Hinweis der Redaktion
Ask the audience if they know the name of the Rain Bird division that is responsible for Xerigation products. Answer: The Landscape Drip Division. Emphasize that, of the major manufacturers, only Rain Bird has a division fully dedicated to the needs of the landscape drip market. And that the Division appreciates the support that authorized Turf distributors are giving Xerigation products.
It Feels Great To Xerigate! That is the battle cry of Rain Bird’s drip division. Today, we’re going to talk about some exciting new products, effective marketing support materials and, results-oriented, sales-generating training materials that will help you feel great when you help customers to Xerigate. Our goal is to give you the tools to help you be a profitable part of the fastest growing segment in the irrigation industry — the landscape drip segment. So let’s drip on.
Rain Bird’s Xerigation line is a complete line, including: CONTROL ZONE COMPONENTS that control the flow and pressure of water into the drip zone; DISTRIBUTION COMPONENTS that get the water from the control zone to the planting area; EMISSION DEVICES that actually emit the water at or near the root zone of the plant material. And of course, Rain Bird’s complete line also includes tools - basically the 5-function XM-Tool and our PPC-200X pipe cutters. Why Rain Bird Drip? For starters, consider our: 3-Year trade warranty Friendly customer service On-time delivery Prepaid freight with qualifying turf order
Landscape Dripline We consider Landscape Dripline tubing to be new because so many distributors and contractors have never tried it. We have the 1800 Series of inline tubing, and yet the majority of our distributors have never ordered a single coil. For this, the Landscape Drip Division apologizes. It’s unfair to the marketplace to let this travesty continue, so we’ve made it very, very attractive for your distributorships to make Landscape Dripline your inline tubing of choice. So listen while we cover the basic advantages that LD tubing has over Netafim and other current competitors. First, Landscape Dripline is the world’s most clog-resistant, pressure compensating inline emitter tubing — with distinct advantages over Netafim that we will soon make clear.
Inline Emitter Let’s take a look at the anatomy of Rain Bird’s inline emitter. It has a sloped labyrinth that makes pressure compensation possible without restricting the size of the flow path. You’ll see how in a minute. Water travels through the center of the emitter, makes its way through the screen openings built into the body of the emitter and into the inlet of the PC, or pressure compensating chamber. The pressure compensation magic happens in the chamber and the regulated water exits through the outlet from the PC chamber. Then the water exits one or both of the exit ports drilled into the tubing material that surrounds and encapsulates the emitter body.
More Advantages Based On Rain Bird’s Cylindrical Design Ports First, Rain Bird’s inline emitter cover is welded securely into place so it can’t come off. This is not the case with Netafim. When you kink Netafim tubing at the emitter, you can very easily pop the Netafim cover. Anybody know why losing the cover to the Netafim inline emitter might be a problem? You lose pressure compensation, because the cover holds the wafer in place and once the cover is gone, so is the wafer. Not so with Rain Bird’s cylindrical design. In addition, two exit ports, 90 degrees apart on Rain Bird’s Landscape Dripline tubing eliminate the need for separate air relief valves for the inline tubing laterals. Again, use of LD tubing saves the contractor labor and materials. Another advantage vs. Netafim Fewer components in the system to malfunction, too.
Here’s how Rain Bird LD Tubing pressure-compensates without reducing the size of the emitter flow path. As pressure increases: The silicone membrane begins to push down against the sloped labyrinth, forcing water through a portion of the labyrinth As the water passes through this portion of the labyrinth, it experiences a pressure drop virtually equal to the pressure increase Pressure compensation is the result, and the outlet flow remains the same
Rain Bird’s flow path “lengthens” - It doesn’t get smaller At higher pressures: Membrane pushes down further against the labyrinth Water is forced through the labyrinth for a longer distance, effectively increasing the length of the labyrinth Pressure compensation occurs because the flow path effectively lengthens to create a greater pressure loss as the water flows through the longer torturous path. Increased grit resistance occurs because the cross-sectional area of the flow path is never reduced during the pressure compensation process the way it is with Netafim. In fact, let’s take a look at one of these Netafim inline emitters since I’ve been talking about it so much.
Netafim’s Inline Emitter and Wafer At higher pressures: The wafer pushes down against the groove that is perpendicular to the emitter’s single outlet hole at the bottom of the emitter. The higher the pressure, the smaller that groove gets. Yes, when the water turns off and then turns on again, there will be a flushing action. But why compromise when Rain Bird is more grit- resistant to begin with? In fact our filtration requirement is 120 mesh while Netafim is 140 to 150 mesh. So for inline emitters, a cylindrical shape offers clear advantages over a flat shape.
