Examples Of Dance For Mother Earth
Essay Question 1 The video I selected for this question is 3.2 "Dance for Mother Earth". To begin,
I see the symbolism of the circle (circular vision) present throughout the piece. Two examples are
when the individuals are dancing/walking in a circular fashion to music during the power as well
as when the video references some people living by the way of the square and the idea that we
need to live by the way of the circle. To continue, ancestry (respect for ancestry) was present
throughout the piece as well. To begin, the idea of struggling to find the balance between what is
important and what is not it brought up alongside the question of how our ancestors would feel
about our values and actions. Further, the video highlighted not only learning and knowing the way
of their ancestors but also following them in order to heal Mother Earth. The video continued on to
address the reason people dance and that it is to honor their family, the elderly, and their community
in order to connect generations....show more content...
In the beginning, the video references communicating with one another through references to Native
Americans before events and ceremonies such as baseball and football games as well as setting
formal education requirements for Native American history in order to communicate everything they
went through and their beliefs and such. Further, the video discusses the role of the pow wow in
Native American life which is to have intertribal unity where they teach, share values, as well as heal
together. For this to occur, communication must also occur. Additionally, the drum during the pow
wow serves as the heartbeat of the event to connect each other and ancestors with each song having
a purpose and lesson to teach all. In general, a pow wow would not even be possible without a
multitude of people communicating in order to plan, organize, and facilitate the

Importance Of Protecting The Environment Essay
Our environment undoubtedly has many things we can use to benefit our everyday lives. Even if
our environment is not in tip–top shape, we need to start taking care of it better. If we don't many
things will happen. These things include plants dying, animals going extinct, air becoming polluted,
coral reefs dying, and water rapidly coming contaminated. Another problem our environment has to
face, overcome, or adapt too is Global Warming. Global Warming has and will continue to impact our
environment worldwide if we do not begin taking immediate action and do something to protect our
environment.
Protecting our environment is indeed the first action that should be taken. Protecting the
environment should take place locally and globally in my opinion. There are many things that our
local environment could do that would have have a tremendous impact on our environment that
genuinely would not take oodles of effort. A few of these could be as easy as recycling soda cans,
old school or work papers, and glass bottles and taking them to a local recycling center. When you
recycle you are reusing things or making them into new things. Two more examples would be
hosting or participating in a highway clean up, or planting a community garden at a park. Globally,
humans are responsible for Greenhouse Gasses, pollution, and fossil fuel shortages. Globally, if
everyone pitched in just a little bit, greenhouse gas emissions could go down drastically. The way we
could cut these emissions

Essay on To Save the Earth
To Save the Earth
I wonder how much the front yard of my childhood home is worth. Of course, it's worth less now
than before. Once, a stately tree stood in each corner: a tall lilac, a pine, a cherry tree, and a
droopy evergreen. My favorite tree lived in the middle. I never knew what kind it was, but every
spring it blossomed in delicate pink, and on warm afternoons, I read under its canopy. The frontyard
no longer looks like that, however. My father removed the lilac bush because it made the lawn too
difficult to mow, and cut many of the branches from thepine and my pink–flowered tree so that
friends could park their cars on our lawn rather than getting ticketed for parking on the street.
Eventually, my tree died from those...show more content...
He likens destroying our environmental heritage to destroying our cultural one. He questions
whether we can really replace or improve upon the works of Shakespeare, Beethoven, Goethe and
the Beatles the way some claim science will one day allow us to do with living creatures. Pointing
to various psychological studies, Wilson also suggests that we instinctively feel an affinity for other
forms of life and hence that living in balance with nature is necessary for our mental well being.
Although thought–provoking, his stance isn't persuasive enough to convince someone like my dad,
or even me.
To convince someone like my dad that the environment is worth saving, a monetary value needs
to be attached to it. Wilson does so, exploring the value of the environment as both a source of
raw materials and a provider of services. Particularly compelling is his discussion of the forested
watershed in the Catskill Mountains of New York, which purifies the water supply for New York
City. As the watershed became more and more polluted, "Officials in New York City...could build a
filtration plant to replace the Catskills Watershed, at $6 billion to $8 billion capital cost, followed by
$300 million annual running costs; or else they could restore the Catskills Watershed to somewhere
near its original purification capacity for $1 billion, with subsequently low maintenance costs."
He also estimates that

100 Ways to Save Mother Earth
100 Ways To Save Mother Earth– Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Respond
Our Mother Earth is currently suffering from different types of pollution brought about by humans.
And with this, a lot of negative effects have emerged. Reports of flash floods brought about by
illegal logging can be seen on the news. Destruction of the forest and exploitation of wild life
resulted in the extinction of exotic animals. Increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere brought
global warming.
There are numerous environmental issues that we have to address. Where do we start? The answer
is simple: Within ourselves. If every single person in the entire planet will care about their
environment and do their part, it can bring about a lot of change and we can save our...show more

Ecological Systems Theory Essay
From the time a person first enters this world until they taketheir final breath, they go through many
changes that will shape their character and determine how they handle situations in their life. Many
different psychologists have studied human behavior and why it is that we react a certain way in
different circumstances, and ultimately why we behave in the way that we do. Urie Bronfenbrenner
developed a model called the "Ecological Systems Theory" that attempts to explain what factors
influence a person's behavior and which ones have the most impact. The model is broken down into
five systems: the "Microsystem", "Mesosystem", "Exosystem", "Macrosystem", and
"Chronosystem". The "Microsystem" is considered the most intimate or most...show more content...
I tried to compare her influences, concerns, and experiences with mine and found that we are
similar in many ways I was not aware of, but also very different in others. There were many factors
in my aunt's life that influenced where she is today in her life. When she was twenty–one, in the
"Microsystem" level, three people that truly influenced her life at the time were my grandparents,
Mimi and Papa, and my great grandmother, Mamette. My aunt was extremely close to Mamette, and
confided in her in many ways. Since all three were members of her close family, they would be
considered part of this system and very crucial to her development at the time. My aunt told me
after she graduated from college all she wanted to do was party and not find a job, and I found
that these factors and this mindset were part of the "Mesosystem". The fact that she was partying
all the time, or her social life, was hindering her from finding a job and moving on from her
college days. Since the "Mesosystem" is essentially factors that influence other factors or
circumstances, the fact that she had recently graduated from college made her feel like she had
the right to party and not find a job. Another factor in her lack of diligence toward finding a job
was that her parents did not put a lot of pressure on her to do so. Along with factors in the
"Microsystem" and "Mesosystem", the "Exosystem" in her life consisted of many

