going on? We were walking very fast, and it appeared that she was marching. We walked inside and
she asked for a manager. "OH NO!" I thought to myself. The manager came over and she gave me a
look and it didn't take a genius to know what she wanted me to do. I took the perfume from my
mom's hand and I gave it to the manager, and then I looked down at the floor in shame. I was
reminded by my mother that I was forgetting something, an apology to the manager. I did
apologize and he gave me a look I'll never forget, that dreaded look of utter disappointment, the
same as my mother had given me. I felt so ashamed and my heart continued to beat faster and
faster as he spoke to me, "I could call the police and have you arrested". "Blah, blah, blah..." was

story where a woodcutter drops his axe into a river by accident. Because this is his only means of

In certain situations, women lie because it is socially necessary.
"Honesty is the best policy" is an ideology spoken by many, but practiced by few. The most
common reason for this is obvious, we want to protect the feelings of others. We have been taught
at a very young age that lying is unacceptable, but by the age of five we are explicitly encouraged by
our parents to lie when we are told to tell grandma how much we absolutely love the itchy, ugly
sweater we got for Christmas.
Lying is necessary to maintain positive relationships. Society condones lying when our intentions are
to preserve the feelings of others.
Woman are required to lie for social purposes. We don't want to hear the truth all the time. The truth
hurts. We don't want the painful burden of always telling the truth. It's hurtful for those around us
and we will ,without a doubt lose all friendships.
If she wants to maintain a good relationship with her friends, she cannot be brutally honest all the
time. Especially, when handling romantic relationships. If her friend's boyfriend breaks up with her,
she is forced to lie:
Friend 1: WTH! Ben just broke up with me! There better not be another girl! I hate him so much!
Friend 2: No way! What happened? You two were perfect together. He doesn't know what he's
missing. He's stupid for letting you go.

Honesty can be defined as a facet of the moral character that conveys virtuous and positive
attributes including truthfulness, integrity, and straightforwardness of the conduct. The word
honesty also refers to the absence of cheating, theft, and lying. It also means to be sincere, fair and
loyal to others. Overall, it can be stated that honesty is a positive characteristic and attribute of an
individual that affects other in a positive manner. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the word
honesty. This paper will also discuss different perspectives of this word. This paper will also discuss

Almost all religions of the world promote and encourage honesty. Since the purpose of this paper
is not to discuss this paper with regard to religious types, therefore, it is just to mention here that
all religions of the world encourage honesty in all affairs of life. If one person behaves and acts in
an honest manner, then he will ultimately be rewarded either in a direct way or some indirect way.
The individual will get benefit by adopting the characteristic of honesty.
If one person is not honest, then he may have to speak several lies throughout his life. He will
have to speak lies in order to hide other lies. As a result, the chain of lies will continue that will
ultimately result in personal as well as a religious loss for the individual. Similarly, if an individual
speaks the truth and does not lie with others, then he will be rewarded in either way. Therefore, it
can be said that the people should not lie with others.
One part of honesty means to act in a certain way towards other. However, another part of the
definition of honesty means to treat others in a way you expect others to treat you. Similarly, this
definition of honesty means to be honest with yourself. If you consider yourself in a situation while
treating other, then it is more likely to be treated in a more lively, ethical and honest
