Descriptive Essay : My Dream
In my dream, I am in a small boat in rough waters. It is a dark night, with a full moon, dark clouds
filling the horizon. I am sitting in a small wooden boat in the ocean or large lake. I cannot see
land in any direction. The waters are rough, with large waves rocking the boat. The waves are so
rough they are causing water is spray into my face. I am afraid that the boat will tip over and I
will drown. I hold on to the sides with both hands. Suddenly up ahead I can see large rocks in the
water, large waves crashing against the dark gray slick sides. My boat is going to hit them.
Suddenly I am traveling between the rocks standing stark and cold on both sides. My small boat
travels between several of them and into a rushing river. I am full of dread, I will certainly sink
and drown. I travel down the rushing river. There are high, dark cliffs on both sides. In the
distance I can see the cliffs ending and the river disappearing out of my sight. As I travel closer and
closer I can hear the sounds of a waterfall. I travel down the river, between the cliffs and over a large
waterfall. I fall from a great height, walking up in my bed, still filling as though I will drown.
Working With The Dream A small boat in rough water feels like I am out of control. Control is an
allusion. It is dark and I do not know where I am or where I am going. I am in a small boat alone
like life that is sometimes solitary and must be traveled alone. Life can sometimes feel rough

Descriptive Essay On An Island
The first thing that hit me was the sound. The sounds of birds, the sound of the sea crawling onto
the sand. I felt million grains of sand underneath my feet and the cool breeze against my face.
Moreover, the tantalizing scent of the washed–up waves, coconut, and pineapple are all mixed into
one. As I opened my eyes, I was amazed by how easily fantasy and reality intertwined at that
moment. It was like continuing a dream after waking up. So I dragged myself up and turn my
head to the east. While the sky in the opposite direction was still dark, the dawn on the east side
already broke. A mixture of yellow and orange on the horizon beneath a dark neon blue ocean of
night had begun to peek out. As the sun continuously rose, all of the purple and deep blue faded
away, and the sun took its mighty position at the top of the sky, shining so very blindingly beautiful.
After I watched the sunrise, my mood lifted. Notwithstanding, I still feel threatened for I got
trapped on an island. I stood there for a moment and tried to figure out how I got to this island. A
series of quick flashback of a shipwreck, and a big storm. Consequently, I have a severe headache, so
I decided to sit down in the sand. While sitting down, I observe the island and find that I was
surrounded by water and some other islands. The water around the island was as clear as crystal,
to the point I can see the depths of the sea. Again, I dragged myself up and turn to the back; it
seemed like a tropical paradise. There were multitudes of greenery, lush foliage that looked like they
were painted on.
I walk deeper into the island. Nowhere, the sound of the birds started to raise up. It brought
freedom and happiness to the mind. Beautiful flowers in reds, yellows, purples, and pinks lounged
happily along the banks of small streams. Following the streams, it allowed me to hear the playful
sound of the water lapping on the rocks, and the sound of leaves rustling when the wind blew
gently, bringing with it a feeling of peace and tranquility. Continuing through the trees, my stomach
started growling like a monster who is ready to eat its prey. Accordingly, the smell of fruits
suddenly arises on my left side so I made my way toward the fruity smell,

Descriptive Essay About Myself
I find it extremely tough to talk about myself and my personal traits. In order for me to dIscuss
who I am in an accurate manner then I must provide some basic background information on
myself and talk about the Environment I grew up in. This way people can get a better
understanding of why I am the way I am. My Background is so essential In making me myself
because If I had been born under any different circumstances or grew up any differently I would be
a different person than I am today. I was born inAberdeen Scotland but raised in Fort Bend County

grown up in a family that speaks only english so I find it interesting to go over to other people's
houses and hear them communicating in another language. On top of all of this meeting different
people has also opened my mind to new ideas. For example, in school when we work in group
projects we collaborate and communicate with people who think differently than us then work
together to figure out whose ideas will work the best and how to improve them.
Another factor that plays a part in why I am shaped how I am is my family's economic
circumstances. I have always had access to anything I needed and for that I have extreme
gratitude because I know some people have a lot of difficulty in life. Since I was born into a
family with such good economic circumstances I have been lucky to have lots of opportunities.
One Opportunity I had as a child was participating in taekwondo. I did taekwondo until I reached a
blackbelt which took years of hardwork and dedication. I had to memorize forms, Spar with other
competitors and break boards in order to continue to move up to the next level. Taekwondo also
helped keep me in good shape and fit when I was younger. Another Opportunity I am grateful for is
the skill of playing the piano. At first I was not all that enthusiastic about playing it but my parents
has signed me up and insisted I