Mother Earth Essay
Native Indians refer to the Earth as "Mother Earth". They believe that Mother Earth will provide
everything that is needed for their survival. It is because of her that we are able to live and survive.
Since Mother Earth provides for all, we are expected to show respect for her and everything else that
surrounds us. According to Native Indians everything, whether living or non–living, has a spirit and
is sacred. Because of this Native Indians believe everything to be related. Native Indians saw the
world around them as sacred and deserving of respect. They saw their world to be a delicate
balance of respect and caring for one another and all within the world. They believed that animals

Even though the Thunder Beings can choose to destroy they are revered as great protectors.
Sometimes the Thunder Beings reveal themselves to those on earth. Their physical form is
described as a great Thunderbird with large claws and wings, and is large enough to carry a killer
whale. The Native Indians have a wonderful relationship with the Earth and everything around
them. It is not easy to maintain these spiritual and sacred beliefs with each generation. In many
tribes, the elders would look after the children and raise them while the parents carried on with
daily life and chores. The elders ensured to pass on their knowledge and teach their beliefs and
ways of life to the children. This not only kept their way of life alive with each passing generation,
but ensured that the balance between them and the Earth was maintained. The Native Indians
believe that all things come from the earth and once their cycle is complete they will return to the
earth upon their death. It is strongly believed that what you put into the Earth is returned to you.
The Earth will nurture you as long as you nurture and respect her. In other words, if you abuse and
disrespect the Earth then you shall reap what you sow. The land and water will eventually become
poisoned and no longer able to sustain life as it once had. Native Indians do not refer to those who
are able to communicate with the spirit world as shamans, rather they

Save The Earth?
How can we spread awareness of the human impact on the earth; if any; using scientific fact?
Extending the awareness of human impact on earth can be done by spreading information to the
public of human impact, using social media platforms, and by applying the methods of persuasion to
convince the people in saving the earth. By spreading information on human impact on social media
platforms and using the methods of persuasion, we will encourage others to save our Earth. First,
only about 50% of people in the U.S.A. realize that global warming is caused by human activities,
although most people understand that deforestation, vehicles, and burning fossil fuels all contribute
to global warming. Also, only an average of 50–75% of adults in the U.S. think that global warming
is occurring. To have people become involved in the process saving our planet from global
warming and other harmful actions caused by humans, we need to inform them on how harmful
global warming is to our world and how human have helped to slowly destroy our world and have
impacted this destruction. These are just some of the facts on human impact that we could educate
the public about. From 1961 to 2010, the temperatures of the ocean have increased dramatically,
almost 250 joules from the temperature in 1961. Also, our global mean temperature of anomalies in
those years has risen a large amount from 1900 to 2000, almost 0.9 degrees Celsius. When people

Pollution is Destroying Our Planet Essay
The Earth is a beautiful place to live in, it's amazing how many things we take for granted.
When you can't be bothered leaving your bed, you don't think about the experiences you can have
in this world. You don't take notice of the true beauty it brings, instead you overlook it and all you
see is cold mornings and school. But what if one day you wake up and it's all gone? Then you
would have wished you appreciated it more. You never realise how much you take for granted until
you've lost it. Pollution is destroying our planet, through our air, water and land. When will you
realise how much your planet does for you?
Above all, air pollution is threatening all life on earth. Most of air pollution we cause results from
the burning of...show more content...
Waterways are in serious danger of environmental catastrophe as a result of industrial waste and
domestic rubbish. Everything living thing depends on water for life.
Pollution affects marine life and freshwater animals. Factories built on the banks of estuaries
have been found dumping residue and waste in waterways. Poisons and other toxins have leaked
into the banks destroying species of native and endangered flora and causing outbreaks of disease
within these plants. Similar to this has been the impact on the habitats of waterborne creatures
interrupting delicate ecosystems and leading to the starvation and death of fish species. The flow
on the effect of diseased estuaries can be found in oceans where the food sources of large fish
species are being depleted. The impact of waste is compounded by the dumping of domestic
rubbish. Plastic bags, aluminium, tin and other rubbish that is an eyesore, becomes an ideal
breeding ground for dangerous bacteria that can cause disease. Did you know there is such thing as
a pacific garbage patch?
In late 1997 there was a discovery of a new continent that exists between the Hawaiian
Islands and the coast of California. This continent which is approximately two times the size of
Texas is not one that is comprised by land. Disturbingly it is a result of an estimated 3.5 million tons

Our agricultural industry is also doing some heavy damage. Methane which is a byproduct of the

methane are in direct relation to our livestock industry. The cattle are the main offenders at almost
1.4 billion cows used for food production. Each one of those cattle produces almost 220 lbs. of

atmosphere is 308 billion lbs. This is a scary number and it is all for the sake of a cheeseburger.
These gases are a genuine issue. (NASA) The big blue sky today contains more offending gas

