2. Who is being represented in The eZ Life?
Zack:
In our opening Zack somewhat defies the classic stereotype of a drug user this
would make the character a counter-type. Various shots of serious facial
expressions and the clothes Zack wears make him seem somewhat distant from the
archetypal drug-user. This is good for our film as could intrigue people as the main
character is not everything that is expected.
Drug dealer:
In our opening the drug dealer is the archetypal drug dealer. This is made obvious
by using a hood to obscure the face and the stance we made the character use. It
was important the drug dealer was an archetype as we had only a limited amount
of time for the scene involving the drug dealer. Therefore it was vital that it is
obvious to the audience who the character is and what he is doing. We thought
that making the character an archetype was the easiest way to do this.
3. What is being represented in The eZ Life?
Drug use:
At the start of our opening sequence of our film the audience could
interpret the film to be glamourizing recreational drug use. This is
because of the scenes of the party are uplifting and everyone appears
to be having a good time.
However the film as a whole will do the opposite of glamourizing drug
use. As the twist is the drugs have the implication of making the users
zombies. The distinction between the representation at the start and
whole film is important is it will create a huge degree of shock for the
audience watching.
4. Where is being represented in The eZ Life?
Chelmsford:
Chelmsford as a whole is portrayed negatively in our film opening. As
the film is cantered around the implications of drug use we have
suggested in various ways that Chelmsford is rife with drugs. This of
course is not strictly true however it is necessary to establish our genre
convections.
Also the low key lighting in the streets of Chelmsford in the film
opening instantly creates negative implications for Chelmsford. This is
because people immediately interpret darkness with negative actions.
