BuddyPress has released two major versions (2.3 and 2.4) since 2015 with many new features including a mobile-friendly profile picture uploader, companion stylesheets for WordPress themes, the ability to star private messages, improved handling of media in the activity stream, and member type-specific directories. Upcoming releases will focus on a group types API, REST API, invitations API, and potentially relationships functionality to expand the social features of BuddyPress.