Ocean Descriptive Essay
I stand at the edge where two worlds collide. The oceans exude power and confindence yet its are
the connector to everyone. Here at the ocean, your peace can be found in the middle of this chaotic
world. This is where people can lose themselves in the beauty, tranquility and the uncontrollable
power of the ocean.
I stand on the edge looking forward the ocean seems endless. Some people believe at the horizon
there is nothing just a place where the moon, star and the sun hide until they shall return.
Scrunching my toes into the damp sand from the high tide. The sand is like rough sandpaper on
my bare feet. Whispers of the warm sea breeze as it skips over the lulling waves. The breeze
carries the salty aroma that swirls in my nose leaving a feeling of tranquility and safety. Listening
to the thundering raspy echo's of the waves as they churn crumbling into whitewash chaos
deafening my ears to whatever else is around me. The squawking of the protectors of the ocean as
they circle above, master of catching the upward sea breeze drafts. Watching the waves draw in a
breath of air and sighing deeply gradually crawling along each grain of sand stretching itself out thin
to reach my feet. The ocean breathes in again as the thin layer of water returns into the depths of the
unknown.
The sun slowly simmers down into the horizon. The ocean reflecting a amber orange painting on its
mesmerizing turquoise canvas. The warmth of the air is replaced by chills. The light salt–water laps

Descriptive Essay About My Grandmother
My grandmother was a tough lady.
At just over five feet tall, she was the kind of woman that you saw on the street and knew to move
out of her way. Her demeanor was strict, her hands tied with thick blue veins, crissВcrossing over
her thin, frail fingers.
I remember holding her hands as a child, how delicate and soft they seemed and yet that never
made them seem any less worn or sturdy. Her hands told stories of different times, of different
worlds and hardships. She had grown up worlds away from me, in a different land, at a different
time, in an era and a life that I would never know.
My grandmother had stories.
But, she never told stories. Her stories were in the way she ate – she savored her food, cherished it.
Often she would be...show more content...
She was seldom outwardly affectionate. She didn't need to be. When I wrapped my arms around
her small frame, afraid I would break her, she responded with a strength disproportionate to her size.
She held tightly, like she was holding on for dear life, and then she let go, she smiled and she
moved on.
My grandmother was an intelligent woman.
She had little schooling, but she had run businesses. She had managed on her own, with a husband
and sons, in a country that didn't care for her or her culture, but only for their aggrandized version
of it. Her experiences were rightful cause to be jaded and hard, and yet she saw brightness and she
saw brightness in me. She saw the great things in life, she loved hard and appreciated the little things
– us going for a walk together or just sitting in the sun on a warm day.
My grandmother's stories were in her complaints.
My grandmother complained about petty things: things that I would complain about. But she never
complained about life and she never complained about pain.
My grandmother had developed a brain tumor, which when removed, removed much of her
immediate memory. For a long time, she didn't remember my name. She had no idea who I was. But
she tried and she learned.
She understood perseverance and the importance of people and she carried on against all odds. The
last time I spoke to her, she knew exactly who I was, despite

Descriptive Essay About My Favorite Place
As a child, people will always remember certain destinations that stick with them that made a
good impression. I have a place that not only made a good impression, it changed me. It made me
think off all the things in life people take for granted; places, people, activates. This place brought
all though special things in life to one place where I can enjoy them all at the same time. The
Oregon coast. Traveling there, as a kid was always special. Waking up early in the morning and
driving the long trip there, going through forests, valleys, and cities. The Oregon coast is such a
broad place to describe, but in reality, all the towns have the same feel but different atmosphere.

until it reaches a tall cliff with waves crashing against it. The sun shines down on the moisture in

formations stick out of the water, creating a question on how they formed there. Sea creatures dot
the sand everywhere. Walking the beach with sand between your toes is and not a worry in your mind
is one of the best feelings. If you time it right early in the mornings and late in the night low tide
takes place and you can find sand dollars and unique shells. Beautiful houses and hotels line the
beach all with the same withered look they all strive to have, and balconies on every place to
capture the view. This destination is such an important place to Oregonians because its such a
magical place. It transports you into a different dimension where there are no other places like it.
You cannot be one the beach without a smile on your face, it's near impossible to be in a gloomy
mood when there. Mainly magical because you can escape there with family and friends with many
opportunities to try to experience new or traditional things. Like having a fire on a beach roasting
s'mores with family and friends, or trying weird sea creature at a restaurant. The Oregon Coast will
always hold a spot near to my heart. I can't wait for

