THE IDEA OF THE PROJECT DERIVES
FROM THE PROBLEMS
The result of the survey we submitted in our schools
indicates that
1-Students think that poetry,drama and classics
belong to past, they are no more the part of
modern life and modern education.
2-They are bored with these books while they
are studying as a text in their lessons.
3-They don't think learning them necessary for their
education.
4-Those who like reading prefer the same kind of
books such as science fiction, detective stories,
fantastic stories.
5-Their interest with technology keep them away
from reading and understanding poetry, drama
and classics. They like surfing the net, playing
computer and video games instead of reading.
ALL THESE PROBLEMS CAUSE
1-Students have dificulty in writing about their
thoughts and making effective speeches in public.
2-They hardly understand the exam questions and
make comments on any issue and express their
ideas .
3-They don't know to be respectful to the other
opinions.
4-They cannot put forward creative or innovative
ideas as solutions to the problems.
So,we think that students will live difficulties
in their future lives and career in terms of
expressing themselves.
OBJECTIVES
1-enhance the reading poetry,drama and classics
habit
2-create awareness that poetry drama and classics
are part of modern life
3-provide educational success and work career and
lifelong learning
4-learn critical thinking
5-develop problem solving decision making
6-gain social and global competence and respect
7-gain self-esteem
8-put forward innovative and creative ideas with
qualified activities
9-support character development
10- create an area for students to use technology for
knowledge
11-integrate 21st Century web2.0 tools into the
lessons
12- improve language skills
13- realise cultural differences and accept as they are
14-teach the importance of Intercultural learning
15-observe and compare the EU dimension of the
project
16-understand the importance of group work with
effective communication and collaboration
17-break students' prejudice towards school with
the activities that they will begin to think that
school is a place which brings real life to the
classes.
All in all, we aim to open new windows for students
and teachers to broaden their minds analysing the
point of view of very important literary figures from
the World Literature.
TRANSNATIONAL MEETINGS ARE FUNDAMENTAL
FOR THE PROJECT
-to give space to the students, teachers and families to work
together with European schools for the activities.
-background and experiences of the partners will lead more
innovative approaches to the Project.
-students and teachers will get the opportunity of
experiencing the attitudes of different countries towards
poetry,drama and classics and to compare with their own
observing the European dimension of the project.
WE EXPECT TO GET POSITIVE IMPACT ON
STUDENTS
-So their perspective and prejudice towards poetry,drama and classics
will change,they begin to think that these works are the part of modern
education and modern life.
-We believe that taking part in the activities and reading different kinds
of books will lead students to improve their minds; their skills of writing
speaking effectively and understanding the other opinions and begin to
develop critical thinking.These improvements will reveal as competence
in every stage of their future lives.
-We are planning to enhance their wonder of learning and adapt these
literary works to their lives not only during their educational life but
also in their lifelong learning.Because we know that in every poem,play
and classic novel there is a message for reader to experience in their
lifetime.
ACTIVITIES IN THREE PARTS
A-CLASSROOM (COMPLEMENTARY) ACTIVITIES
1-CLASSIC LIBRARY: Project schools will found a seperate
part for the World classics in their school library
2-CLASSIC REVIEW / LET'S WATCH CLASSICS: The aim
of these classroom activities is to ensure
students'reading by creating vivid library in the
classrooms
3-MY FAVOURITE
WRITER/POET/
PLAYWRIGHT:Students
will present their
favourites after
searching about various
Literary figures.
4-ROLE PLAYS: Students will do role plays to live
the enjoyable side of reading.
5-WE ARE YOUNG POETS: As a result of
vocabulary study, and poetry code, teachers start
writing poem activity.The best poems will be
chosen for the poetry book and poetry contest.
6-POETRY CODE/ CREATION COMPUTER
GENERATED POEMS AND COMPUTER WORD
GAMES: Students will find the enjoyable side of
reading and writing poems.
7-STUDENTS ARE WRITING FOR LITERARY MAGAZINE:
Students start writing proverbs,,cinquains, anecdotes, jokes,
biographies for the literary magazine. A copy will be kept in the school
and city library. A copy will also be sent to the Foreign Languages
Department and different organisations in the city,
8-ESSAY COMPETITION : All project partners will announce the
Essay Competition, "The impact of poetry,drama and classics on
theatre and cinema" in their schools. Each project school will bring the
best essay for Students Exchange in Portugal. Project commission will
decide on the best essay among six participants and the student will
be awarded by the project coordinator in a ceremony in Portugal.
9-CLASSIC REVIEW FILE.Each participant will be asked to bring
the review of thier favourite novel.This file will be used in Literature
Avenue Activity.
10-OUR SCHOOL HALLS ARE TURNING INTO POETRY
DRAMA AND CLASSICS AVENUE :
Students,families,teachers will prepare poems,
quotes,biographies, posters of the poets,
writers, playwrights to decorate the school halls
collaborating with art and Literature teachers.
11-FAMILIES ARE READING : Each project school will
start this activity opening the school libraries to the families.
To stimulate students'reading, school library will be open to the families to
create an atmosphere for students,teachers and families to read together.
The participation of the families will be ensured through regular meetings and
follow-up schedules. So students and the families will be reading the same
classic within three months. In the end of each reading activity “Classic
Discussion Hour” will be organised by the project team with the topic "Did it
live up your expectation".
In the final part students with their families will join in mini Quiz Show to
answer the different questions about plot,setttings,time and characters
prepared by the project comission.
The winner family will be awarded by the school management and shared
through project website,facebook page and twinspace to be example activity
for the other schools in local ,regional,national and internatinal level.

