“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” Domenique Whitmore Senior Class Of 2010
Where it all began… In May of 1988, Miranda Vickers met Showtime Whitmore at 6 Flags Magic Mountain Theme Park… At 16, my mother then asked my father, 19, out… and in return he accepted….
After almost 4 years of dating and a long 9 months later….
I was born… Domenique Antoinette Whitmore On December 13th, 1991 at 10:42 am In Burbank, California
I was one spoiled little girl… I was the first born… The first grandchild… I was an only child for almost 7 years when… My mom told me I was going to have a new baby sister… My mini-me was born on August 10th, 1998… Payton Ireland Whitmore
The Whitmore house now had two little girls. But it didn’t stop there… Soon after my parents had my sister, the last addition of our family was made, 15 months later on November 11th, 1999… A baby boy, Jalen Annthony Whitmore
Payton and Jalen are two of the best blessings I’ve ever received. Although we fight sometimes because of our big age differences, they are two very special people in my life. They look up to me and I try to be the best big sister and role model I can be to them. They are like my little angels. I wish I could see them grow up more, but I know they will be just fine. They are awesome kids. I love them both to pieces.
I started dancing when I was 6 years old. When I was younger I had promised I was going to be a dancer. I was always pretty good at it. As I started getting older I went through this phase where I was bigger than the rest of the girls. I started being placed in the back of routines and it had been made known by instructors that I didn’t look like the other girls around me. Even though I was young and danced until I was about 12, it taught me my first real life lesson: NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER.
How to play basketball 101 Rule #1: Basketball is a team sport. It consists of 2 teams, 5 players on the court at one time. Rule #4: Possession of the basketball alternates after a score. The goal is to play defense so the opposing team can not score. Rule #2: There are two hoops at the end of each side of the court, and the objective is to score more baskets than the other team in the given amount of time. Rule #5: You are only allowed 5 personal fouls in a game before you have fouled out. On defense move your feet and hands. Rule #6: There are various violations such as traveling (moving with the ball), double dribbling (dribbling, pick up your dribble, and dribbling again), and 3 seconds (permits you from being in the key (square under basket for longer than 3 seconds) that are turnovers and the ball goes to the other team. Rule #3: Different shots on the floor are worth a different value of points; inside the 3 point line and outside of the 3 point line.
Thankfully, God bestowed me with more than one gift. Soon after I left dancing I decided to try something different. I began playing basketball in the 7th grade. I was terrible at it, but I learned to love it. I started playing club and eventually was selected to play on the varsity basketball team my freshman year. I started as a freshman, but unfortunately at the end of that year, I tore my ACL in my team’s semifinal game. After months of rehab, I started playing again. Since then, basketball has brought me so many opportunities. Its taught me to work hard and success will follow. Basketball has become one of the biggest impacting things on my life.
Goodbye Seton Catholic… I had attended a private elementary and junior high before I moved onto a private high school, Seton Catholic. I chose to start a new beginning and attend a public school for the very first time. After being at Seton for a year and a half, I decided it was time for change.
Hello Basha High… I transferred to Basha in April 2008. It was a whole different world to me, and I loved it.
They are more than best friends. They are sisters. They are all different, but I love them all the same… Best friends are hard to find, harder to leave, and impossible to forget… But im lucky enough to have 6!
I met Kellie Miller and Cassidy Holtfreter when I came to Basha…
They were the last two people I’d ever expect to be friends with, but we’ve become so close in such a short amount of time that the memories are all that matter.
Ronae Clark and I used to hate each other until we found out we had everything in common…
She is the reason I got through my junior year sane, and I can really say she’s a true friend. We have the best friendship. She’s always there.
Molly McManimie, Kayla Peralta, and I became best friends in the summer of 2009. We met during basketball, and none of us ever expected to have what we have now. We have such a close knit bond now that its unbreakable. We are family.
Although we live in 3 different places, we still find the time to talk to and support each other. We go by DKM.
I’ve known Arielle Kramer the longest… We’ve been best friends since 7th grade.
We know everything about each other. She is one of the realest people I know, and for whatever reason she always seems to understand me.
We are just as close now as we were 6 years ago.
“Over the course of an average lifetime you meet a lot of people. Some of them stick with you through thick and thin, some weave their way through your life and disappear forever, but every once and a while someone comes along and earns a permanent spot in your heart.”
I met Blake Nash in the summer of 2007… He really is one of the most amazing people I’ve ever met. We’ve been together for almost 3 years… He has changed my life… And I wouldn’t trade our relationship for anything in the world. We stayed close friends for a while before he stole my heart away. I am very much in love with him 
There are two people in this world whom I have to thank for everything….
My mom is my role model. She is such a strong woman. I can only hope to become like her.
No matter what the case is, she is always there. Not once has she ever let me down.
My mom and I are very close. I can count on her for anything. She is the most beautiful person I know.
My dad is also my role model. I’ve never met a man with more patience than him.
I am definitely a daddy’s girl… My dad does everything he can for me to make sure I have everything I need.
I have a good relationship with my dad too. He like my mom is caring and understand and never fails to listen to me. He has the biggest heart.
From what I have to who I am, I owe it all to my parents, Miranda and Showtime Whitmore. They have showered me with blessings, made sacrifices, and have unconditionally cared about and loved me my entire life. I am beyond fortunate to have the parents I have. They have always been supportive and led me on the right road to becoming a woman. My mom and dad are THE most two influential people in my life. No matter what it is, I can tell them anything and appreciate them more than they will probably ever know. We have a very good relationship, and I have them to thank for EVERYTHING. Words don’t describe it enough… I am beyond grateful for them for who they have been to me. They are the world’s best parents I love you mom and dad.
I have lived a young, fortunate life. My blessings I’ve received are countless.
I have gotten to know some of the greatest people and experience some of the greatest things… I’ve met some of the greatest people, and experience some of the greatest things…
And I am more than happy to live the life I’ve lived.
This summer, I will be spending my last summer in Arizona with my family and friends before I go off to college. I will be attending Williston State College in Williston, North Dakota on a basketball scholarship.
I am extremely proud of the person I have become. Although I’ve had my fair share of struggles, I’ve always found a way to climb out of the valleys and onto the mountains. I’ve learned life is a journey and to take it one step at a time. It doesn’t make sense now, but one day it’ll all click together. I’ve experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly, but that’s only help shape me into who I am now. This past 18 years has been a process, and everyday I see how much I’ve grown. I trust in God that I am headed in the right direction. This isn’t a goodbye, but more like a closed chapter on a memorable part of my life that I’ll remember for years to come. I’m ready to move onto the next chapter of my life. The person I am today still has a lot of learning to do, but I will never forget what made me who I am.
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who’ll decide where to go.” -Dr. Seuss
