The IMPACTS mission is to improve the care of pediatric patients
through the use of specific education techniques and to provide the
opportunity to build fundamental relationships with local emergency
departments.
3. 3
The ImPACTS Core Belief
At ImPACTS, our core belief centers around a well-functioning team
that employs effective communication to optimize pediatric
outcomes. The healthcare team can be as intimate as two team
members or as broad as numerous multi-disciplinary teams working
together to address the needs of a single patient. It’s unlikely every
hospital will be staffed with board certified pediatric emergency
medicine physicians nor staffed with experienced pediatric
emergency medicine nurses. However, by building relationships
between local children’s hospitals who are experts in pediatric care
and local community emergency departments, our goal is to
breakdown barriers to begin communication earlier in the patient
care process. This enables doctors and nurses who encounter
children in an emergency setting to reach out for advice and
assistance from their local children’s hospital without feeling anxiety
and, due to pediatric patients’ compensatory mechanism, before it’s
too late. By meeting together we hope to improve care with the
identification of additional needed resources and improving that
early communication realizing it is vital for the optimal outcome of
the child.
4. 4
Our team is composed of pediatric
emergency medicine physicians and
nurses that will come to your facility
and simulate common pediatric
emergencies with your pre-selected
interdisciplinary staff.
The simulated scenarios will be
audio and video recorded for
analysis. Following the conclusion
of each scenario, the ImPACTS
team will conduct debrief on the
team’s performance and identify
areas of strength along with areas
needing potential improvement.

Some advantages to using simulation as a training tool include:
- Providing a platform to train for low-frequency, high-acuity events.
- Enables practitioners to operate in a safe environment, where mistakes are
not only allowed, but encouraged to identify areas of improvement.
- It can be used as a tool to improve teamwork and communication.
- Provides a systems analysis, identifying hazards and deficiencies in the
clinical environment (i.e. missing equipment, room layout, etc.)
Why is ImPACTS right for you?
- All our educators actively work in the field of pediatric
emergency medicine, providing you with the most current
trends and care procedures.
- No need to purchase an expensive simulator or maintain
one, we bring the simulator to you.
- Build personal relationships with your local children’s hospital
so if you ever need to call for advice, you can put a face with
the voice.
- The best part? The training is free!