Disney World
Throughout the world there are so many beautiful and wonderful places to go and spend time to
explore and to relax. From going to a beach, skiing in the mountains, to luxury resorts, all and
many more would make for a great vacation. Every person may think differently and has different
expectations than others of what the best vacation destination would be. However, there is one
destination that so many has thought very highly of. This vacation spot for many is Disney
World. Disney World has been known for many years now to be a wonderful place to go young or
old to have an exciting time. Capturing so many of the scenes and characters from recent and old
Disney movies as well as adding in the thrilling rides and glamorous restaurants in castles, Disney
World has truly brought many unforgettable memories to life. Because of the unbelievable moments
there is a reason it is called one of the happiest places on earth.
In 1964, Walt Disney began to secretly buy millions of dollar's worth of central Florida (History).
Also known as "D" Day for Orlando, Walt announced that he planned to build a spectacular theme
park. Micky Mouse was one of the characters that got to escort some of the first visitors into the
magic Kingdom. Numerous people including celebrities took part in the celebrations (History).
Disney World has the incredible ability to turn every vacation into a once in a life time
experience (Don). The attention in detail that Walt put into the park makes it seem almost
magical to many. An example of the details of Disney World would be their rides. Many parks
rides can feature a ton of steel, pipes, and fences (Albert). Disney makes their rides have a good
theme along the way and one can hardly see any sight of backstage stairs up the roller coaster or
fences around the ride (Albert). Everywhere someone would look not only on the rides there will be
pleasing to the eye, funny or fits in with the theme of the land (Albert).
Still, one can never forget the work it takes everyday to keep Disney World up and going. The Cast
Members treat every guest equally and fairly like they are honored visitors. They are always helpful

On a very warm, patriotic day. The sun on a sandy beach beats down on the hot sand, the cold
blue waves crash the shores of Alpena Michigan. A very energetic, outgoing girl runs across the
hot, sandy, dry beach. On the warm humid morning at 8:30 in the morning I begin to build a
sandcastle on the hot sandy beach while cherokee is in the cold crystal blue water. After that we

Descriptive Essay Of A Restaurant
Once I stepped inside the restaurant I automatically could hear the music playing at a moderate
level and the laughter of the customers. Right off the back the restaurant's ambiance had a positive
vibe. Mindful, it was a Saturday late afternoon. Mary Jane Burger and Brew is a local restaurant
trying to stay true to its past. The granddaughter of the original owner now runs the place with the
intention of serving good quality food where the ingredients are fresh, mouth watering, and surely
not filled with antibiotics and all that other genetically modified elements found in processed foods.
The vintage, rustic looking place, holds a small town atmosphere with a big taste.
The host sat my sister and I at a table in the middle of the dining area. A giant window let sunlight
flood into the room and the speakers provided a good backdrop of music to help engage
conversation. The restaurant itself seems fairly modern: leather seating, dark wood tables, and
mason jar for glasses. It is the epitome of a hang out spot for any teen, millennial, or elder
meetup. The staff caters to the needs of the customers and are always ready to help out in any
way possible. I started the meal off with a glass of sweet tea that never made it lower then the
halfway point. The waitress was always there with a pitcher of their home brewed sweet tea. The
tea itself was not too sweet, it had the subtle taste of the bitterness that tea should have. In other
words it did not taste like someone dumped a bag

Storm Descriptive Essay
Calm After the Storm
Life washes over those who expect it the least. It seeps into the expanse of space and time and steals
the innocence from the young. When I was seven I was playing with time, innocent and vulnerable.
Then life came crashing in and destroyed everything. With water–soaked clothes and tear–streaked
cheeks, I returned home with the knowledge that life has no mercy. Life is not fair. Only the salty
sting of reality to my beaten ego was my companion.
Magnificent, heavenly light filters through the wispy clouds, signifying a new day. The thin clouds
slowly drift apart, presenting a beautiful sky beneath. Speaking out to me, the sky seems to know
every one of my thoughts, my dreams, my darkest fears. The sky is but a canvas of light, creating
a new picture within seconds. Weaving a story through the delicate clouds, the picture grows
beyond the expanse of sky. The colors splay before me, beautiful and simple. Pink hues morph into
vibrant purples as they blend with the beautiful blues. The glittering stretch of sea shines before my
eyes. With every new wave, the light from above whispers promises of riches and sparkling
diamonds. The swift breeze that kisses the sea sends the twinkling light back into the air above.
The ocean strokes land with calm and reassuring hands, lacing water with sand and lifting
seashells in its wake. My heart urges me forward, to walk among the peace, to capture the sweet
smell of sea salt. My brain reasons with the rest of my body. Turning sharply from the lulling water,
I force my feet to leave the warm imprint they have grown to love among the sand. One foot after
the other, I force myself away from the calm and into the storm.
Just ahead, the shingles of my little house come into view. The roof is worn from years of wind
and rain, and the paint is now chipping and old. Harboring memories my brain cannot contain, that
house signifies my love for life. It signifies the love for my family, and the laughter they bring. That
house is my beacon of hope in the stormy weather that is my life. My pace quickens as the air
pushes past me, shoving me aside. Once forgotten waves, now lap at my feet. They call out to me,
their pleas for attention becoming urgent. I turn

