NDTC 101A - Great Neighborhoods: Every Voice Engaged
Every Voice Engaged Foundation will be conducting a two-session workshop to assist San
Jose Neighborhood Associations in identifying potential safety, beautification, and other
projects for their neighborhood. Everyone is welcome to attend the conference. However,
those wishing to apply for a San Jose Cycle 26 CAP grant MUST attend NDTC 101A, 101B,
and the closing session (3 neighborhood association members minimum) in order to qualify.
Please sign up for only two additional workshops.
NDTC 101B - Great Neighborhoods: Every Voice Engaged (Part 2)
The second session will prioritize ideas and select one to apply for a City of San Jose mini-
grant. Every Voice Engaged facilitators will provide hands-on assistance with completing
applications for approval the same day. Everyone is welcome to attend the conference.
However, those wishing to apply for a San Jose Cycle 26 CAP grant MUST attend NDTC
101A, 101B, and the closing session (3 neighborhood association members minimum) in
order to qualify. Please sign up for only two additional workshops.
NDTC 102 - Silicon Valley Energy Watch
Energy resources available to all County residents and businesses through working
partnerships, plus an overview of how to make your home energy sustainable and energy
efficient.
NDTC 103 - Financial Capacity Building
Lending industry leaders will present the latest tools available for neighborhood leaders to
increase their capacities to effectively manage their financial futures and assist others with
budgeting, credit and debt management, and homeownership.
NDTC 104 - CommUniverCity: Engaging Residents through Service-Learning
Learn how CommUniverCity is working with the neighborhoods surrounding San José State
University and other stakeholders in building community by engaging residents and students
in service learning projects that accomplish neighborhood-driven goals.
NDTC 105 - NEWater? Recycling Gives Water a Second Chance!
Silicon Valley's new Advanced Water Purification Center provides for tomorrow's sustainable
drinking water supply- see what NEWater is and how it happens.
NDTC 106 - Garden to Table: Grow, Harvest, Share
This workshop will teach the basics of organizing neighborhood gardens and a community
fruit tree sharing program. Learn how to engage homeowners, apartment owners and renters
in growing produce, providing locally harvested food to those in need, increasing social
interaction and experiencing the rewards of gardening and responsible Earth stewardship.
NDTC 107 - Neighborhood Association Best Practices
Learn and discuss “Best Practices” in improving your neighborhood association and
member participation/ performance from two different leadership group perspectives.
NDTC 108 - Problem Properties, Landlords and Tenants in Your Neighborhood?
Join United Neighborhoods and Neighborhood Housing Services for an opportunity to see
how the Responsible Landlords Engagement Initiative (RLEI) can - and has provided
help with proven solutions.

NDTC 109 - Practical Solutions for Public Safety
Do you feel your neighborhood is safe? Learn how to use basic tools available to make your
neighborhood the place you want to live.
NDTC 110 - Housing Actions Coalitions: Strengthening Your Voice
How a group of residents can become a powerful united voice persuading developers to say
YES!
NDTC 111 - PACT: People Acting in Community Together
PACT is a multi-ethnic, interfaith organization that empowers everyday people. You can
learn how to work together, act together and move to action together. You will learn the
ABC's of how residents can work together as a grassroots community effectively using
participation, inspiring hope, creating change.
NDTC 112 - Neighborhood Leadership Development
What does it mean to be a community leader? What responsibilities do they have and what
challenges do we face today? This workshop will share some of the values, qualities, and
skills of effective leaders.
NDTC 113 - Safe Families: Resources to Prevent Family Violence
When families aren’t safe, they can’t provide a refuge from the challenges that children and
youth face. Creating safe families needs to be supported by our communities. Developing
strong relationships by supporting strong families needs to be our highest priority. This
workshop will share information about family violence, how common it is and resources
available to help.
NDTC 114 - Neighborhood Communication Skills and Tools
Sharpen writing, photo, web and communication skills and learn how to create a free and
private neighborhood social networking site through www.nextdoor.com and connect to a
community news and resource site, www.neighborwebsj.com.
NDTC 115 - College Youth in Service to Communities
College students can be a valuable resource for your community. Learn from faculty and
students themselves what services they provide, what involvement they prefer, and why they
serve. Learn the access points and the language of student “community service learning” at
high school and college levels. Address challenges, expectations, and questions of student
engagement.
NDTC 116 - Voting Matters in Neighborhoods
The American Leadership Group and League of Women Voters will educate and lead a
discussion on November Election ballot issues affecting you, your neighborhood and your
state.