The Impact of Human Activities on the Environment Everything that humans do has some impact on
the environment. Pollution is a result of human activities in the environment. The main sources of
pollution are farming, water pollution and air pollution. Farming is having an increased impact on
the environment. This is because there is increased pressure on farmers to produce a single crop
and to concentrate on one form of animal husbandry, such as, dairy cattle or pig breeding. This is
more economical because better use can be made of equipment and organizations such as
supermarkets have fewer farmers to negotiate purchases with. Also transport is much easier so
produce can be easily moved to more...show more content...
Pests are organisms that damage or destroy crops and livestock. There are different types of
chemical pesticides for killing different types of pest. Insecticides kill insect pests, herbicides kill
weeds and fungicides kill disease– causing fungi. Biodegradable pesticides are broken down by the
activities of organisms and only remain in the environment for short time after they are applied.
Non–biodegradable pesticides cannot be broken down by organisms and remain in the environment
for long periods. Bioaccumulation of non–biodegradable pesticides happens in food chains and webs.
Some modern farming practices are damaging the environment and the destruction of habitats
reduces the diversity of ecosystems, making them less stable and farming less sustainable. A balance
is needed between increasing food production and the need for conserving the environment.
Alternative strategies need to be used in order to achieve this. If organic fertilizers are used too
much little humus is added to the soil, they damage communities of microorganisms involved in
decomposition and the nitrogen cycle, it damages soil structure leading to increased erosion and it
increases the risk of eutrophication due to run off. Organic fertilizers such as manure avoid these
problems and

We were born into this world completely provided with everything– food, air, natural riches and a
beautiful environment that would serve as our home. We are so secure, safe and well–nourished
within Mother Earth's womb. However, we never saw the real extent of how precious this planet is
to us and we went out the world as a successful species but completely a failure as sons and
daughters of Mother Earth. Instead of protecting and nurturing the environment, we did just the
opposite. We built factories that release substances that destroy the environment and kill many

So, what I'll do is to maintain this kind of attitude. Whenever I have trash in hand and there is no
trash bin in sight, I will just place the trash in my pockets or in my bag. Or I will look around for
a trash bin. Maybe, what I will try to add to my list of good deeds is picking up litters and
throwing them to the nearest trash bin. In that way, I would not only help maintain a cleaner
environment, I might also encourage other people to do the same or at least be ashamed of their
disposing of trash in wrong places. Number six: Promote environmental awareness. During second
year, I was one of the appointed people to organize an environmental camp for our batch as a
culminating activity for our Environmental Science class. It was really challenging and fulfilling at
the same time because I knew I was doing something that would benefit the environment. It was
nice organizing activities that would increase awareness about the environment and its processes.
Since that time, I've always wanted to promote environmental awareness and I promise to do that.
Great things could come from small things so I will promote environmental awareness by starting
with my family. I will tell my mom and my brother not to throw trash everywhere and follow the
segregation policy of our community. When I have my own family in the future, I will always
teach my kids to reduce, reuse and recycle. I will have an

Mother Earth Destruction
The destruction of the great mother Earth is often overlooked downplayed and underrated leading
to mass pollution and in return has lead to less a chance of human evolution. Accompanied by mass
death of children and adults alike. In our most recent years we have seen earth truly become
perverted by self serving monsters looking to establish the wellbeing of themselves. "One hundred
and ten million americans live amongst such high levels of air pollution the federal government
considers it to be harmful to their health" if we plan to survive as a human species, evolve and
continue to grow we will need to understand how important the purity of Earth is needed. We must
come together and heal ourselves , our other humans and our mother Earth.
Destruction of mother earth is killing our life force slowly and steadily and increasing the amount
of difficulties a regular person or animal may have to go through in a lifetime." the united states
makes up only 5 percent of the life on earth but uses 30 percent of its resources." this statistic is
truly blasphemy what a selfish country benefiting off the destruction of our only physical life

all. Homelessness and starvation is at an all time high on earth but our technological and
evolutionary advances are more than capable of solving most human problems including
homelessness and starvation. Something doesn't quite add up "550,000

Recycling: Save Planet Earth
Recycling: Save Planet Earth
Preserving the environment is very important. One way that would be possible is by recycling.
Recycling is the recovery and reprocessing of waste materials for use in new products. There are
important environmental and economic benefits connected with recycling. Common materials that
are recycled consist of aluminum cans, glass, paper, wood, and plastic ("Recycling"). Cleveland,
Ohio joined the ranks of requiring recycling and also fines the homeowners for not disposing of
waste correctly or leaving cans out too early or too long (McElroy 1). Michele McCay says that
recycling is one of the easiest, most tangible ways of taking action for the planet (par. 1). If that is
the case, why is it not required in all...show more content...
Natural resources are naturally occurring substances or features of the environment that can be
exploited by humans to satisfy needs and wants. Natural resources can be fresh water, air,
sunlight, or even a living organism such as a fish or trees. Recycling products like paper can save
trees and fresh water. Recycled paper supplies almost half of the raw materials used to make new
paper products. Without recycling, this material would come from trees. In the article, "Reasons
Why You Should Recycle," Jason Brennan states that Americans' disposed of 83 million tons of
paper products in 2003 (par. 4). According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), by
recycling nearly half of that, people saved 705 million trees and 290 billion gallons of fresh water
(par. 3). Recycling products like plastic can lessen oil consumption, as well. Natural resources are
very important. Not only does recycling save natural resources, but it also conserves energy.
Second, when a person recycles, it conserves energy. Recycling could translate into a huge
decrease in energy costs. It takes less energy to make products from recycled materials than it does
to make products from new materials. It takes less energy to recycle old aluminum cans than it
does to make it from new materials. Jason Brennan states that in 2003, the energy savings from
recycling 54 billion aluminum cans exceeded the energy equivalent of 15 million barrels of oil (par.
3). Seven years

