  1. *PRESS BUTTON*Hello, I am Dominic Rose, candidate number 6023 and this is my A2 G324: Advanced Portfolio in MediaAnd I am going to be presenting my coursework of brief 2, A promotion package for a new film, to include a teaser trailer, together with a poster for the film. And a film magazine front cover, featuring the film;*PRESS BUTTON*Here is part 2 of my research and planning, shot lists, layouts, drafting, scripting and storyboarding*PRESS BUTTON*Here is my production schedule for my research and planning stage, to ensure I kept on track with my work. This section will focus on weeks 5 – 7, this is where as a result of a focus group session I had to change my target audience, therefore meaning I should change my production schedule to allow time for this to fit in, I will then focus on weeks 8 - 13. I am also showing the development of my synopsis through weeks 2 and 4.*PRESS BUTTON*
  2. *PRESS BUTTON*Week 2 commencing 20th September 2010I was to choose the name for my film; so I mind showered names considering my characters names and story.I liked having a short and snappy one word title so I was left with;LoveLettersAnd Charlotte*PRESS BUTTON*I decided on Charlotte because it is a romance film about a Jays love for a girl called Charlotte, but not just his love for her but her ex-boyfriends love and other boys to come. I think naming a film after the main love interest puts a clear message to the audience what the film is about and what the main focus is.*PRESS BUTTON*My main characters name is Jay Russell, this was something decided from the beginning as the inspiration for this film came from James Barrie’s quoteLet no one who loves be called unhappy. Even love unreturned has its rainbow. This quote defines Jay as the film is about Jays unrequited love for Charlotte and how he tries and tries to win her over but remain her friend. James Russell, Jay as he is known by his friends and by the audience is the protagonist and also the viewpoint character*PRESS BUTTON*My first synopsis for my film is far too long as stated in the problems in the task box above, therefore I have put the synopsis as a picture file which if you wish you can read later. I am going to summarise it in 10 points Jay (James) Russell is at sixth form in St. Louis High School, with his best friend and the girl he is in love with. Charlotte. Jay narrates the film much like the style of ‘Bridget Jones’ so that the whole film is from his perspective Charlotte and Ross are together and have been for 2 years, there are cracks showing in there relationship Rosie and Rachel are Jay’s best friends and he talks to them about his feelings for Charlotte, they convince him to write a letter to her It is found out that Ross has been cheating on Charlotte with Leanne, the couple break up Charlotte is too heartbroken to sit with Jay’s group of friends as she can’t handle seeing Ross and Leanne together Jay spends the time that they are apart writing the letter and expressing to Rachel how he feels for Charlotte Rachel has a beach party to celebrate her 18th and Charlotte is invited so Jay and Charlotte can talk. Jay sees Charlotte with Chester and is angry with Charlotte resulting in an argument. Charlotte runs away up the pier, Jay follows and confesses to her how he feels, he also delivers the letter after The next day Charlotte delivers a letter saying they should meet, they do they discuss there feeling and Charlotte and Jay are together in the end.*PRESS BUTTON*