shame that I think this way. It's a shame because I love my mother, and my father ruins that for me.
In a perfect world I would go home to just my mother, and wouldn 't have to worry about the hatred
that my father endures towards my family, and for no reason at that.
With all these thoughts rushing through my head, I finally realize that I have been daydreaming so
long that I am no longer walking, but I am at a halt in front of the main entrance of my high school.
I say to myself aloud, "If I go in that means I am roughly eight hours from being back at home."
Instead of entering the school I immediately turn around to walk back to my house. Nobody is
there during the day so that means I can actually enjoy being home without the worry of anyone

want to do with my life, the kind of future I want to achieve. My room is the place where I can go
and do my homework without getting distracted, where I can write down my feelings and open
my mind to new ideas. Many times I have gone to my room and just write about things that are
going around in the world that will affect me sooner or later, like global warming. I will think about
everything I have heard, and my room makes me feel comfortable like there is nothing that can stop
me from making a comment and saying what is on my mind.

Descriptive And Prescriptive Grammar
Introduction In this essay I will discuss the definition of the concept grammar in linguistic science
and thee attitude teachers may have towards such a conceptualization of what grammar is. I will
go into detail by explaining perspective and descriptive grammar. Descriptive Grammar The first
thing that I will be discussing is the definition of descriptive grammar. A descriptive grammar is a
set of rules about language based on how it is actually used. It can relate with a prescriptive
grammar, which is a set of rules based on how people think language should be used. Specialists in
descriptive grammar (linguists) examine the principles and patterns that underlie the use of words,
phrases, clauses, and sentences. In contrast, prescriptive...show more content...
Examples of prescriptive grammar rules can be found in practically every guide to "good"
language usage, grammar rule book, or grammar guide. Teacher's attitude towards grammar
Grammar has always been an important issue in second and foreign language learning and
teaching. Some hold the view that grammar is not essential for second/foreign language learning
and therefore have a 'zero position' regarding grammar teaching. On the other hand, some view
that grammar is necessary for second/foreign language learning. There is often confusion between
what is prescriptively correct under the rules of standard English grammar within different
varieties, which results in various options for classroom grammar teaching for second language
learners. In the classroom relating to descriptive grammar learners can be encouraged to move
away from a prescriptive approach to grammar by using a guided discovery in which they look for
examples of variations in use in authentic texts. These examples can be compared to prescriptive
rules in order to decide if they are useful or

Descriptive Essay On A Gym
In today's busy world, it can be hard to find the time to even think about one's fitness, let alone
actually do anything to maintain it. The average person has school, work, family, pets, and many
more distractions in their life to ensure their fitness is left on the backburner. However, when the
thought of exercise does eventually enter their mind, the thought that often comes forefront is
that of the gym. The concept of a gym is simple, populate a building with the necessary equipment
for a variety of physical activities, attracting people who want to get that perfect body or even just
get back in shape. However, many people who have never frequented a gym often come up with a
plethora of reasons not to go. One such example of a gym is Lifetime Fitness in Collierville
Tennessee. driving past it, one would hardly even guess it was a gym. Lifetime is a towering
building with large glass windows framing nearly the entire exterior, almost resembling an office
building the likes of which one would expect to see in a place like New York or Los Angeles.
Stepping into the parking lot, signs of activity are already evident; children's laughter, the splashing
of water and the whistle of the lifeguard can be heard in the distance from the large outdoor pool
that extends from the left side of the building. Stepping into the building's entryway is almost like
stepping into a fish tank, with nothing separating the interior from the outside except glass doors
and windows on all sides.

