“A Philosopher’s stone”
Special Vote of Thanks…
If I call this department Philosopher’s stone than it is not exaggeration,
whose touch converts everything into valuable. Journey of these two years is
really very magical. A stone which is very dirty and dusty, have no value and smashed by many,
is given Midas’ touch, polished by Alchemist. And after two years it becomes shining diamond.
List of our learning from department is very long… with words it cannot be measured. All the
students always tell that, it is our second home. But I don’t think so. According to me, after
coming here, it becomes our home and our home becomes secondary.
The department gives us canvas, a blank, vast canvas and the most important – freedom,
freedom to do anything with it. All of us use it differently with our own creativity. Some of us
throw colours and beautify it. Some will beautify with words and play with meanings. Some will
show sincerity with scoring more marks and project on it.
With that Canvas one can see his/her own mirror image and what they are doing is expressing
themselves, understanding themselves in a batter way. Which is the most significant objective of
teaching and learning as many educationalist said. And the department successfully fulfils it.
Memorabilia is a collage of that creativity, where every piece of art is necessary. It is incomplete
even without one. It captures all the good memories which mind perhaps forgotten.
I am feeling lucky to have chance of preparing it.I am very thankful to all the students for
preparing this beautiful piece of art. I want to thank all my friendsand classmateswho inspired
me and helped me in this collaborative work, especially, Rasila Jambucha, Ridhhi Jani, Binita
Solanki, Drashti Dave, Saryu Baraiya and all members of Documentation committee.
And at the end, we are very thankful to Dr. Dilip Baradsir, Heenamadam and this department
for providing us that canvas and such a learning environment.

From the Desk of the Head of the Department . . .
The withering signifies an end of things. The
end suggests new beginning. Nothing ends in
itself without evocating the trace of new
beginning. Now, as the batch 2013-15 is passing
out, we look forward to see them marching ahead in
their lives with renewed power, vitality and energy.
As we have seen in past for some years, the number
of girls in the department are outnumbering boys.
What was so curious to observe was that they did not
outnumbered boys only in arithmetic numbers, but
also in classroom discussion, interaction and in debating views and counterviews. It obviously proves
that given an opportunity, the female of the species would outsmart their male counterpart!
Questions! Yes, it is the questions raised by students, which make teachers happier than happy. This
year, in both classes, there were several such happy moments. Especially, the participation of
Riddhi Jani, Poojaba Jadeja and Lajja Bhatt was noteworthy. Yes, we missed Amrutha
Reddy, who surely would have raised the level of interaction in the subsequent semesters, had she
not left during second semester.
Overall, the participation of students was encouraging. They were always on their toes, rushing to
complete several offline and online tasks, apart from managing several other affairs of Department.
With all the burden of routine work, they actively participated in co-curricular activities. The
students in the year 2014-15 represented in 39 events! We are proud to see that Saryu Baraiya
and Kaushal Desai represented department in 11 events, each.
We run Online Discussion Forum, to engage students with learning and to connect classroom with
‘real life’ situations. During the year 2014-15, twenty-four discussion threads well opened for email
discussion. We are glad to see 402 emails being exchanged with total of 75,355 (seventy five
thousands three hundred and fifty five) words used by students. Drashtri Mehta remained most
active student on this forum with 5,882 words written in various email discussions!
Apart from the academic activities, if there is anything that recurs in my memory, at this moment, it
is Gardening and Library Committee. Under able guidance and leadership of Sejal Vaghela and
Saryu Bariaya, both committees did extraordinary work. Sejal Vaghela was, always, found
forward thinking and planned all days of gardening quite meticulously.
I remember in no particular order the shining examples like that of Pratiksha Solanki (
in displaying situational leadership in managing Picnic), Namrata Gohil (in quest of
difficult topics for presentation and assignment), Vinod Rabhadia (commitment to
participate in Cross Country at Botad), Kaushal Desai, Shubhda Parmar and Lajja Bhatt
(reading and publication of research papers), Hitesh Parmar (for his passion for
General Knowledge), Arati Maheta (for her punctuality) and many other students
whom I miss to mention here, which does not mean they have not contributed. There
were many other talented students in the class but, may be, because of other

priorities, they were not able to give their 100% to the Department. It is our loss and
failure to see that we could not get 100 % engagement form 100% students.
I would like to give special congratulations for the perseverance of Shabana Khalani for her
persistence efforts to continue with study in spite of her marriage, becoming a mother of a child and
failing in exams. It requires out-of-the-world courage and bounce-back ability to do what she has
done!
It would be nothing less than ingratitude if i do not thank all those students (Kinjal Patel, Urvi Bhatt,
Shital Italia, Drashti Mehta and Kaushal Desai) who spent their valuable time for Murals. A special
thanks to Sejal Vaghela for an innovative idea to draw colourful mural near the entry of the
Department.
This memorabilia is the hard work of Poojaba Jadeja. Without her painstakingly collecting content
form all students, minute editing and creative organization, this Memorabilia would not have seen
the light of the day. I am thank full to all other students who helped in this Memorabilia (they are
acknowledged in her note so i am not repeating names), specially for the creativity in designing front
page.
Shubhda Parmar, the G.S., should be commended for her able leadership qualities. She managed
all the affairs and activities efficiently. She led from the front and kept the class together.
Being a believer in the Darwinian theory of evolution, I firmly rely on the
fact that every new generation is smarter than the previous. Similarly, this
batch was better than the previous batches. We hope to see new batch of
students outsmart this batch . . . but till then we will relish the memory of
live interaction and healthy discussion . . . and will miss the hungry haste and
tireless striving to learn . . . which we have seen in your eyes!