  3. *PRESS BUTTON*Week 4 commencing 4th October 2010I feel before I shorted my synopsis I needed to do a character summary, so that I understood the characters properly by putting them down instead of keeping the ideas in my head. The characters within the film, follow those that appear in most narrative and stories. All are close friends; they share lunches, breaks and lessons together.James / Jay Russell – Protagonist / View-point characterBest Friends with Charlotte (main love interest). The film is all about his unrequited love for Charlotte and the disruptions and faults that stop Jay being with Charlotte. He studies in sixth form at St Louis High School. He is quite tall, modern dress sense, good looking (as this is what most of my target audience look for in a film). He needs to be loveable but has emotional faults. He takes English literature and is very good when it comes to connecting himself to stories. He is friendly with Jake (or so he thinks), Rosie, Rachel and of course Charlotte.Charlotte – Main love interest/ Focal characterCharlotte is the focus of most guys attention yet she is not a ‘sleep around’ she has grace and dignity. She is also at St Louis High School. She has had various male attentions, like Dan and other men around school, yet stays with her boyfriend, Jake, until something happens. Then most men focus themselves around her, Dan and Jay included. She is a redhead alluring, fun and bubbly. She is smaller than Jay and most of her boyfriend’s so that they feel protective over her. She has known Jay since childhood and doesn’t see him in a way that could lead him to be her boyfriend, or so we think. Her actions and reactions create the story.Jacob / Jake (previously Ross) – AntagonistThe name change is due to making the characters names more like who the characters are. Jacob has been taken from ‘the twilight saga’ as most of my target audience watch the films they will realise what type of character Jake is.Jake is Charlottes 2 year boyfriend from the start of the film. He and her have had a good relationship yet are rocky near the end. He sits with Jay, Charlotte and the rest of the group at lunches and breaks and has become close with Leanne at the table near the beginning of the film. Jake is still in love with Charlotte after breaking up with her. Jake hates how close Jay and Charlotte are yet he is nice and friendly when in front of Charlotte. When it is just Jay and Jake he shows how much he dislikes him. Jay sees Jake as his rival and stopping him being with Charlotte. Jay hates how he treats Charlotte and dislikes it when Jake reveals he is still in love with her.Dan (previously Chester) – Contagonist. The name change is simply because I had no name for the character when writing my synopsis so wrote down who I thought would play the character. To make me and my actors understand the film more clearly I have given him the name Dan. Taken from ‘Closer’ where he participates in a love triangle, which like the character in my film. Dan is close friends with Rosie and Rachel, yet has a lot in common with Jake. Jake and Dan aren’t that close of friends yet get on in school. Dan is the character that focuses all their attention of charlotte. Dan makes apparent to the audience that Charlotte is the focal character.Rosie and Rachel – Motherly role, Best friends.Close with Dan and Jay, they provide a way for Jay to tell the audience how he is feeling without using voice over. Rachel and Rosie offer support to Jay and care for him and how things turn out. Rachel has some feeling for Jay yet this is not built upon. Leanne – Mistress RoleLeanne is friends with everyone at the table yet close friends with people outside the group. She develops a close bound with Jake at the beginning of the film causing Jake and Charlotte to split up. Leanne from then shows how Charlotte is coping with the break up from their reactions and actions towards each other.*PRESS BUTTON*I then sorted out my synopsis keeping in mind the characters and how they would act.I have shortened my lengthy synopsis into a paragraph like on the back of a DVD coverCharlotte, being the hottest girl in sixth form, bookworm Jay finds it difficult in expressing his true feelings for her. Jay Russell’s desires may become reality when overprotective boyfriend, Jake breaks off Charlotte’s relationship for Leanne. To finally get Charlotte to see Jay in a far more romantic role than a best friend he writes a love letter hoping to express Jay’s unrequited feelings for Charlotte. Although fighting for Charlottes attention has become difficult when Dan makes his move and Jake realises he’s made a big mistake.
