Productivity at Tricon
“What you cannot measure, you cannot manage.”
Tricon has assimilated this wisdom and reoriented its corporate culture accordingly.
You may leverage on Tricon’s project management capabilities. This involves two
areas:
• Measurement of productivity at all levels
• Providing feedbacks
We use Product metrics and Process metrics for this purpose
Product Metrics
• Size (Kloc, Function point etc.)
• Quality (Defect density, Defect distribution, Defect removal etc.)
Process Metrics
• Project management (Schedule slippage, Effort overrun etc.)
• Estimation (Changes to size, Changes to effort etc.)
• Quality Control (Test/ Review coverage etc.)
• Quality assurance (No. of non-conformances etc.)
• Configuration management (No. of baseline changes per CI etc.)
7. Continuous improvement through evolving
maturity of overall software process
One of the primary ways of augmenting process maturity is Reusability of
Knowledge - to skim generic knowledge out of specific problems and to make
knowledge easily accessible to all employees. Tricon has institutionalized what
is called the Knowledge Bank (KB) using wiki. The Knowledge Bank or KB, as it is
known in Tricon, is a central repository of experiential knowledge in the company. It
contains standards for project plan, program spec, test plan, etc., various checklists,
other project experiences. It includes generic knowledge, experience, best practices,
standards and guidelines for the full life cycle procedures, hardware and software
technology, business rules and practices, customer interface, training and other
generic activities. Updating the KB is a mandatory part of most processes in the
company, particularly those related to software development. With facilities like search
by key words and on line submissions, it is a critical success factor for high-paced
learning and high productivity.
What Customers are saying?
"I just wanted to take a minute to thank you and the Tricon team for the outstanding
work you have completed on Synergy's Health Care Estimator Tool. In a fairly short
time frame you put together a team of first class programmers, and coded our
application. As with every system implementation, there were both changes to spec,
and programming bugs. Your team treated both with the same tremendous sense of
urgency, and performed most re-works, overnight. Also, I personally enjoyed working
directly with you. You were in touch with our project at all times, showed great
judgment, managed to laugh under stress, and responded promptly to all calls. We
look forward to working with Tricon again."