Environmental Fundamentals
Introduction
Environmental science is defined as the study of the environment and the interconnecting systems it
contains, furthermore, the way people interact with their natural surroundings and use natural
resources (wise geek, 2013). Scientist in this field is highly interdisciplinary and extremely diverse,
for example, a scientist might study volcanoes or climate change. This essay will cover the
following; the definition of environmental science, the relationship between science and technology
and how it affects environmental problems; the concept of environmental sustainability and why it
should be studied; how human...show more content...
Environmental Sustainability
Environmental sustainability is the process of making sure current processes of interaction with the
environment are pursued with the idea of keeping the environment as pristine as naturally possible
based on ideal–seeking behavior (Wikipedia, 2010). What makes environmental sustainability so
important is that it demands that society designs activities to meet human needs while indefinitely
preserving the life support systems of the planet (Wikipedia, 2010). Human consumption can only
use the nature's resources at a rate that can be replenished naturally.
Human Values affecting Society
The most devastating environmental change of all is the loss of biodiversity. The rate of species
extinction has remained at one species per million per year, furthermore, the accelerating destruction
of habitats throughout the world leads to projections of the loss of two–thirds of all species on earth
by the end of this century, and millions of years to recover from the Cretaceous period
(mindfully.org, 2013). As individuals, we obtain our food, directly or indirectly from plants, for
example, plant our primary use of medicines. Biodiversity also determines the properties of
communities and ecosystems, which capture energy from the sun. The world is less resilient, more
homogeneous, less interesting, and with fewer opportunities for our descendants and ourselves:
where the process reaches

Persuasive Speech On Save Nature
One of the greatest gifts on this earth is the many species of animals that roam our planet and the
wildlife that inhabit our world. A vast and diverse spectrum of wildlife keeps our planet functioning
properly and it gives humans something to wonder at. Sadly, our planet's species of animals are
disappearing due to human activity. Our human activity is causing the next mass extinction and we
are turning a blind eye to it. The sixth extinction in our known history is happening and most of
don't care or have very little knowledge of what's going on. We are ignoring that animals are
disappearing and its changing our ecosystem. "Unlike past mass extinctions, caused by events like

Wild plants and agricultural vegetations rest on on cross–fertilization for reproduction. Produce such
as fruits and vegetables, both vital parts of the human diet, are all depend on bees and various
insects to transmit from one flower to another. But when the environment is distributed by human
activity and bees start to disappear, the cycle of life is basically broken, and this reduces the
varieties of these pollinators, fruits and vegetables start to suffer and we as human start to feel the
effects of bees disappearing from the environment. Many plants also rely on animals, predominantly
animal species that consume fruit as part of their diet and disperse seeds during their extraction
process. Destroying the territory of these animals can severely affect the plant in surrounding area
that depend for reproduction through seed dispersion. "Overall ecosystem instability due to reduced
biodiversity ranks among the consequences of species extinctions. As the number of species in a
food chain decreases, there are fewer sustainable alternatives for members of the food chain that had
depended on the extinct species. Biodiversity also lends genetic variability to a population, helping it
adapt to fluctuating environmental conditions." (Dowd, 2018)The food chain and environment are

Humans Damaging the Environment Essay
Humans Damaging the Environment We, humanity, have a remarkable ability to define the world in
terms of human needs and perceptions. However, we forget about 'Mother Nature's' urgency to
maintain a balance, purity and the need for time to replenish the resources we extract so quickly.
Throughout history, humanity has implemented much new technology with an uncertainty of its
effect on the environment. Today we are beginning to feel the repercussions of these developments on
the environment. However, the worst is yet to come. At this time we have not felt all the damage
that will come from our inventions, nonetheless we continue to further...show more content...
Therefore, through science and technology we are acting sustainable, as not to put future
generations at risk, for we can positively count on new developments to take place of older ones.
With this view, we can be certain that all of our resources can be replaced and that it is not too
precarious a subject to gamble on.
More so, as our world's nations grow evermore interconnected we not only feel pressure from our
own societies, but from others too. This seems reasonable when discussing the environment, as it
effects us all. Politicians are already underway in setting environmental targets together, in which all
nations aim and work towards. This induces a greater amount of pressure put on each nation to
contribute, which in turn will put more pressure on the economies and societies throughout the
world to participate in the global 'clean up'.
Lastly, as developing nations continue to develop, they can examine our history and avoid many
obstacles we were faced with. These newly industrialized nations will not have to leave the same
impact on the environment as we did. In twenty–five years to come as they continue to grow, they
will have access to our most 'environmentally friendly' technologies, without having to experiment
and wait to conclude the aftermath of it's effect on the environment.

observed in the month of March every year in which people all over the world switch off the lights
and devote in saving the environment. Demonstrations are carried out by the conservation groups at
various levels in the form of seminars, debates and discussions by the eminent personalities.
Ways to save Earth
There are many ways through which we all can contribute in the protection and conservation of
species and keeping the earth clean. We should also try to lessen the use of natural resources so that
there will be enough resources for the coming generation as well.
We should find solutions to protect and save endangered species as they are essential part of our

For this,'Aircel' has launched an awareness campaign to 'save tigers' in which they convince people

Environmental Message in Wall-E Essay
Wall–E
Science/Description Essay

Introduction
The film Wall–E is related to the science and description area because it talks about the environment
and what can happen in the future. The film starts with a robot named Wall–E and he has been
assigned to clean up Earth from all the waste that the humans have left behind. It shows him coming
out of his house that is full of little different things that humans would think are trash but he does
not know what they are and considers them treasures. As he is performing his duties he hears
another ship land and drops off another robot named Eve. Eve's mission is to find any living...show

When it comes to what could happen if we do not educate society on taking responsibility for their
waste and disposing it in the proper way this could happen to our planet. I know that after seeing
what can happen I have taken recycling more seriously and I have also made sure to educate my
family and friends because I want them to do their part on going green and taking responsibility
for their waste. I know this huge change on getting everyone to go green will not happen
overnight but if we all are more conscious about and do our parts then I am sure that one day we
can make sure that it does not happen like in the movie. The second global implication for this
movie is concerning technology. In the movie humans are living in the future on a space ship
because they cannot return to Earth for it is uninhabitable from all the waste. When we are
introduced to the humans they are all wearing red clothes, are fat and lazy, and are all sitting on
chairs either watching television or on telephone calls on tablets. That we are too dependent on
routines and habits that make us distracted and not able to make our own decisions. When Wall–E
ends up accidently bumping into one of the ladies she realizes that her clothes have changed color
and that she finally opens her eyes and sees everything from a new perspective and realizes that she
does not have to be dependent on technology. I realized that from watching this movie there are
times that we do depend on