  4. *PRESS BUTTON*I then deconstructed my synopsis apply the theories I have learntLaura Mulvey has been a huge influence on this film, I have tried to bring her theories into the modern day. ‘’woman as object the combined gaze of spectator and all the male protagonists in the film, she is isolated, glamorous and sexualised.’’Mulvey’s are mainly applied to Charlotte, she is always looked upon by everyone she never doesn’t have male attention. She is isolated from all the other women in the film as they dislike her because of all the male attention. She is sexualised as we never really find out much more to her (in the trailer) than being an object of desire and all attention fixed upon her. Throughout the film all we know is about the men Charlotte has or has not dated. She is glamorous as she will always be made to look stunning. The fact that Charlotte remains the focal character but not the protagonist keeps her as a passive character which is what Mulvey said about women within films.*PRESS BUTTON*Todorov’s linear structure is applied throughout ‘Charlotte’:State of equilibrium. The film starts with Jay in love with Charlotte and not being able to tell her how he feels. Charlotte is with her boyfriend (Jake) and everything seems well.Disruption of that order. Charlotte finds out that Jake has been cheating on her with Leanne. Charlotte consequently breaks down and cannot be around Jay at school because of Jake’s actions. There for Jay and Charlotte do not exchange love letters on Valentines day.Recognition that the disorder has occurred. Jay cannot cope at lunch times and needs to talk to somebody about how he feels. He reaches out to Rachel. An attempt to repair the damage of the disruption. Charlotte finds Dan and tries to start the beginning equilibrium again. Jay cannot handle this.Disruption of that order. Charlotte chases Jay up the pier, after Jay seeing Charlotte and Dan together at the party. Jay tells Charlotte how he feels this breaking the second part of the first equilibrium.Recognition that the disorder has occurred. Brief anxious feeling inside Jay, use of voice over very important. An attempt to repair the damage of the disruption. Charlottes love letter is posted to Jay. Charlotte and Jay meet to discuss what happened on the pier.New equilibrium Jay leaves the love letter where Charlotte and him are meeting, yet hides behind the beach huts to see how she feels, Jay comes out. Charlotte kisses him and tells him that she is the only person that has ever treated him right. They hold hands and walk off. The use of repeating the ‘disruption’ stage keeps the audience gripped to the film so that is doesn’t become samey and boring*PRESS BUTTON*.
  5. *PRESS BUTTON*Week 5 commencing 11th October 2010I constructed a rich picture of the narrative to help make my story clearer.*PRESS BUTTON*Jay loves charlotte they are best friends and Charlotte doesn’t knowCharlotte and Jake are togetherJake cheats on Charlotte with LeanneCharlotte leaves the groupJay is upsetCharlotte rejoins the group but with DanJay tells Charlotte how he feelsCharlotte gives her letter to JayJay gives letter to Charlotte They walk of into the distance. Are they together? Who knows*PRESS BUTTON*
  6. *PRESS BUTTON*I then made a rich picture for my construction so I planned how to put my teaser trailer, film magazine cover and poster togetherThis shows the 2 sides of the productions.Romance Teaser Trailer side shows me having to storyboard then consider mise en scene, lighting, sound, use of cameraFilm it, edit it. Then refer back to audience and make sure it uses forms and conventionsWhere as the magazine cover and poster show me sketching my ideas, photographing ideas then comparing to similar products, audiences and forms and conventions.*PRESS BUTTON*
  7. *PRESS BUTTON*Week 6 commencing 18th October 2010Here is where I developed my film poster ideas and what to include with in it.I first recalled the forms and conventions of film posters to make sure I was including them within my trailerThese forms and conventions are;A large title that attracts the eyeBold colours which stand out from the backgroundIntriguing picture which sums up the filmPersuasive taglineBBFC certificateWebsite advertising the filmRelease date (or generalised ‘releasing in fall’)Famous actors and actress’ namesInstitution of the filmEmotive language*PRESS BUTTON*Film PosterMy film poster will include;Film Title – CharlotteTagline – ‘All this time how could she not know?’JustificationTaken from a selection of lyrics from; Taylor Swift – You Belong with Me‘What you’re looking for has been here the whole time’‘Can’t you see, you belong with me’‘All this time how could you not know?’I decided to choose lyrics from ‘You Belong with Me’, as this is the song I wish to use in my trailer. NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED. ALL