It is extremely difficult for Doctors to have patients follow up visit details entered into the EMR due to the limited time available to see a patient, especially in public funded hospitals. Typically a doctor spends less than 2 minutes on a patient, during which time he has to listen to patients complaints, formulate a diagnosis & treatment plan and write down the notes in the patients clinic card as well as in the hospital record (EMR etc). It is precisely for this reason that computerisation of clinics has been cursory at best. By innovative use of Samsung tablet (with stylus) and intuitive software, it is now possible for clinicians to see the scheduled appointments for the day, individual patients previous hospital records, take clinical photographs & videos with built in camera, see PACS images & lab reports, write notes & prescription on the tablet using the stylus and get print out of the ‘handwritten’ notes for the patient- all from the convenience of a single device. This has the potential to revolutionize delivery of services in clinics all over India
