Website results:
• Nutrisystem, which sales weight management products online and
in stores, in January 2015 launched NuMi, a free iPhone and
Android app. Numi, which is integrated with the Helath app in iOS 8,
enables users to track food intake and calories burned, and receive
real-time recommendations based on their preferences. It works
with activity devices from Fitbit, Jawbone and Withings, as well as
with Apple Motion on iPhone 5s, 6 and 6 plus.
• Nutrisystem was founded in 1972. Initially, the company offered
weight loss counseling and products in brick and mortar centers. In
1999, the company moved to a direct-to-consumer business model,
selling its products and programs on the Internet and through a call
center via 1-800 numbers. Nutrisystem’s programs have been sold
on the QVC television home shopping network since 2001 and
in Costco stores since 2009.

9. COLONY BRANDS INC. – COMPANY BACKGROUND
Website results:
• Colony Brands, parent company of food and gift retailer The Swiss
Colony, entered a long-term lease of a new distribution center in Sun
Prairie, Wis. The company has two other warehouse facilities in
Wiscosin, as well as locations in Iowa and Nevada. Swiss Colony says
it will take up to 18 months to install the necessary technology at the
new location. It expects to begin migrating some of its brands to the
427,000-square-foot facility in about 12 months. The company, which
says it has no immediate acquisition plans, intends to use Sun Prairie
distribution center to grow its current 13 brands.
• The company also features extensive offerings in furniture, home
decor, apparel, entertainment products, and electronics. It is one of the
largest direct marketers in the United States. The company was
founded in 1926 in Monroe, Wisconsin, a town with a strong
concentration of Swiss immigrants and a storied history of cheese
production.

promoted a new look at how the web and catalog merchant converts
browsers to buyers. In recent years the addition of new types of

compared with several hundred just a few years ago. To maintain a
high conversion rate, Keurig Green Mountain has crafted a broad
plan to identify additional online shoppers looking for a new coffee
maker and attracting more tea, coffeee and hot chocolate drinkers to
its groving portfolio of beverage brands. Keurig.com receives an
average of 3,9 milion monthly visits, according to Interner Retailer
estimates.
• Keurig Green Mountain, formerly Green Mountain Coffee Roasters,
is a specialty coffee and coffeemaker company founded in 1981 and
headquartered in the U.S. It sources, produces, and sells coffee, hot
cocoa, teas, and other beverages under various brands in portion
packs for its Keurig brewing systems; and sells coffee beans and
ground coffee in bags and fractional packs. It sells many of its
beverage varieties in K-Cup single-serve pods, and as of 2015 offers
Vue, Rivo, Bolt, and K-Carafe pods as well.

• Kroger in July 2014 acquired Vitacost.com, a web-only retailer of
vitamins, supplements and diet products, for $8 per share in cash, or
approximately $280 milion. Vitacost.com brings Kroger both a new
line of health products and eCommerce expertise that will assist the
grocer’s plan to reach further into new sales channels.
Vitacost.com’s eCommerce platform will enable Kroger to serve
customers through home delivery orders in all 50 states, including 16
states that were not served previously by Kroger supermarkets, the
companies said. Vitacost.com ships to 160 countries. eCommerce

• The Kroger Company is an American retailer founded by Bernard
Kroger in 1883 in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is the country's largest
supermarket chain by revenue ($109.83 billion for fiscal year 2015),
second-largest general retailer (behind Walmart), and twenty-third
largest company in the United States founded in 1883.

senior vice president of marketing for the U.S. He is responsible for

• Weight Watchers International is an American company that offers
various products and services to assist weight loss and
maintenance. Founded in 1963 by Queens, New York,
homemaker Jean Nidetch, it now operates in about
30 countries around the world, generally under names that are local
translations of “Weight Watchers”.

Popcart, a free shopping tool from eCommerce technology vendor
Foodily. Once consumers bookmark the Popcart application in their

any website. It works like this: At GetPopcart.com/freshdirect, a
consumer drags the „Popcart it” box to her web browser’s
bookmark or favorites section. When viewing a recipe on a website
or blog, she clicks on Popcart to open its window. Then she uses
her cursor to highlight the ingredients she wants to buy, drags the
content into a Popcart box and clicks „Continue” to complete the
purchase on FreshDirect.com.

based in Skokie, Illinois and operates in several U.S. cities. It is

1. WALLGREEN CO. – COMPANY BACKGROUND
Website results:
• Two of the biggest players in online pharmacy completed their
merger in late 2014. Walgreen Co. Announced earlier in
December it acquired the remaining 55% of European pharmacy
retail giant Allinace Boots for 3,13 milion pounds ($4,88 bilion)
and more than 144 milion shares of common stock. The two
companies will operate under the new Wallgreens Boots Alliance
umbrella and will be headquartered in Deerfield. It’s a merger
that took root in 2012, when Wallgreen bought a 45% stake in
Alliance Boots for a reported $6,7 bilion in an effort to expand the
brand’s global reach. The two retailers combined for an Internet
Retailer-estimated $1,13 bilion in web sales in 2014.
• The Walgreen Company (Walgreens, or sometimes
archaically Walgreen) is an American pharmaceutical company,
founded in 1901, which operates the second largest chain in the
United States of America behind CVS Health. It specializes in
filling prescriptions, health & wellness products, health
information and photo services