RIGHTS GO TO UMG RECORDS.Similar to the ‘Eat Pray Love’ trailer the lyrics were not used throughout just instrumental until certain points in the trailer. The choice of ‘All this time how could you not know’, is because this isn’t in the section I will use within the trailer. This also really encompasses what the film is about. Having changed ‘you’ to ‘she’ keeps the tagline within the text and keeps the audience relating to Jay not Charlotte.I decided not to use the J M Barrie quote from earlier in my research because I did not feel it really expressed what the film is about. BBFC Age Rating – ‘12A’JustificationSexual activity may be briefly and discreetly portrayed.Moderate violence is allowed but should not dwell on detail. Website – ‘www.iheartcharlotte.co.uk’JustificationI tried to use; ‘www.charlotte.co.uk’, ‘www.charlotte.com’, ‘www.ilovecharlotte.co.uk’ but these were already used websites. I chose this because it is a website that isn’t out there already and suits the genre and narrative of the film. Release Date – Winter 2011JustificationThis is because my target audience are going to have the most disposable income around this time of the year from Christmas presents. Also I feel that as because the weather this time of the year isn’t that suitable for activities outside, providing something they can watch inside out of the cold with warm their hearts.*PRESS BUTTON*I then sketched out 5 posters for my film*PRESS BUTTON*Sketch 1The strengths of this sketch are that it clear shows that the focal character is Charlotte and identifies ideas about the plot The weaknesses of this sketch are that you cannot see Jay’s face, this leads to the idea of changing the perspective and genre of the film to horror or thriller.*PRESS BUTTON*Sketch 2The strengths about this sketch are that picture gives enough information without giving away too much. The weaknesses about this sketch are that Charlotte is not prominent enough in the shot, that it doesn’t really show how Jay feels and that I don’t know if the tagline will be visible enough*PRESS BUTTON*Sketch 3The strengths about this sketch are that Jay is in full shot and you can really be able to read his body language, this use of the lamppost really highlights Charlotte and then again refers back to this connotation of hope from Pandora’s Box The weaknesses about this sketch are that it doesn’t really show that the film is a romance film, the genre is lost within the picture.*PRESS BUTTON*Sketch 4The strengths about this sketch are that Jay and Charlotte are fully in shot yet Jay is brought forwards and the only person looking at the camera. The helps the fact that they are protagonist and focal character. Having Jake and Dan also in the poster shows all the attention she is getting from men and already shows her character the way everyone is positioned also makes this seem almost like a triangle pointing at Jay. This again separates Jay from the others as being different. The weaknesses about this sketch are that I feel the tagline is in the wrong position and will not stand out as much as it needs to, to be able to create an impact for the audience.*PRESS BUTTON* Sketch 5The strengths about this sketch are that the genre and audience of the film is clearly stated straight away. The narrative is hinted at and yet not given away too much. Charlotte is obviously the focal character yet we can tell Jay is the protagonist by have him as the only character looking at the camera and the tagline being around him The weaknesses about this sketch are that I don’t see what could fill the spaces around the hearts.I am not going to decide on which will be my final poster after I have taken mock photos and checked with my focus group that these are what they want*PRESS BUTTON*
  8. *PRESS BUTTON*I then decided on ideas to include within my storyboardsThe same as my film poster I recalled the forms and conventions of a teaser trailer to make sure I included themShort. Often between 30-90 secondsReleased a long before the actual film is releasedTold through titlesMusic in backgroundTells the story vaguelySnippets of the plot and best parts of the filmShows the institution that makes the filmChange in music at significant point*PRESS BUTTON*My key shots within the teaser trailer areCaféThis offers me a change to have a wide shot as Charlotte walks into the café giving a great establishing shot. The café also sets the dynamic showing where they all hang out, how uncomfortable Jay is in such a normal setting, this also relates to my target audience as girls between 14 – 18 often go into café’s to chat.SchoolThis sets them in context, how old they are, that they are sixth form not in lower school and shows that they are till studentsBack AlleyThis shows the relationship between Jay and Jake that by choosing a back alley makes Jake’s antagonist character seem far more sinister and threatening.PierThis is a pinnacle point in the movie where the mise en scene is beautiful, with the pier being at night the reflection of the water and the lights of the town will really show how stunning that moment is.