Motivation comes and goes like other emotions and should not be seen as something wrong if you don't always feel motivated. While motivation feels out of your control, focusing on what you truly want and challenging negative stories that are holding you back can help you do things even when unmotivated. Success is about focus, not motivation, so don't let distracting stories prevent you from pursuing your goals.
2. Not always motivated? Think there’s something wrong
with you because you’re not “up” all the time?
3. If you keep on thinking from that flawed
framework, life will continue to both a mystery
and a misery. “Feeling motivated” is an emotion,
and like other emotions, it comes and goes.
4. However, when you accept the fact, that motivation,
just like happiness and sadness, comes and goes, then
you can start to look at different ways to make yourself
do the things that you don’t "feel" like doing.
5. Your primary motivational filter should be this
question… “Is this what I want?” If the answer
is “Yes,” then your next question should be… “So what
story I am I telling myself, that’s stopping me from doing
it?”
6. Once you realise that you’re fusing to that useless
story, and that it is pushing you away from your valued
life, then you need to defuse from that story – you need
to stop taking it literally.
7. Getting what you want has to do with focus and not
listening to distracting stories that push you off the road
to success – it has nothing to do with motivation.