Save Mother Earth Essay

  • 1. Examples Of Dance For Mother Earth Essay Question 1 The video I selected for this question is 3.2 "Dance for Mother Earth". To begin, I see the symbolism of the circle (circular vision) present throughout the piece. Two examples are when the individuals are dancing/walking in a circular fashion to music during the power as well as when the video references some people living by the way of the square and the idea that we need to live by the way of the circle. To continue, ancestry (respect for ancestry) was present throughout the piece as well. To begin, the idea of struggling to find the balance between what is important and what is not it brought up alongside the question of how our ancestors would feel about our values and actions. Further, the video highlighted not only learning and knowing the way of their ancestors but also following them in order to heal Mother Earth. The video continued on to address the reason people dance and that it is to honor their family, the elderly, and their community in order to connect generations....show more content... In the beginning, the video references communicating with one another through references to Native Americans before events and ceremonies such as baseball and football games as well as setting formal education requirements for Native American history in order to communicate everything they went through and their beliefs and such. Further, the video discusses the role of the pow wow in Native American life which is to have intertribal unity where they teach, share values, as well as heal together. For this to occur, communication must also occur. Additionally, the drum during the pow wow serves as the heartbeat of the event to connect each other and ancestors with each song having a purpose and lesson to teach all. In general, a pow wow would not even be possible without a multitude of people communicating in order to plan, organize, and facilitate the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Importance Of Protecting The Environment Essay Our environment undoubtedly has many things we can use to benefit our everyday lives. Even if our environment is not in tip–top shape, we need to start taking care of it better. If we don't many things will happen. These things include plants dying, animals going extinct, air becoming polluted, coral reefs dying, and water rapidly coming contaminated. Another problem our environment has to face, overcome, or adapt too is Global Warming. Global Warming has and will continue to impact our environment worldwide if we do not begin taking immediate action and do something to protect our environment. Protecting our environment is indeed the first action that should be taken. Protecting the environment should take place locally and globally in my opinion. There are many things that our local environment could do that would have have a tremendous impact on our environment that genuinely would not take oodles of effort. A few of these could be as easy as recycling soda cans, old school or work papers, and glass bottles and taking them to a local recycling center. When you recycle you are reusing things or making them into new things. Two more examples would be hosting or participating in a highway clean up, or planting a community garden at a park. Globally, humans are responsible for Greenhouse Gasses, pollution, and fossil fuel shortages. Globally, if everyone pitched in just a little bit, greenhouse gas emissions could go down drastically. The way we could cut these emissions Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay on To Save the Earth To Save the Earth I wonder how much the front yard of my childhood home is worth. Of course, it's worth less now than before. Once, a stately tree stood in each corner: a tall lilac, a pine, a cherry tree, and a droopy evergreen. My favorite tree lived in the middle. I never knew what kind it was, but every spring it blossomed in delicate pink, and on warm afternoons, I read under its canopy. The frontyard no longer looks like that, however. My father removed the lilac bush because it made the lawn too difficult to mow, and cut many of the branches from thepine and my pink–flowered tree so that friends could park their cars on our lawn rather than getting ticketed for parking on the street. Eventually, my tree died from those...show more content... He likens destroying our environmental heritage to destroying our cultural one. He questions whether we can really replace or improve upon the works of Shakespeare, Beethoven, Goethe and the Beatles the way some claim science will one day allow us to do with living creatures. Pointing to various psychological studies, Wilson also suggests that we instinctively feel an affinity for other forms of life and hence that living in balance with nature is necessary for our mental well being. Although thought–provoking, his stance isn't persuasive enough to convince someone like my dad, or even me. To convince someone like my dad that the environment is worth saving, a monetary value needs to be attached to it. Wilson does so, exploring the value of the environment as both a source of raw materials and a provider of services. Particularly compelling is his discussion of the forested watershed in the Catskill Mountains of New York, which purifies the water supply for New York City. As the watershed became more and more polluted, "Officials in New York City...could build a filtration plant to replace the Catskills Watershed, at $6 billion to $8 billion capital cost, followed by $300 million annual running costs; or else they could restore the Catskills Watershed to somewhere near its original purification capacity for $1 billion, with subsequently low maintenance costs." He also estimates that Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 5. Ecological Systems Theory Essay From the time a person first enters this world until they taketheir final breath, they go through many changes that will shape their character and determine how they handle situations in their life. Many different psychologists have studied human behavior and why it is that we react a certain way in different circumstances, and ultimately why we behave in the way that we do. Urie Bronfenbrenner developed a model called the "Ecological Systems Theory" that attempts to explain what factors influence a person's behavior and which ones have the most impact. The model is broken down into five systems: the "Microsystem", "Mesosystem", "Exosystem", "Macrosystem", and "Chronosystem". The "Microsystem" is considered the most intimate or most...show more content... I tried to compare her influences, concerns, and experiences with mine and found that we are similar in many ways I was not aware of, but also very different in others. There were many factors in my aunt's life that influenced where she is today in her life. When she was twenty–one, in the "Microsystem" level, three people that truly influenced her life at the time were my grandparents, Mimi and Papa, and my great grandmother, Mamette. My aunt was extremely close to Mamette, and confided in her in many ways. Since all three were members of her close family, they would be considered part of this system and very crucial to her development at the time. My aunt told me after she graduated from college all she wanted to do was party and not find a job, and I found that these factors and this mindset were part of the "Mesosystem". The fact that she was partying all the time, or her social life, was hindering her from finding a job and moving on from her college days. Since the "Mesosystem" is essentially factors that influence other factors or circumstances, the fact that she had recently graduated from college made her feel like she had the right to party and not find a job. Another factor in her lack of diligence toward finding a job was that her parents did not put a lot of pressure on her to do so. Along with factors in the "Microsystem" and "Mesosystem", the "Exosystem" in her life consisted of many Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Mother Earth Essay Native Indians refer to the Earth as "Mother Earth". They believe that Mother Earth will provide everything that is needed for their survival. It is because of her that we