Descriptive Essay On A Trip
The art studies–at–large trip has been a once in a lifetime trip. From a twenty–four hour plane trip
with a stop in Chicago and time zone change, it has been an exhausting yet enjoyable time running
around with my classmates in the airport. Being in a different country and experiencing a new
culture first hand was astonishing and gave me a new outlook of the beauties in the world. From
Montone, Florence, Venice, andRome I had the ultimate trip in Italy. The food, language, and
culture were different from what I was used to but it was worth the experience. I was not fond of
drinking wine with every dinner though the wine was delicious. I had the best pastas, tiramisus,
and coffees while I was in Italy. The art was beautiful; it was breathtaking to see how many free
artworks was there for the public. After being in Italy for about a month I can see why people are
attracted and want to live in Italy. Montone is a beautiful, peaceful, and friendly town. I enjoyed
the walk to town, the covenant, Aries CafГ©, the tavern restaurant, and the town's people. I had
the best cappuccino and coffee at Aries and I loved every dish I ate at the tavern restaurant. The
view from the covenant was beautiful and works perfectly for a painting. Getting around town was
easy with everyone being so nice and helpful. The piazza was a great place to hang out because of
friendly the environment was and it was the main spot in town where everyone stayed. Getting a
chance to draw Italy's million

My Dream Boat Ride

  • 1. Descriptive Essay : My Dream In my dream, I am in a small boat in rough waters. It is a dark night, with a full moon, dark clouds filling the horizon. I am sitting in a small wooden boat in the ocean or large lake. I cannot see land in any direction. The waters are rough, with large waves rocking the boat. The waves are so rough they are causing water is spray into my face. I am afraid that the boat will tip over and I will drown. I hold on to the sides with both hands. Suddenly up ahead I can see large rocks in the water, large waves crashing against the dark gray slick sides. My boat is going to hit them. Suddenly I am traveling between the rocks standing stark and cold on both sides. My small boat travels between several of them and into a rushing river. I am full of dread, I will certainly sink and drown. I travel down the rushing river. There are high, dark cliffs on both sides. In the distance I can see the cliffs ending and the river disappearing out of my sight. As I travel closer and closer I can hear the sounds of a waterfall. I travel down the river, between the cliffs and over a large waterfall. I fall from a great height, walking up in my bed, still filling as though I will drown. Working With The Dream A small boat in rough water feels like I am out of control. Control is an allusion. It is dark and I do not know where I am or where I am going. I am in a small boat alone like life that is sometimes solitary and must be traveled alone. Life can sometimes feel rough Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Descriptive Essay On An Island The first thing that hit me was the sound. The sounds of birds, the sound of the sea crawling onto the sand. I felt million grains of sand underneath my feet and the cool breeze against my face. Moreover, the tantalizing scent of the washed–up waves, coconut, and pineapple are all mixed into one. As I opened my eyes, I was amazed by how easily fantasy and reality intertwined at that moment. It was like continuing a dream after waking up. So I dragged myself up and turn my head to the east. While the sky in the opposite direction was still dark, the dawn on the east side already broke. A mixture of yellow and orange on the horizon beneath a dark neon blue ocean of night had begun to peek out. As the sun continuously rose, all of the purple and deep blue faded away, and the sun took its mighty position at the top of the sky, shining so very blindingly beautiful. After I watched the sunrise, my mood lifted. Notwithstanding, I still feel threatened for I got trapped on an island. I stood there for a moment and tried to figure out how I got to this island. A series of quick flashback of a shipwreck, and a big storm. Consequently, I have a severe headache, so I decided to sit down in the sand. While sitting down, I observe the island and find that I was surrounded by water and some other islands. The water around the island was as clear as crystal, to the point I can see the depths of the sea. Again, I dragged myself up and turn to the back; it seemed like a tropical paradise. There were multitudes of greenery, lush foliage that looked like they were painted on. I walk deeper into the island. Nowhere, the sound of the birds started to raise up. It brought freedom and happiness to the mind. Beautiful flowers in reds, yellows, purples, and pinks lounged happily along the banks of small streams. Following the streams, it allowed me to hear the playful sound of the water lapping on the rocks, and the sound of leaves rustling when the wind blew gently, bringing with it a feeling of peace and tranquility. Continuing through the trees, my stomach started growling like a monster who is ready to eat its prey. Accordingly, the smell of fruits suddenly arises on my left side so I made my way toward the fruity smell, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

