IS A UPCOMING COMEDY
FILM THAT HAS BEEN DIRECTED BY EDGAR
WRIGHT. THE FILM FEATURES SIMON PEGG
AND NICK FROST IN ORDER TO CONTINUE
THEIR COMICAL FILM SERIES AS A DUO. THE
FILMING BEGAN IN SEPTEMBER 2012 IN AREAS
OVER LONDON, SUCH AS
BUCKHINGHAMSHIRE. THEY FINISHED
FILMING AT THE END OF DECEMBER 2012, YET
IT IS SCHEDULED TO BE RELEASED IN AUGUST
2013. A LOT OF THE MARKETING HAS NOT YET
BEEN COMPLETED YET IT FOLLOWS TYPICAL
CONVENTIONS OF FILM ADVERTISEMENTS.
PRODUCTION:
WHAT PRODUCTION COMPANIES HAVE BEEN
INVOLVED? WHAT ELSE HAVE THEY
PRODUCED?
Big Talk Productions has been the main corporation
involved with the construction of the movie “The
Worlds End”. They are an English film and
television production company that were
established in 1995. They have also produced other
films such as “Shaun of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz”.
All three of the mentioned films have been directed
by Edgar Wright, suggesting he is commonly used
and possibly works well for this particular film
genre.
CAST LIST:
                                 • Martin Freeman
WHAT ELSE HAVE THE CAST • Rosamund Pike

THEY BEEN UK BASED? • Eddie Marsan
                                 • Paddy Considine
The cast of “The Worlds End” • David Bradley
                                 • Julian Seager
includes the famous Simon • John Duggan
Pegg and Nick Frost. These • Thomas Law

have been based in the UK.
DISTRIBUTION:
WHO IS THE DISTRIBUTION COMPANY? WHO ARE THEY OWNED BY? WHAT
ELSE HAVE THEY PROMOTED?
“The Worlds End” is distributed by Universal Pictures and they are owned by
Comcast. Comcast is an American provider of entertainment and they are the
biggest cable operator in addition to being one of the largest mass medias.
Universal Pictures has also promoted a number of films:
• Notting Hill
• American Pie
• Bring It On
• Meet The Parents
• Bruce Almighty
• Along Came Polly
• The 40 Year-Old Virgin
• King Kong
• Nanny McPhee
• Ted
• Les Miserables
• This Is 40
They also co-produced with Working Title Films, which is a British film production
company based in London.
HOW MUCH MONEY HAVE THEY SPENT?
There has not yet been released an exact
amount on the distribution costs but it could
be estimated that a few million pounds
were spent in the process of marketing.
MARKETING:
WHAT TECHNIQUES HAVE THEY USED?
The movie is scheduled to be released on 14th of
august 2013 therefore advertising and marketing
has not yet begun. However, I should imagine they
would use similar techniques to similar films such
as “Hot Fuzz” and “Shaun of the Dead”. They would
have used the marketing mix meaning they would
advertise the movie to the correct audience. It would
have to be advertised in the right place at the right
time in order for the target audience to see the
advertisement.
TO WHAT EXTENT HAVE THEY USED
DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY IN THIS?
They would use a lot of technology in order to
market the movie. They often use movie
trailers in the cinemas so they reach a large
audience of people are interested in the
cinema. Shorter trailers can also be available
on social networking sites such as Facebook, in
addition to YouTube. Celebrity endorsement
from the actors themselves and others could
advertise the film via Twitter etc. TV
promotions would enable the film trailer to be
widely seen.
WHAT AUDIENCES HAVE THEY
TARGETED? HOW CAN YOU TELL?
The film has not been released yet.