THE IDEA OF THE PROJECT DERIVES FROM THE PROBLEMS The result of the survey we submitted in our schools indicates that 1-Students think that poetry,drama and classics belong to past, they are no more the part of modern life and modern education. 2-They are bored with these books while they are studying as a text in their lessons.
  • 4. 3-They don't think learning them necessary for their education. 4-Those who like reading prefer the same kind of books such as science fiction, detective stories, fantastic stories. 5-Their interest with technology keep them away from reading and understanding poetry, drama and classics. They like surfing the net, playing computer and video games instead of reading.
  • 5. ALL THESE PROBLEMS CAUSE 1-Students have dificulty in writing about their thoughts and making effective speeches in public. 2-They hardly understand the exam questions and make comments on any issue and express their ideas . 3-They don't know to be respectful to the other opinions. 4-They cannot put forward creative or innovative ideas as solutions to the problems.
  • 6. So,we think that students will live difficulties in their future lives and career in terms of expressing themselves.
  • 7. OBJECTIVES 1-enhance the reading poetry,drama and classics habit 2-create awareness that poetry drama and classics are part of modern life 3-provide educational success and work career and lifelong learning 4-learn critical thinking
  • 8. 5-develop problem solving decision making 6-gain social and global competence and respect 7-gain self-esteem 8-put forward innovative and creative ideas with qualified activities 9-support character development
  • 9. 10- create an area for students to use technology for knowledge 11-integrate 21st Century web2.0 tools into the lessons 12- improve language skills 13- realise cultural differences and accept as they are
  • 10. 14-teach the importance of Intercultural learning 15-observe and compare the EU dimension of the project 16-understand the importance of group work with effective communication and collaboration 17-break students' prejudice towards school with the activities that they will begin to think that school is a place which brings real life to the classes.
  • 11. All in all, we aim to open new windows for students and teachers to broaden their minds analysing the point of view of very important literary figures from the World Literature.
  • 12. TRANSNATIONAL MEETINGS ARE FUNDAMENTAL FOR THE PROJECT -to give space to the students, teachers and families to work together with European schools for the activities. -background and experiences of the partners will lead more innovative approaches to the Project. -students and teachers will get the opportunity of experiencing the attitudes of different countries towards poetry,drama and classics and to compare with their own observing the European dimension of the project.

WE EXPECT TO GET POSITIVE IMPACT ON STUDENTS -So their perspective and prejudice towards poetry,drama and classics will change,they begin to think that these works are the part of modern education and modern life. -We believe that taking part in the activities and reading different kinds of books will lead students to improve their minds; their skills of writing speaking effectively and understanding the other opinions and begin to develop critical thinking.These improvements will reveal as competence in every stage of their future lives. -We are planning to enhance their wonder of learning and adapt these literary works to their lives not only during their educational life but also in their lifelong learning.Because we know that in every poem,play and classic novel there is a message for reader to experience in their lifetime.
  • 14. ACTIVITIES IN THREE PARTS A-CLASSROOM (COMPLEMENTARY) ACTIVITIES 1-CLASSIC LIBRARY: Project schools will found a seperate part for the World classics in their school library
  • 15. 2-CLASSIC REVIEW / LET'S WATCH CLASSICS: The aim of these classroom activities is to ensure students'reading by creating vivid library in the classrooms

  • 17. 3-MY FAVOURITE WRITER/POET/ PLAYWRIGHT:Students will present their favourites after searching about various Literary figures.
  • 18. 4-ROLE PLAYS: Students will do role plays to live the enjoyable side of reading.
  • 19.
  • 20. 5-WE ARE YOUNG POETS: As a result of vocabulary study, and poetry code, teachers start writing poem activity.The best poems will be chosen for the poetry book and poetry contest. 6-POETRY CODE/ CREATION COMPUTER GENERATED POEMS AND COMPUTER WORD GAMES: Students will find the enjoyable side of reading and writing poems.

  • 22. 7-STUDENTS ARE WRITING FOR LITERARY MAGAZINE: Students start writing proverbs,,cinquains, anecdotes, jokes, biographies for the literary magazine. A copy will be kept in the school and city library. A copy will also be sent to the Foreign Languages Department and different organisations in the city, 8-ESSAY COMPETITION : All project partners will announce the Essay Competition, "The impact of poetry,drama and classics on theatre and cinema" in their schools. Each project school will bring the best essay for Students Exchange in Portugal. Project commission will decide on the best essay among six participants and the student will be awarded by the project coordinator in a ceremony in Portugal. 9-CLASSIC REVIEW FILE.Each participant will be asked to bring the review of thier favourite novel.This file will be used in Literature Avenue Activity.
  • 23. 10-OUR SCHOOL HALLS ARE TURNING INTO POETRY DRAMA AND CLASSICS AVENUE : Students,families,teachers will prepare poems, quotes,biographies, posters of the poets, writers, playwrights to decorate the school halls collaborating with art and Literature teachers.
  • 24. 11-FAMILIES ARE READING : Each project school will start this activity opening the school libraries to the families. To stimulate students'reading, school library will be open to the families to create an atmosphere for students,teachers and families to read together. The participation of the families will be ensured through regular meetings and follow-up schedules. So students and the families will be reading the same classic within three months. In the end of each reading activity “Classic Discussion Hour” will be organised by the project team with the topic "Did it live up your expectation". In the final part students with their families will join in mini Quiz Show to answer the different questions about plot,setttings,time and characters prepared by the project comission. The winner family will be awarded by the school management and shared through project website,facebook page and twinspace to be example activity for the other schools in local ,regional,national and internatinal level.