For example, in school when we work in group projects we collaborate and communicate with people who think differently than us then work together to figure out whose ideas will work the best and how to improve them. Another factor that plays a part in why I am shaped how I am is my family's economic circumstances. I have always had access to anything I needed and for that I have extreme gratitude because I know some people have a lot of difficulty in life. Since I was born into a family with such good economic circumstances I have been lucky to have lots of opportunities. One Opportunity I had as a child was participating in taekwondo. I did taekwondo until I reached a blackbelt which took years of hardwork and dedication. I had to memorize forms, Spar with other competitors and break boards in order to continue to move up to the next level. Taekwondo also helped keep me in good shape and fit when I was younger. Her demeanor was strict, her hands tied with thick blue veins, crissВcrossing over her thin, frail fingers. I remember holding her hands as a child, how delicate and soft they seemed and yet that never made them seem any less worn or sturdy. Her hands told stories of different times, of different worlds and hardships. She had grown up worlds away from me, in a different land, at a different time, in an era and a life that I would never know. My grandmother had stories. But, she never told stories. She had little schooling, but she had run businesses. She had managed on her own, with a husband and sons, in a country that didn't care for her or her culture, but only for their aggrandized version of it. Her experiences were rightful cause to be jaded and hard, and yet she saw brightness and she saw brightness in me. But she never complained about life and she never complained about pain. My grandmother had developed a brain tumor, which when removed, removed much of her immediate memory. • 9. Descriptive Essay On Disney World Ashlyn Watkins Professor Shafer English Comp I 1113 21 July 2017 Disney World Throughout the world there are so many beautiful and wonderful places to go and spend time to explore and to relax. From going to a beach, skiing in the mountains, to luxury resorts, all and many more would make for a great vacation. Every person may think differently and has different expectations than others of what the best vacation destination would be. However, there is one destination that so many has thought very highly of. This vacation spot for many is Disney World. Disney World has been known for many years now to be a wonderful place to go young or old to have an exciting time. Capturing so many of the scenes and characters from recent and old Disney movies as well as adding in the thrilling rides and glamorous restaurants in castles, Disney World has truly brought many unforgettable memories to life. Because of the unbelievable moments there is a reason it is called one of the happiest places on earth. In 1964, Walt Disney began to secretly buy millions of dollar's worth of central Florida (History). Also known as "D" Day for Orlando, Walt announced that he planned to build a spectacular theme park. Micky Mouse was one of the characters that got to escort some of the first visitors into the magic Kingdom. Numerous people including celebrities took part in the celebrations (History). Disney World has the incredible ability to turn every vacation into a once in a life time experience (Don). The attention in detail that Walt put into the park makes it seem almost magical to many. An example of the details of Disney World would be their rides. Many parks rides can feature a ton of steel, pipes, and fences (Albert). Disney makes their rides have a good theme along the way and one can hardly see any sight of backstage stairs up the roller coaster or fences around the ride (Albert). Everywhere someone would look not only on the rides there will be pleasing to the eye, funny or fits in with the theme of the land (Albert). Still, one can never forget the work it takes everyday to keep Disney World up and going. The Cast Members treat every guest equally and fairly like they are honored visitors. The granddaughter of the original owner now runs the place with the intention of serving good quality food where the ingredients are fresh, mouth watering, and surely not filled with antibiotics and all that other genetically modified elements found in processed foods. The vintage, rustic looking place, holds a small town atmosphere with a big taste. The host sat my sister and I at a table in the middle of the dining area. A giant window let sunlight flood into the room and the speakers provided a good backdrop of music to help engage conversation. The restaurant itself seems fairly modern: leather seating, dark wood tables, and mason jar for glasses. It is the epitome of a hang out spot for any teen, millennial, or elder meetup. The staff caters to the needs of the customers and are always ready to help out in any way possible. I started the meal off with a glass of sweet tea that never made it lower then the halfway point. The waitress was always there with a pitcher of their home brewed sweet tea. The tea itself was not too sweet, it had the subtle taste of the bitterness that tea should have. In other words it did not taste like someone dumped a bag Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Storm Descriptive Essay Calm After the Storm Life washes over those who expect it the least. It seeps into the expanse of space and time and steals the innocence from the young. When I was seven I was playing with time, innocent and vulnerable. Then life came crashing in and destroyed everything. With water–soaked clothes and tear–streaked cheeks, I returned home with the knowledge that life has no mercy. Life is not fair. Only the salty sting of reality to my beaten ego was my companion. Magnificent, heavenly light filters through the wispy clouds, signifying a new day. The thin clouds slowly drift apart, presenting a beautiful sky beneath. Speaking out to me, the sky seems to know every one of my thoughts, my dreams, my darkest fears. The sky is but a canvas of light, creating a new picture within seconds. Weaving a story through the delicate clouds, the picture grows beyond the expanse of sky. The colors splay before me, beautiful and simple. Pink hues morph into vibrant purples as they blend with the beautiful blues. The glittering stretch of sea shines before my eyes. With every new wave, the light from above whispers promises of riches and sparkling diamonds. The swift breeze that kisses the sea sends the twinkling light back into the air above. The ocean strokes land with calm and reassuring hands, lacing water with sand and lifting seashells in its wake. My heart urges me forward, to walk among the peace, to capture the sweet smell of sea salt. My brain reasons with the rest of my body. Turning sharply from the lulling water, I force my feet to leave the warm imprint they have grown to love among the sand. One foot after the other, I force myself away from the calm and into the storm. Just ahead, the shingles of my little house come into view. The roof is worn from years of wind and rain, and the paint is now chipping and old. Harboring memories my brain cannot contain, that house signifies my love for life. It signifies the love for my family, and the laughter they bring. That house is my beacon of hope in the stormy weather that is my life. My pace quickens as the air pushes past me, shoving me aside. Once forgotten waves, now lap at my feet. They call out to me, their pleas for attention becoming urgent. I turn Get more content on HelpWriting.net