are able to live and survive. Since Mother Earth provides for all, we are expected to show respect for her and everything else that surrounds us. According to Native Indians everything, whether living or non–living, has a spirit and is sacred. Because of this Native Indians believe everything to be related. Native Indians saw the world around them as sacred and deserving of respect. They saw their world to be a delicate balance of respect and caring for one another and all within the world. They believed that animals sacrificed themselves for the people. The...show more content... Even though the Thunder Beings can choose to destroy they are revered as great protectors. Sometimes the Thunder Beings reveal themselves to those on earth. Their physical form is described as a great Thunderbird with large claws and wings, and is large enough to carry a killer whale. The Native Indians have a wonderful relationship with the Earth and everything around them. It is not easy to maintain these spiritual and sacred beliefs with each generation. In many tribes, the elders would look after the children and raise them while the parents carried on with daily life and chores. The elders ensured to pass on their knowledge and teach their beliefs and ways of life to the children. This not only kept their way of life alive with each passing generation, but ensured that the balance between them and the Earth was maintained. The Native Indians believe that all things come from the earth and once their cycle is complete they will return to the earth upon their death. It is strongly believed that what you put into the Earth is returned to you. The Earth will nurture you as long as you nurture and respect her. In other words, if you abuse and disrespect the Earth then you shall reap what you sow. The land and water will eventually become poisoned and no longer able to sustain life as it once had. • 7. Speech On Save The Earth Save The Earth? How can we spread awareness of the human impact on the earth; if any; using scientific fact? Extending the awareness of human impact on earth can be done by spreading information to the public of human impact, using social media platforms, and by applying the methods of persuasion to convince the people in saving the earth. By spreading information on human impact on social media platforms and using the methods of persuasion, we will encourage others to save our Earth. First, only about 50% of people in the U.S.A. realize that global warming is caused by human activities, although most people understand that deforestation, vehicles, and burning fossil fuels all contribute to global warming. Also, only an average of 50–75% of adults in the U.S. think that global warming is occurring. To have people become involved in the process saving our planet from global warming and other harmful actions caused by humans, we need to inform them on how harmful global warming is to our world and how human have helped to slowly destroy our world and have impacted this destruction. These are just some of the facts on human impact that we could educate the public about. From 1961 to 2010, the temperatures of the ocean have increased dramatically, almost 250 joules from the temperature in 1961. Also, our global mean temperature of anomalies in those years has risen a large amount from 1900 to 2000, almost 0.9 degrees Celsius. When you can't be bothered leaving your bed, you don't think about the experiences you can have in this world. You don't take notice of the true beauty it brings, instead you overlook it and all you see is cold mornings and school. But what if one day you wake up and it's all gone? Then you would have wished you appreciated it more. You never realise how much you take for granted until you've lost it. Pollution is destroying our planet, through our air, water and land. When will you realise how much your planet does for you? Above all, air pollution is threatening all life on earth. Most of air pollution we cause results from the burning of...show more content... Waterways are in serious danger of environmental catastrophe as a result of industrial waste and domestic rubbish. Everything living thing depends on water for life. Pollution affects marine life and freshwater animals. Factories built on the banks of estuaries have been found dumping residue and waste in waterways. Poisons and other toxins have leaked into the banks destroying species of native and endangered flora and causing outbreaks of disease within these plants. Similar to this has been the impact on the habitats of waterborne creatures interrupting delicate ecosystems and leading to the starvation and death of fish species. The flow on the effect of diseased estuaries can be found in oceans where the food sources of large fish species are being depleted. The impact of waste is compounded by the dumping of domestic rubbish. Plastic bags, aluminium, tin and other rubbish that is an eyesore, becomes an ideal breeding ground for dangerous bacteria that can cause disease. Did you know there is such thing as a pacific garbage patch? In late 1997 there was a discovery of a new continent that exists between the Hawaiian Islands and the coast of California. This continent which is approximately two times the size of Texas is not one that is comprised by land. There is a real threat looming over our entire planet and it is requiring immediate action or the consequences are going to dire. We will lose everything if we do not change how we interact with the environment. Instead of exploiting her every plentiful bounty and turning beauty into our convenient luxury we need to be protecting her with the same ferocity as if someone was taking advantage and abusing our actual mother. Let's do some math here the annual amount of just methane being dumped into the atmosphere is 308 billion lbs. This is a scary number and it is all for the sake of a cheeseburger. These gases are a genuine issue. (NASA) The big blue sky today contains more offending gas molecules. • 10. The Impact of Human Activities on the Environment Everything that humans do has some impact on the environment. Pollution is a result of human activities in the environment. The main sources of pollution are farming, water pollution and air pollution. Farming is having an increased impact on the environment. This is because there is increased pressure on farmers to produce a single crop and to concentrate on one form of animal husbandry, such as, dairy cattle or pig breeding. This is more economical because better use can be made of equipment and organizations such as supermarkets have fewer farmers to negotiate purchases with. Also transport is much easier so produce can be easily moved to more...show more content... Pests are organisms that damage or destroy crops and livestock. There are different types of chemical pesticides for killing different types of pest. Insecticides kill insect pests, herbicides kill weeds and fungicides kill disease– causing fungi. Biodegradable pesticides are broken down by the activities of organisms and only remain in the environment for short time after they are applied. Non–biodegradable pesticides cannot be broken down by organisms and remain in the environment for long periods. Bioaccumulation of non–biodegradable pesticides happens in food chains and webs. Some modern farming practices are damaging the environment and the destruction of habitats reduces the diversity of ecosystems, making them less stable and farming less sustainable. A balance is needed between increasing food production and the need for conserving the environment. Alternative strategies need to be used in order to achieve this. If organic fertilizers are used too much little humus is added to the soil, they damage communities of microorganisms involved in decomposition and the nitrogen cycle, it damages soil structure leading to increased erosion and it increases the risk of eutrophication due to run off. Organic fertilizers such as manure avoid these problems and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Or I will look around for a trash bin. Maybe, what I will try to add to my list of good deeds is picking up litters and throwing them to the nearest trash bin. In that way, I would not only help maintain a cleaner