What is the difference you see in a Real plant and Artificial plant
Real
Artificial
Real Plants need air, Water and sunlight to
live and grow.
They become bigger after 6 months.
Leaves and Stems feel different.
Artificial Plants do not need air, or water or
sunlight as they do not grow.
They remain the same size for many years.
Leave and stems do not feel real
Thus anything that needs Air, water and
food to grow and live are called LIVING
Things
Anything that does not grow or feel are
called NON -LIVING Things
Living Thingsa Non Living Things
1. All living things need Air, Water and Food
to Live and Grow
They do not need air or water as they do
not grow
2. All living things make seeds or babies
which will grow up. This is called
Reproduction.
The do not reproduce
3. Living things can breathe and Feel. They cannot feel or breathe.
4. Living this can move They cannot move
Eg. Plants , Animals, Humans Chair, desk, Door, pencil, Air, Tv etc
How do you know if a thing is living or non living?
How is a Pencil different from a Stone?
Pencil is Man-made non living things where are stone is
non living thing found in nature. So, non-living things are man-
made or found in nature
In Your House you see a lot of things. Lets sort them out into Living and Non - Living.
Living Non Living
Is the Sun a Living thing or a Non-Living thing?
Sun is a Non-living thing because it does not need air and
food.
It does not grow.
Plants don’t move on their own. Then why do we say they are living?
Plants need sunlight ,air and water to produce food.
Though we cannot see, plants do breathe
Plants grow.
Is a dead plant living or non-living?
A dead plant is a considered as living thing, because at some point it was living.
All living things Die.
If you have a puppy and a Plant how will you take care of them? What will you do differently
to take care of them?
PLANT PUPPY
You will water the plant.
You will keep them in sunlight.
You will give the dog food and water.
You will give dog a bath and take it for a walk
Both are living things a but Why do we do things differently for a plant and Animals?
Living Thing Plant Animals
Need food
Reproduce
Breathe
Move
Grow
They make their own food They depend on plants
and other animals for
food.
Plants make seeds that
grow into new plant.
They lay eggs or have babies
They breathe thru the leaves They breathe thru their nose,
skin or gills.
Parts of the plant can move
but they are fixed to one
place.
Animals move from one place
to another.
They grow They grow
Do Plants and Animals “Feel”? How do you know?
Plants and animals do feel.
Animals can feel danger and love.
Plants can feel the sun and turn towards it. Eg sunflower
A plant called Touch-me-Not closes its leaves when you touch it.
Plants grow from seeds and animals grow from eggs or babies. Thus the
need of plants and animals are different
Why do we take animals for walk and not plants?
Animals need exercise and fresh air. Animals need to pass urine and waste like
people.
Plants also throw out extra water buy opening their leaves.
“Humans “ - Are plants or Animals?
PLANTS ANIMALS HUMANS
Make their own food Eat Plants or other animals.
Do not move Move from one place to another
Produces seeds for new plants Lay eggs or have babies
Breathe thru leaves Breathe thru nose, skin or gills
This we Know How do humans do these
We depend on plants and other animals
for food
We move from one place to another
Give birth to babies
Breathe thru our noses
So we can say that HUMANS are
Shows thumps up if its living and thumps down for non-living