It was candy apple red and the backboard had lights on it just in case I wanted to play in the dark. I thought Santa Claus gave me the coolest gift in the world. Later on in the evening I use to enjoy sitting in our cozy living room while, the fireplace was burning sipping on hot cocca and scoff down ginger bread cookies we made the night before. My family was always exchanging jokes. My brother Tito and my sister Titania love joking around, but my brother was a lot funnier than my sister. He was the jokester in the family. I remember this one particular joke my brother said about my aunt. He said she had a temptation hair style. I was hollering it was so funny because when you looked at her hair it did remind you of the singer group the Temptation. You would of thought she was a member of the group. • 14. Descriptive Essay About My Mother No matter how hard life gets for me and how chaotic things can become there has always been one person that I can turn to, my mom. She's been a wealth of advice to call on when I'm clueless and a shoulder to cry on when I'm down. Her compassion for others inspires me to be a better person as does the guidance she has given me over the years. She's not afraid to give me a reality check and to tell me the things I don't want to hear even though I need to. She keeps me grounded and teaches me to appreciate the smaller things in life. Even though my dad was still involved in my life after my parents split up it was my mother who I primarily lived with and it was her who had the greatest influence on my life growing up. She won't let anybody walk over her and is really quick to anger if you try. My mother is strong–willed and stubborn; when she sets her mind to something almost nothing will stop her and what an impossible feat it is to change her mind on something. She is very impatient; when she wants something done she wants it done at this very moment, no later. She is idealistic and she enjoys the simpler things that life has to offer. She loves nature and would love nothing more than to be living in a cabin in the mountains while listening to country music. She does not pay much attention to news happening outside her local area and prefers to focus on what's happening in her immediate area. From my mother I have learned how to be the person that I am today. Through her I have learned the importance of family and that it is paramount to spend time with them while I still have it. Even now I try to spend time with my family when I have the opportunity to. Form her I have learned compassion for those around me and for animals. Even Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Descriptive Essay About My Morning This morning I woke up, the same as everyday stretching my legs off my bed and onto the floor, my arms raised up grazing the ceiling. As any other day, I got out of bed and waltzed into the kitchen where I could smell the aroma of coffee being freshly brewed. My mother was up, bright and early fixing breakfast for my father who leaves everyday for work promptly at 7:00am. I am not a morning person, but today the smell of that coffee woke me with ease. If this were any other day, I wouldn 't have woken so easily. For some reason this day didn 't really feel like every other day. My mother, and I have a decent relationship. I walk to school alone everyday, and that is okay with me because I enjoy the peace, and quite. As I walk I think about how I can't wait to get to school, but I also think about how when I get to school I know that every minute that passes is a minute closer to me being back at home. It is a shame that I think this way. It's a shame because I love my mother, and my father ruins that for me. In a perfect world I would go home to just my mother, and wouldn 't have to worry about the hatred that my father endures towards my family, and for no reason at that. With all these thoughts rushing through my head, I finally realize that I have been daydreaming so long that I am no longer walking, but I am at a halt in front of the main entrance of my high school. I say to myself aloud, "If I go in that means I am roughly eight hours from being back at home." Instead of entering the school I immediately turn around to walk back to my house. Nobody is there during the day so that means I can actually enjoy being home without the worry of anyone belittling myself or my mother. My walking now turns into a light jog, as for once I am excited about the idea of being home. Finally I am approaching the driveway to my house where I see a strange car parked in front of the garage door. The car appeared to be an old van painted in a dark matte greenish color. The wheels looked worn as if they have maybe been changed once in the cars lifetime, and the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I will always remember and cherish time spent in my grandmothers garden. It's those memories that prompted me to create my own garden when I turned sixteen. I had asked my parents to help me plant a garden at our