environment, I might also encourage other people to do the same or at least be ashamed of their disposing of trash in wrong places. Number six: Promote environmental awareness. During second year, I was one of the appointed people to organize an environmental camp for our batch as a culminating activity for our Environmental Science class. It was really challenging and fulfilling at the same time because I knew I was doing something that would benefit the environment. It was nice organizing activities that would increase awareness about the environment and its processes. Since that time, I've always wanted to promote environmental awareness and I promise to do that. Great things could come from small things so I will promote environmental awareness by starting with my family. I will tell my mom and my brother not to throw trash everywhere and follow the segregation policy of our community. When I have my own family in the future, I will always teach my kids to reduce, reuse and recycle. I will have an Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Mother Earth Destruction The destruction of the great mother Earth is often overlooked downplayed and underrated leading to mass pollution and in return has lead to less a chance of human evolution. Accompanied by mass death of children and adults alike. In our most recent years we have seen earth truly become perverted by self serving monsters looking to establish the wellbeing of themselves. "One hundred and ten million americans live amongst such high levels of air pollution the federal government considers it to be harmful to their health" if we plan to survive as a human species, evolve and continue to grow we will need to understand how important the purity of Earth is needed. We must come together and heal ourselves , our other humans and our mother Earth. Destruction of mother earth is killing our life force slowly and steadily and increasing the amount of difficulties a regular person or animal may have to go through in a lifetime." the united states makes up only 5 percent of the life on earth but uses 30 percent of its resources." this statistic is truly blasphemy what a selfish country benefiting off the destruction of our only physical life source. True claims can be made saying that it is for a better benefit but as i see it no one benefits at all. Homelessness and starvation is at an all time high on earth but our technological and evolutionary advances are more than capable of solving most human problems including homelessness and starvation. Earth is our home, our live depend on what the earth provide and we cannot live a second without the thing that the earth provides. At the beginning, God have created the earth completely balance with its function. The forest stands as the heart of the earth because trees provide human oxygen and absorb the carbon dioxide. The earth cooled, the water vapor condensed and fell in torrential downpours at the right distance of the sun not too far and not too near. The earth perfect balance enables to conserve water. It is same with our relation to each other and our environment. If we use the natural resource, too much without gave it back to the earth it will destroy the earth. It is good to hear that most of government around the world has provide the national park, ecotourism education, rules to protect coral reef, eco friendly product. The rule, the policy all is good. However, it would not be success without us. Every single choice for the environment that we make determine for its sustainable. In order to save oil we can do a simple and common activity such as if we go for short distance we can go by foot. Use water wisely; always remember that there is still people live under the lack of water condition. This is applying as well as we eat food. • 14. Recycling: Save Planet Earth Recycling: Save Planet Earth Preserving the environment is very important. One way that would be possible is by recycling. Recycling is the recovery and reprocessing of waste materials for use in new products. There are important environmental and economic benefits connected with recycling. Common materials that are recycled consist of aluminum cans, glass, paper, wood, and plastic ("Recycling"). Cleveland, Ohio joined the ranks of requiring recycling and also fines the homeowners for not disposing of waste correctly or leaving cans out too early or too long (McElroy 1). Michele McCay says that recycling is one of the easiest, most tangible ways of taking action for the planet (par. 1). If that is the case, why is it not required in all...show more content... Natural resources are naturally occurring substances or features of the environment that can be exploited by humans to satisfy needs and wants. Natural resources can be fresh water, air, sunlight, or even a living organism such as a fish or trees. Recycling products like paper can save trees and fresh water. Recycled paper supplies almost half of the raw materials used to make new paper products. Without recycling, this material would come from trees. In the article, "Reasons Why You Should Recycle," Jason Brennan states that Americans' disposed of 83 million tons of paper products in 2003 (par. 4). According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), by recycling nearly half of that, people saved 705 million trees and 290 billion gallons of fresh water (par. 3). Recycling products like plastic can lessen oil consumption, as well. Natural resources are very important. Not only does recycling save natural resources, but it also conserves energy. Second, when a person recycles, it conserves energy. Recycling could translate into a huge decrease in energy costs. It takes less energy to make products from recycled materials than it does to make products from new materials. It takes less energy to recycle old aluminum cans than it does to make it from new materials. Jason Brennan states that in 2003, the energy savings from recycling 54 billion aluminum cans exceeded the energy equivalent of 15 million barrels of oil (par. 3). Environmental Science Essay Environmental Fundamentals Laura Jackson Env/100 April 8, 2013 JOHN ENSWORTH Environmental Fundamentals Introduction Environmental science is defined as the study of the environment and the interconnecting systems it contains, furthermore, the way people interact with their natural surroundings and use natural resources (wise geek, 2013). Scientist in this field is highly interdisciplinary and extremely diverse, for example, a scientist might study volcanoes or climate change. This essay will cover the following; the definition of environmental science, the relationship between science and technology and how it affects environmental problems; the concept of environmental sustainability and why it should be studied; how human...show more content... Environmental Sustainability Environmental sustainability is the process of making sure current processes of interaction with the environment are pursued with the idea of keeping the environment as pristine as naturally possible based on ideal–seeking behavior (Wikipedia, 2010). What makes environmental sustainability so important is that it demands that society designs activities to meet human needs while indefinitely preserving the life support systems of the planet (Wikipedia, 2010). Human consumption can only use the nature's resources at a rate that can be replenished naturally. Human Values affecting Society The most devastating environmental change of all is the loss of biodiversity. The rate of species extinction has remained at one species per million per year, furthermore, the accelerating destruction of habitats throughout the world leads to projections of the loss of two–thirds of all species on earth by the end of this century, and millions of years to recover from the Cretaceous period (mindfully.org, 2013). As individuals, we obtain our food, directly or indirectly from plants, for example, plant our primary use of medicines. Biodiversity also determines the properties of communities and ecosystems, which capture energy from the sun. The world is less resilient, more homogeneous, less interesting, and with fewer opportunities for our descendants and ourselves: where the process reaches Get more content on HelpWriting.net

