1. EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT INFORMATION OFFICE IN ATHENS
The European Parliament Office in Greece, in cooperation with the European
Commission Representation in Greece, organized an event dedicated to the
“Sakharov” Prize for Freedom of Thought, on Friday, December 4th, 2015, in
the Office of the hall European Parliament in Athens. During the same event the
pilot program "School Ambassadors" of the European Parliament was presented.
The “70 YEH” project was there!!!
Two students of the Greek Erasmus+ team, Katsigianni Sofia and Alexopoulos
Alexandros and project’s coordinator Mr. Koundouraki Eftychia, were invited by
the University of Piraeus to participate in this event.
2. Keynote speaker was the Deputy Minister of Education, Research and Religious
Affairs Mr. Theodosis Pelegrinis.
Members of the European Parliament, academics and journalists working on
human rights presented the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought which is
annually awarded by the European Parliament since 1988.
3. Prize Winner for 2015 is Raif Badawi, Saudi writer and activist, creator of the
website "Free Saudi Liberals". The President of the European Parliament Martin
Schulz will award the Sakharov Prize 2015, under a formal plenary session of the
EP on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, in Strasburg.
During the event there was a presentation of the pilot project of the European
Parliament "School Ambassadors of the European Parliament" (EP School
Ambassadors Program).