*PRESS BUTTON*My titles are;Love, Complications and FriendshipThis sums the film up in 3 words and most other romance films, thus giving the audience a straight away impression of the movie as in the romance genre.*PRESS BUTTON*I have chosen I make my own institutions as after consulting with teacher, using dreamworks or universal institution is using someone else’s work and isn’t your own. If I did use dreamworks or universal then I would have to justify why I chose that institution and say why my product would fit in, where as I do not need to include this about institution as this isn’t what I’m marked on.Rose Films is taken from my name, and Mountain entertrainment is a spoof of ‘Summit entertainment’ the same institution that made Twilight.*PRESS BUTTON*Instead of using Taylor Swift as I previously stated I am using Pixie Lott, this is because Pixie is a British artist reinforcing the fact that this is a british film. Broken Arrow is more of a slowed down lyrical song which is what I need to capture the hurt within Jay.*PRESS BUTTON*
  9. *PRESS BUTTON*Here are my storyboardsI am going to check with my focus group that these storyboards are reaching my target audience and is they have any constructive criticism. *PRESS BUTTON*
  10. *PRESS BUTTON*I established a focus group for my film to make sure I am hitting everything I need to to sell the film.My first question was;Do you think my storyboard reaches its target audience? This was split evenly half thought that it had potential to reach it but was too boring at the moment and tried to tell the story instead of it being a teaser.Where as the other half thought it was just to long, soppy and dreary. My second question was; That does my storyboard express what the film is about? The majority said yes, as it does explain the film, but in too much detail it needs to just tell the key pointsMy third question was;Is this a trailer that you would want to watch? The majority said noThe main problem with my film is that it does not reach its target audience, the storyboard as it is now reaches middle aged women, but then this target isn’t satisfied because the actors are still teens instead of adults.Everyone in my focus group said that my teaser was trying to tell the story not a teaser film.I need to lighten my film up and make it a feel good film instead of a depressing film, as this is what the films comes across as in the trailer at the moment. But my focus group said that I need to sort out my target audience before sorting out the rest of the film.*PRESS BUTTON*
  11. *PRESS BUTTON*Week 8 commencing the 1stnovember 2010My target audience change was shown in research and planning – part 1.*PRESS BUTTON*The discussions were again covered in research and planning part 1 so here I am just talking about the suggestions.Strip back to only 4 characters;JayCharlotteJakeAnd a new girl character that brings in the ‘skins’ feelThis then stops me from trying tot tell the story and limits me to showing the film just as a teaser which is what I need to get me marks, this also then keeps me within the forms and conventions of media products.Having a girl as the ‘skins’ character balances out the cast and gives Jay relief from his overwhelming love for Charlotte, possibly causing another twist in the story between Jay and this new girl.As raised before I need to shorten my trailer as at the moment it is 2 mintues when at maximum it should be 1:30I need more cheery music to make the film seem more feel good.New colour scheme as dull dark colours do not work, for a feel good film.Everyone in my focus group loved my poster ideas expessically number 5,As this showed the genre of the film clearly and showed the lead role whislt having focal character in the centreI need to remember with my new girl to include these issues ofDrink- school friendship smoking sex.*PRESS BUTTON*
  12. *PRESS BUTTON*I now needed to do a character summary for my new character.I needed to choose a name for my character, I looked into names of characters from Skins to that an audience would relate them to skins.I then decided to build upon one of my already existing characters.Rosie or Rachel. I chose Rachel as her character already has more substance, she helps him out with the Charlotte issue and she organises her 18th beach party*PRESS BUTTON*Here is my original character summary for Rachel;Rosie and Rachel – Motherly role, Best friends.Close with Dan and Jay, they provide a way for Jay to tell the audience how he is feeling without using voice over. Rachel and Rosie offer support to Jay and care for him and how things turn out. Rachel has some feeling for Jay yet this is not built upon. *PRESS BUTTON*I didn’t want to take away from what I had already built so I just taken her qualities and made them more of a ‘skins’ character. She is inquistive almost intrusive of Jay, she offers him support with alchohol or sexually Jay and Rachel sleep together.*PRESS BUTTON*
