The Complete Sentence
Three Parts of a Sentence
 Subject     what/who the sentence is about
 Verb        action of the sentence
 Predicate   tells us what action is about

          S   V     P
    The boy ran all the way home today.
Fragments
• Fragments are incomplete sentences. They
  happen when you do not have all the parts of
  a sentence together.
             v      P
           drove his car into a ditch
               S     V      P
  The old gentleman drove his car into a ditch
Run-On Sentences
• Sentences that express too many thoughts.
• They can be separated into individual
  sentences themselves.

 The girl wanted to dance all the time even
 when the bad news was given to her she still
 continued to dance.
Fix the Run-on Sentence
