Alexander Rodchenko was born in St. Petersburg Russia, and stayed in Russia
all through his life. He then continued to study art in Moscow with his family
after they had moved in 1914. he then spent the rest of his life producing
photos and paintings of Productovist art.

He took a lot of portraits, things of everyday life. I feel that he was trying to
portray a feeling of what it was like to live in war times in Europe. Though the
strange thing is the people in his photos generally look happy or contempt.

Born to a wealthy Jewish family, who was forced to move to Switzerland in
war times, he then traveled to America as soon as he was of age. He was
optimistic about the way of life but then soon saw it as very lonely and sad, so
he tried to portray that. He became most famous for his book about
America, which criticizes how we live.
