• Summary
4. INTRODUCTION
“Project planning is a form of operational planning, whereby the
consecutive steps to implement the project activities are carefully
mapped out, based on an analysis of relevant information and linked to
the program in which the project takes place and to which it should
contribute. Essentially, project planning involves establishing the scope,
aims and objectives of a project, the way in which the project will be
performed, the roles and responsibilities of those involved, and the time
and cost estimates.” (Project Management in Public Health in Europe, EU Health, 2011)
Planning normally answer the question like what, how, who and when.
Planning is simply how to seek the balance between project constraints
to achieve the set goal.

Planning entails a series of decisions, from general and strategic decisions to specific operational ones, based on the gathering and analysis of information.
Expanding of concepts and refinement of ideas
Project charter (refer to the contract or document that the project sponsor and project manager use to agree on the initial vision of the project(scope, baseline, resources, objectives at the high level)
Project plan includes project requirement, project schedule and Project management plan (Implementation plan, monitoring and evaluation plan)
Project Managing Softwares (MS Project, Gantt Project, Wrike, 2-Plan Project, etc)
PERT/CPM (Often used for tracking project)
Stakeholder Analysis (Both internal and External) which includes Project team, donors/ sponsors, partners, scientific community, leaders, decision maker and community people
Project organization chart is made to identify the stakeholders
Stakeholder Analysis (Both internal and External) which includes Project team, donors/ sponsors, partners, scientific community, leaders, decision maker and community people
Project organization chart is made to identify the stakeholders
Policy review on oral hygiene
Construct framework for situation analysis: PRECEDE/PROCEED model
VDC profile, health post, school records
Use of various tools and evidences to do prioritization here we use the data from our base line surveys and evidences across the globe, policy constraints to prioritize our strategies and actions
Using problem tree analysis and prioritization : main problem was improper brushing
Demonstration, mass awareness , orientation to health teachers
Pre-class compulsory brushing of school students
Defining scope of project (Areas, Activities- beneficiaries)
Area: public primary school of Sindhupalchowk
Target population: students of grade 1-3 class
Objectives: to improve knowledge on oral hygiene of primary school students of Sindhupalchowk within 1 month.
Human Resource planning (Part time/Fulltime||How many?| How they are going to recruited| How much salary? What type of Project manager, HR-Dentist, Epidemiologist, Health educators?
Quality Plan- Set standard for both Technical Quality and Management Quality
Defining project duration (timetables and milestones)