A vast and diverse spectrum of wildlife keeps our planet functioning properly and it gives humans something to wonder at. Sadly, our planet's species of animals are disappearing due to human activity. Our human activity is causing the next mass extinction and we are turning a blind eye to it. The sixth extinction in our known history is happening and most of don't care or have very little knowledge of what's going on. We are ignoring that animals are disappearing and its changing our ecosystem. Wild plants and agricultural vegetations rest on on cross–fertilization for reproduction. Produce such as fruits and vegetables, both vital parts of the human diet, are all depend on bees and various insects to transmit from one flower to another. But when the environment is distributed by human activity and bees start to disappear, the cycle of life is basically broken, and this reduces the varieties of these pollinators, fruits and vegetables start to suffer and we as human start to feel the effects of bees disappearing from the environment. Many plants also rely on animals, predominantly animal species that consume fruit as part of their diet and disperse seeds during their extraction process. Destroying the territory of these animals can severely affect the plant in surrounding area that depend for reproduction through seed dispersion. "Overall ecosystem instability due to reduced biodiversity ranks among the consequences of species extinctions. As the number of species in a food chain decreases, there are fewer sustainable alternatives for members of the food chain that had depended on the extinct species. Biodiversity also lends genetic variability to a population, helping it adapt to fluctuating environmental conditions." However, we forget about 'Mother Nature's' urgency to maintain a balance, purity and the need for time to replenish the resources we extract so quickly. Throughout history, humanity has implemented much new technology with an uncertainty of its effect on the environment. Today we are beginning to feel the repercussions of these developments on the environment. However, the worst is yet to come. At this time we have not felt all the damage that will come from our inventions, nonetheless we continue to further...show more content... Therefore, through science and technology we are acting sustainable, as not to put future generations at risk, for we can positively count on new developments to take place of older ones. With this view, we can be certain that all of our resources can be replaced and that it is not too precarious a subject to gamble on. More so, as our world's nations grow evermore interconnected we not only feel pressure from our own societies, but from others too. This seems reasonable when discussing the environment, as it effects us all. Politicians are already underway in setting environmental targets together, in which all nations aim and work towards. This induces a greater amount of pressure put on each nation to contribute, which in turn will put more pressure on the economies and societies throughout the world to participate in the global 'clean up'. Lastly, as developing nations continue to develop, they can examine our history and avoid many obstacles we were faced with. These newly industrialized nations will not have to leave the same impact on the environment as we did. In twenty–five years to come as they continue to grow, they will have access to our most 'environmentally friendly' technologies, without having to experiment and wait to conclude the aftermath of it's effect on the environment. Ways to save Earth There are many ways through which we all can contribute in the protection and conservation of species and keeping the earth clean. We should also try to lessen the use of natural resources so that there will be enough resources for the coming generation as well. We should find solutions to protect and save endangered species as they are essential part of our flora and fauna. Conservation groups should open more and more wildlife sanctuaries, national parks and biosphere reserves. For instance, there are very less number of tigers left on the earth. For this,'Aircel' has launched an awareness campaign to 'save tigers' in which they convince people to write articles and blogs to aware people across the world. People should try to use public transportation instead of personal vehicles as it will help in reducing pollution to great extent. Lesser the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Environmental Message in Wall-E Essay Wall–E Science/Description Essay Kari Jacobson Ottawa University LAS 45012– Global Issues in Liberal Arts Karen Bryson January 27, 2013 Introduction The film Wall–E is related to the science and description area because it talks about the environment and what can happen in the future. The film starts with a robot named Wall–E and he has been assigned to clean up Earth from all the waste that the humans have left behind. It shows him coming out of his house that is full of little different things that humans would think are trash but he does not know what they are and considers them treasures. As he is performing his duties he hears another ship land and drops off another robot named Eve. Eve's mission is to find any living...show more content... When it comes to what could happen if we do not educate society on taking responsibility for their waste and disposing it in the proper way this could happen to our planet. I know that after seeing what can happen I have taken recycling more seriously and I have also made sure to educate my family and friends because I want them to do their part on going green and taking responsibility for their waste. I know this huge change on getting everyone to go green will not happen overnight but if we all are more conscious about and do our parts then I am sure that one day we can make sure that it does not happen like in the movie. The second global implication for this movie is concerning technology. In the movie humans are living in the future on a space ship because they cannot return to Earth for it is uninhabitable from all the waste. When we are introduced to the humans they are all wearing red clothes, are fat and lazy, and are all sitting on chairs either watching television or on telephone calls on tablets. That we are too dependent on routines and habits that make us distracted and not able to make our own decisions. When Wall–E ends up accidently bumping into one of the ladies she realizes that her clothes have changed color and that she finally opens her eyes and sees everything from a new perspective and realizes that she does not have to be dependent on technology. I realized that from watching this movie there are times that we do depend on Get more content on HelpWriting.net
