2. Portable Power Tools and Shop Tools:Jig Saw (Sabre Saw) A jigsaw is a tool used for cutting curves, such as stenciled designs or custom shapes into a piece of wood or metal. It can be used in a more artistic fashion than other saws, which typically cut in straight lines only. In this way, it is similar to the rasp and the chisel. Although a jigsaw can be used to cut patterns, making a straight cut freehand is difficult even with a guide.

3. Portable Power Tools and Shop Tools:Drill A drill is a tool fitted with a drill bit (cutting attachment) or a driver bit (fastening attachment) and is used for drilling holes in various materials or fastening various materials together with the use of fasteners. The tip, and sometimes edges, of the drill bit does the work of cutting into the target material. This may be slicing off thin shavings (auger bits), crushing and removing pieces of the workpiece (masonry drill) or many other operations.

4. Portable Power Tools and Shop Tools:Circular Saw The circular saw is a tool for cutting wood or other materials and may be hand-held or table-mounted. Most of these saws are designed with a blade to cut wood but may also be equipped with a blade designed to cut masonry, plastic or metal. Typically, the material to be cut is securely clamped or held in a vise and the saw is advanced slowly across it.

5. Portable Power Tools and Shop Tools:Reciprocating Saw A reciprocating saw is a type of saw in which the cutting action is achieved through a push and pull reciprocating motion of the blade. The term reciprocating saw is commonly assigned to a type of saw used in construction and demolition work. This type of saw, also known as a Sawzall has a large blade like that of a Jigsaw and a handle oriented to allow the saw to be used comfortably on vertical surfaces. The typical style of this saw has a foot at the base of the blade, also similar to a jigsaw. The user rests this foot against the surface being cut so that the tendency of the blade to push away from or pull towards the cut as the blade travels through its cycle can be countered.

6. Portable Power Tools and Shop Tools:Pneumatic Nailer A pneumatic nailer is a nail gun or air nailer and is a type of tool used to drive nails into wood or some other kind of material. It is usually driven by compressed air. Nail guns have in many ways replaced hammers as tools of choice among many workers in the building trades. Nail guns do not use individual fasteners. Instead, the fasteners are usually mounted in long strips (similar to a stick of staples) depending on the design of the nailgun. Some full head nail guns, especially those used for pallet making and roofing, use long plastic or wire coils. Some strip nailers use a clipped head so the nails can be placed closer together, which is good for less frequent reloading. Nail guns vary in the length and gauge (thickness) of nails they can drive.

8. Portable Power Tools and Shop Tools:Mitre Saw A power mitre saw, also known as a chop saw, is a power tool used to make a quick, accurate crosscut in a workpiece. Common uses include framing operations and the cutting of flooring and molding. Most mitre saws are relatively small and portable, with common blade sizes ranging from eight to 12 inches. The mitre saw makes cuts by pulling a spinning circular saw blade down onto a workpiece in a short, controlled motion. The workpiece is typically held against a fence, which provides a precise cutting angle between the blade and the longest workpiece edge. In standard position, this angle is fixed at 90°. The most important feature of the mitre saw is the changeability of the cutting angle relative to the fence.the fence. Many mitre saws provide "stops" that allow the mitre cuts to be quickly set to common angles (such as 15°, 30°, 45°, or 75°).

9. Portable Power Tools and Shop Tools:Table Saw A table saw is a versatile woodworking tool consisting of a circular saw blade, mounted on a table, that is driven by an electric motor. The blade sticks through the surface of a table, which provides support for the material, usually wood, being cut.

10. Portable Power Tools and Shop Tools:Table Saw A band saw is a power tool which uses a blade consisting of a continuous band of metal with teeth along one edge to cut various workpieces. Band saws are used for woodworking and metalworking, or for cutting a variety of other materials, and are particularly useful for cutting irregular or curved shapes, but can also be used to produce straight cuts..