  13. *PRESS BUTTON*Now that I have created RachelI have my four characters;JayCharlotteJakeRachelI needed to re-do my synopsis.I took my synopsis and took out any reference to the other characters and focused it on the 4 leads, Here is my new and final synopsis.*PRESS BUTTON*Charlotte, being the hottest girl in sixth form, bookworm Jay finds it difficult in expressing his true feelings for her. Jay Russell’s desires may become reality when overprotective boyfriend, Jake breaks off Charlotte’s relationship, with a bitter end. To finally get Charlotte to see Jay in a far more romantic role than a best friend, he goes to Rachel the class binge drinking, chain smoking, sleep around who advises him to write a love letter hoping to express Jay’s unrequited feelings for Charlotte. Although fighting for Charlottes attention has become difficult when not just Jay wants Charlotte. *PRESS BUTTON*
  14. *PRESS BUTTON*Week 9 commencing 8thnovember 2010I produced another rich picture of my narrative to make it clear to my focus group and to my self that I have the idea of the film firmly in my head before I carry on with the other work. This along with my synopsis, character studies and target audience help set up my film ready for construction*PRESS BUTTON*Jay loves Charlotte, they are best friends and she doesn’t knowCharlotte is with Jake and has been fro 2 yearsJake and Charlotte split up and Charlotte leaves the groupJay goes to Rachel for advise on what to doRachel advises that he write a letterJay goes to post the letter andSees that Jake and Charlotte are back togetherJay jealous and angry that Charlotte is back with Jakes goes to see Rachel, they get drunk and end up sleeping together. At rachel’s 18th Jay and Rachel and together and Charlotte and Jake are together, Charlotte becomes jealous of Rachel and Charlotte and Jay argueCharlotte runs up the pier Jay follows and conffesses his love for herCharlotte leaves and goes home were Jay is left an emotional wreck the next day the two meet up, and discuss how they feel. Happily ever after?*PRESS BUTTON*
  15. *PRESS BUTTON*Here is where I developed my film poster ideas and what to include with in it.I first recalled the forms and conventions of film posters to make sure I was including them within my trailerThese forms and conventions are;MastheadStraplineMain cover lineMain ImageSell LinesInsight into what the magazine containsHouse styleImage showing the main story which will sell the magazine.Emotive Language*PRESS BUTTON*Film Magazine CoverMagazine Title – FlicksJustificationI have chosen this title as this sums up what the magazine is going to be about, films. The use of flicks instead of films or movies is because it makes the magazine more formal. Also it makes it a more female based audience because of the audience in ‘chick flicks’.Target Audience – 12 – 21 years old movie goersJustificationI have this as my target audience for my magazine because my target audience for my film is included yet it is widened to both sexes so that the magazine will have a greater appeal. Tagline – ‘Get your new film fix’JustificationThe use of alliteration with ‘film fix’ makes the tagline more catchy. The ‘film fix’ also works well with ‘flicks’ the assonance of ‘fl’, again makes the tagline and catchy and more interesting to read.Date – ‘Autumn 2011’JustificationThis is the season before the release of the film. This gives the magazine time to review and give an insight to potential viewersPrice – ‘Free’JustificationThe reasoning for having the magazine as free because, Flicks is a magazine that would be on distribution at cinemas such as Cineworld’s Film News or other in house magazines.Magazine Issue – ‘Low Budget Blockbusters’JustificationThis is because ‘Charlotte’ is a low budget film and if it was not a low budget film special then ‘Charlotte couldn’t possibly be on the front cover, not having any famous actors or directors.Website – ‘www.flicksmagazine.co.uk’JustificationThis is a website that isn’t in use already and sums up exactly what the magazine is. *PRESS BUTTON*I then sketched 5 magazine covers*PRESS BUTTON*Sketch 1The strengths of this sketch are that this clearly shows the genre, forms and conventions of a magazine cover. This also shows the feelings of Jay as he is away from love. He has sat up away from the hearts giving him distance. The weakness of this sketch are that it is not as interesting to look at *PRESS BUTTON*Sketch 2The strengths of this sketch are that it has all the forms and conventions of a magazine cover, and gives us an insight into the character and how he feels. It is also very interesting to look at. Which is what a magazine cover does. The weakness of this sketch is that I am unsure whether biting the heart is quite Jay’s character.