9. Data Discovery & Classification for Azure SQL
Data Warehouse – (Preview)
https://azure.microsoft.com/en-au/blog/announcing-public-preview-of-data-discovery-classification-for-microsoft-azure-sql-data-warehouse/
Auto-discovery and recommendations – Underlying
classification engine automatically scans your data
warehouse and identifies columns containing
potentially sensitive data. It also provides you an easy
way to review and apply appropriate classification
recommendations through the Azure portal.
Classification/Labeling – Sensitivity classification labels
tagged on the columns can be persisted in the data
warehouse itself.
Reporting – Data classification can be centrally viewed on a dashboard in the Azure portal. In addition, you can
download a report in Microsoft Excel format for compliance and auditing purposes.
Monitoring/Auditing – Auditing has been enhanced to log sensitivity classifications or labels of the actual data
that were returned by the query. This would enable you to gain insights on who is accessing sensitive data.
10. Azure Front Door Service is now GA
https://azure.microsoft.com/en-au/blog/azure-front-door-service-is-now-generally-available/
Application and API acceleration with anycast and
using Microsoft’s massive private global network
to directly connect to your Azure deployed
backends means your app runs with lower latency
and higher throughput to your end users.
Global HTTP load balancing enables you to build
your application resiliently across regions, fail-
over instantly and offer your users an “always-on”
web site availability experience either at a domain
or microservice (URL path) level.
SSL offload at a massive scale enables you to
maintain security and scale to a rapidly growing
or expanding user base, all while reducing
latency.
WAF @ Edge offering application security against
DDoS attacks or malicious users at the edge
providing protection at scale without sacrificing
on performance.
11. Azure Backup for SQL Server IaaS (GA)
• Enterprise scale, zero-infrastructure solution
• Centrally manage & monitor backups on standalone SQL instances and Always On Availability Groups

App Service Plan – (Preview)
https://azure.microsoft.com/en-au/blog/windows-server-2019-support-now-available-for-windows-containers-on-azure-app-service/
• Reduced container size enables running more applications/slots within
your App Service Plan
• Windows Server Core 2019 LTSC : 4.28 GB vs Windows Server Core
2016 LTSC : 11GB
• Decrease of 61 percent in image size!
• Faster startup time for your application because the container images will
be smaller
• Faster app startup times with new, cache-based images
• Available in West US, East US, West Europe, North Europe, East Asia, and
East Australia regions
13. Premium Blob Storage is now GA

Data Discovery & Classification introduces a set of advanced capabilities aimed at protecting data and not just the data warehouse itself.
You can also use T-SQL to add, remove, and retrieve column classifications across all tables in your data warehouse:
Add/update the classification of one or more columns, add sensitivity classification
Remove the classification from one or more columns, drop sensitivity classification
View all classifications on the database, sys.sensitivity classifications
a scalable and secure entry point for fast delivery of your global applications.
Today AFD provides global coverage in over 35 countries across 65 metros and quickly growing.
15-minute Recovery Point Objective (RPO): Working with uber critical data and have a low RPO? Schedule a log backup to happen every 15 minutes.
One-click, point-in-time restores: Tired of elaborate manual restore procedures? Restore databases to a point in time up to a second in one click, without having to manually apply a chain of logs over differential and full backups.
Long-term retention: Rigorous compliance and audit needs? Retain your backups for years, based on the retention duration, beyond which the recovery points will be pruned automatically by the built-in lifecycle management capability.
Protection for encrypted databases: Concerned about security of your data and backups? Back-up SQL encrypted databases and secure backups with built-in encryption at rest while controlling backup and restore operations with Role-Based Access Control.
Auto-protection: Dealing with a dynamic environment where new databases get added frequently? Auto-protect your server to automatically detect and protect the newly added databases.
Central management and monitoring: Losing too much time managing and monitoring backups for each server in isolation? Scale smartly by creating centrally managed backup policies that can be applied across databases. Monitor jobs and get alerts and emails across servers and even vaults from a single pane of glass.
Cost effective: No infrastructure and no overhead of managing the scale. Enjoy reduced total cost of ownership and flexible pay-as-you-go option.
Customers deploying .NET Framework Applications must choose a base image based on the Windows Server Core 2019 Long Term Servicing Channel release or older, and customers deploying .NET Core Applications must choose a base image based on Windows Server Nano 1809.
Premium Blob Storage is ideal for workloads that require very fast response times and/or high transactions rates, such as IoT, Telemetry, AI, and scenarios with humans in the loop such as interactive video editing, web content, online transactions, and more.
Premium Blob Storage has higher data storage cost, but lower transaction cost compared to data stored in the regular Hot tier.
TiB = tebibyte (1.1 TB)
Hardened infrastructure resources: Azure Resource Manager templates are used to automatically deploy the components of the architecture into Azure by specifying configuration parameters during setup. The infrastructure components include Azure Firewall, Active Directory, Key Vault, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Virtual Networks with subnets, Network Security Groups, and Role Based Access Control definitions. Additionally, these resources can be locked by Blueprints as a security measure to protect the consistency of the defined blueprint and the environment it was designed to create.
Policy controls: Set of Azure policies that help provide real-time enforcement, compliance assessment, and remediation.
Proven virtual datacenter architectures: The infrastructure resources provided are based on the Microsoft approved virtual datacenter (VDC) architectures which take into consideration scale, performance, security, and governance.
Security and compliance controls: You still benefit from all the controls for which Microsoft is responsible as your cloud provider, and now this blueprint helps you configure a number of the remaining controls to meet ISO 27001 requirements.
Documentation: Step by step deployment guide outlining the shared services infrastructure and the policy control mapping matrix.
Migration runway: Provides a prescriptive set of instructions for deploying an Azure recommended foundation to accelerate migrations via the Azure migration center.
The Azure Service Bus Premium tier allows provisioning of dedicated resources for Azure Service Bus namespaces.