house every summer for as long as I can remember but their answer had always been no. • 19. Descriptive And Prescriptive Grammar Introduction In this essay I will discuss the definition of the concept grammar in linguistic science and thee attitude teachers may have towards such a conceptualization of what grammar is. I will go into detail by explaining perspective and descriptive grammar. Descriptive Grammar The first thing that I will be discussing is the definition of descriptive grammar. A descriptive grammar is a set of rules about language based on how it is actually used. It can relate with a prescriptive grammar, which is a set of rules based on how people think language should be used. Specialists in descriptive grammar (linguists) examine the principles and patterns that underlie the use of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences. In contrast, prescriptive...show more content... Examples of prescriptive grammar rules can be found in practically every guide to "good" language usage, grammar rule book, or grammar guide. Teacher's attitude towards grammar Grammar has always been an important issue in second and foreign language learning and teaching. Some hold the view that grammar is not essential for second/foreign language learning and therefore have a 'zero position' regarding grammar teaching. On the other hand, some view that grammar is necessary for second/foreign language learning. There is often confusion between what is prescriptively correct under the rules of standard English grammar within different varieties, which results in various options for classroom grammar teaching for second language learners. In the classroom relating to descriptive grammar learners can be encouraged to move away from a prescriptive approach to grammar by using a guided discovery in which they look for examples of variations in use in authentic texts. These examples can be compared to prescriptive rules in order to decide if they are useful or Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Descriptive Essay On A Gym In today's busy world, it can be hard to find the time to even think about one's fitness, let alone actually do anything to maintain it. The average person has school, work, family, pets, and many more distractions in their life to ensure their fitness is left on the backburner. However, when the thought of exercise does eventually enter their mind, the thought that often comes forefront is that of the gym. The concept of a gym is simple, populate a building with the necessary equipment for a variety of physical activities, attracting people who want to get that perfect body or even just get back in shape. However, many people who have never frequented a gym often come up with a plethora of reasons not to go. One such example of a gym is Lifetime Fitness in Collierville Tennessee. driving past it, one would hardly even guess it was a gym. Lifetime is a towering building with large glass windows framing nearly the entire exterior, almost resembling an office building the likes of which one would expect to see in a place like New York or Los Angeles. Stepping into the parking lot, signs of activity are already evident; children's laughter, the splashing of water and the whistle of the lifeguard can be heard in the distance from the large outdoor pool that extends from the left side of the building. Stepping into the building's entryway is almost like stepping into a fish tank, with nothing separating the interior from the outside except glass doors and windows on all sides. • 21. Descriptive Essay On A Trip The art studies–at–large trip has been a once in a lifetime trip. From a twenty–four hour plane trip with a stop in Chicago and time zone change, it has been an exhausting yet enjoyable time running around with my classmates in the airport. Being in a different country and experiencing a new culture first hand was astonishing and gave me a new outlook of the beauties in the world. From Montone, Florence, Venice, andRome I had the ultimate trip in Italy. The food, language, and culture were different from what I was used to but it was worth the experience. I was not fond of drinking wine with every dinner though the wine was delicious. I had the best pastas, tiramisus, and coffees while I was in Italy. The art was beautiful; it was breathtaking to see how many free artworks was there for the public. After being in Italy for about a month I can see why people are attracted and want to live in Italy. Montone is a beautiful, peaceful, and friendly town. I enjoyed the walk to town, the covenant, Aries CafГ©, the tavern restaurant, and the town's people. I had the best cappuccino and coffee at Aries and I loved every dish I ate at the tavern restaurant. The view from the covenant was beautiful and works perfectly for a painting. Getting around town was easy with everyone being so nice and helpful. The piazza was a great place to hang out because of friendly the environment was and it was the main spot in town where everyone stayed.