*PRESS BUTTON*Sketch 3The strength of this sketch is that it represents the skins style of the film having Jay holding a beer, it retains the genre by keeping the the heart on his chestThe weakness is that using beer on the front cover is blatent advertising and I doubt this magazine cover would actually be put on sale*PRESS BUTTON*Sketch 4The strength of this sketch is that both Charlotte and Jay are on the cover of the magazine showing both lead roles. This is more of an interview with them instead of advertising the film. The weakness is that it leaves less room beside them to put articles and the magazine forms and conventions*PRESS BUTTON*Sketch 5The strengths of this magazine is that it encompases exactly what the film is trying to show, Charlotte is sexuallised, it tells the story vagely and Jay is looking at the camera, showing he is the lead yet the focus is still on CharlotteThe weakness is that like Sketch 4 it does not leave room for the forms and conventions.*PRESS BUTTON*
  16. *PRESS BUTTON*Week 10 commencing the 15thnovember 2010I was to improve my storyboard so that I can see if my focus group confirm that this is reaching my target audience; The Improvements I had made were;Music – The Coral – Dreaming of You This is a more light hearted song that captures the feeling of Jay as well as keeping a skins like feelThe trailer is now 1:22 seconds long making the trailer fit in with the forms and conventions and shortened than as my focus group said. The Key shots of this trailer arePier Back AlleyMuch like beforeThe new key shots are;House / getting ready for schoolRachel’s bedroomGetting ready for school shows the characters in school uniform setting them in context and the getting ready means I can use an establishing shot of town and then lower into the house getting ready.Rachels bedroom can be used to show the skins like feel of her character, with lights and alcohol everywhere.*PRESS BUTTON*
  17. *PRESS BUTTON*In my final focus group meeting show and evaluation of my storyboardQuestion 1;Do you think my target audience will like and understand the trailer? All of my focus group said yes saying that Rachel’s includement in the film creates the skins feel which will reach my target audienceQuestion 2;Does this how the skins feel?8 said yes, 2 said that this could be improved more, yet I explained than adding more of these themes will make my film an 18 and not accessible to my target audience.Question 3;Would you watch the trailer and then watch the film? All of my focus group said they would watch the film saying that it is a brilliant trailer that gives them inside into the film but does not give to much away.Other suggestions were; The music was perfect and suited the film brilliantly1 person said that the scenes were again a little like telling the story, so I should simply mess up the order of the shots to make it seem more like a trailer.Otherwise there were no faults.*PRESS BUTTON*
  18. *PRESS BUTTON*Week 11 commencing 22nd November 2010I took photos of my poster sketch designs so I can see if they look as good in photograph in sketches.*PRESS BUTTON*Sketch 1 Sketch 2 Sketch 3 Sketch 4 and Sketch 5, are all shown in these photographs.Sketch 5 looks the best out of the 5 because; It shows the relationship between Charlotte, Jake and Jay.This places Charlotte in the centre remaining her as a focal character yet having Jay looking straight at the character and on the left of the poster keeps the focus of him being the mian character.*PRESS BUTTON*
  19. *PRESS BUTTON*I same as the poster I took photos of my sketches to see if they are better on photograph then sketches.Sketch 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are all shown within these photographsSketch 4 is my final choice, as this leaves enough room around Charlotte and Jay to include the forms and conventions of magazines, This also creates eye contact with the reader and lets shows the themes of the film. *PRESS BUTTON*
  20. *PRESS BUTTON*Week 12 commencing 29th November 2010 I produced layouts of my poster and magazine.PosterIt includes the research of film postersI have changed my tagline to Friendship, Complications, Love as this shows a like to my teaser trailerI have the title large and in front of the imageThe hearts show the genreMagazineIt shows the forms and conventions of the magazine coversCharlotte my main article is at a slanted angle to show the importance of this articleThe large F has taken from the inpiration of Q magazine though a music magazine it still tries to target a wide audience which is what I try to do with my magazine*PRESS BUTTON*