pleasure to wish you all exceptional academic career. We wish you best wishes
to lead the word wherever you are, whenever you get an opportunity, in what

The Genesis
Bhavnagar is traditionally known for its cultural heritage in the western India with its last princely
ruler Shri Krishnakumarsinhji who was the first to donate his princely state to the Nation. Mahatma
Gandhi, the father of the nation received his initial college education in Samaldas College during
1888, which is today run by Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University. Bhavnagar District
is situated between 21.18-22.18 Longitude and 71.51-72.18 Latitude. The district encompasses a total
area of 12,048 sq. km. The University was established way back in 1978 by the state of Gujarat and
the total area of the campus is 269 acres, spread over 3 location. The University is providing high
quality of Teaching and Research Programmes in faculties as diverse as Science, Arts, Commerce,
Engineering, Medicine, Management, Rural Studies and Law. The University has at present 20 Post
Graduate Departments and 4 Recognized Institutes.

• Research Activities Acknowledged by the Government
Considering the importance of research activities being carried out by the University in the most
relevant and high-profile areas such as nanotechnology, Marine Ecology, Intellectual Property Rights
& its Management and Entrepreneurship, Government of India and Gujarat Government have
recognized several Departments as Centers of Excellence and Science and Technology Cells for
improving PG teaching and Research to make Bhavnagar University at par with National
Laboratories/ Institutes. Following Centers of Excellence and Cells are actively engaged in research
and consultancy services.

Centre of Excellence in Nano-technology: It is funded by Gujarat Council of Science &
Technology, Government of Gujarat, Gandhinagar. The Center has developed various application of
nanotechnology by synthesis of mono dispersed nano particles.
State Level Nanotechnology Research Centre: The Centre has recently been allocated a grant of
Rs. 5.75 crores by the Industries Department of Government of Gujarat as a success story based on
the proven track record of the projects undertaken in the past on Nanotechnology.
Ocean Science and Technology Cell for Western Coast: It in funded by Ministry of Earth
Sciences, Government of India, New Delhi. This Cell has focused mainly in the areas of Biodiversity
of Coastal Ecosystem, Plankton, Ecology and Productivity, Coastal Pollution & its Control, Microbial
Ecology and Socio-Economic aspects of Coastal Ecosystem and its management.
Entrepreneurship Development Cell: It is funded by National Science & Technology
Entrepreneurship Development Board, Government of India, New Delhi as a part of knowledge base
entrepreneurship promotion. This Cell has started entrepreneurship Promotion. This Cell has started
entrepreneurship Promotion among the students and apart from promotion is involved in various
issues concerning the entrepreneurship in Saurashtra Region. Cell is involved in imparting Skill
Development through Science and Technology (STST) Programmes for differently abled students in
the field of computer technology.
University Industry Linkage Cell: To cater to the needs of local entrepreneurs, University has
started U & I Linkage Cell which is actively engaged in providing technical solutions of various
problems of Chemical and Engineering industries in the region
Corporate Services: Department of Chemistry is recognized by Gujarat Pollution Control Board,
Government of Gujarat as Environment Auditor of Class-1 and for Schedule-I & II Industries.
Gandhian Study Centre: Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi Father of the Nation had received early
education at Samaldas College in Bhavnagar. Department of History is therefore involved in research
activities of various aspects of the Gandhian Philosophy, For the purpose, University Grants
Commission, New Delhi, sanctioned a Gandhian Study Centre for further research and to inculcate
and reinforce the Gandhian culture in the region.

This Program runs under C.B.C. System. It carries 100 credits. The
students are offered 16 courses as Core Courses and 10 courses as
Elective Courses from which they are supposed to choose any four

Courses offered under CBCS to other students:
Two courses are offered to the students of all the P.G. Departments of Maharaja
Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University to earn additional credits and to enhance their
Communicative Competence, where as to the students of other Departments (i.e. Gujarati,
Hindi and Sanskrit), all the Core and Elective courses are offered to get an exposure to the
World Literature and Literary Critical Theories.
Research Based Course:
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in English Literature, American Literature, Indian Writing in
English, Post Colonial Studies, Translation Studies, Cultural Studies, Comparative Literature,
ELT and Use of Technology in Teaching English Language and Literature.
Cambridge ESOL SCOPE Course:
This course runs in collaboration with SCOPE (Govt. of Gujarat Initiative) and Cambridge
English for the Speakers of Other Languages. It is short term course of 60 to 90 hours of
learning. The Course runs on Blended Learning mode and resources of Digital Language
Laboratory is utilized for the same.
Achievements:
1. The students have passed Gujarat State Level Eligibility Test for Lectureship.
2. One of the students has been awarded Full Bright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant
Program (FLTA) scholarship.
3. The students are recruited as Teachers, Assistant Prof. and Associate Prof. in various
educational institutes of India.
4. The faculties have contributed to academic research by publishing books and research
articles in national and international publications.
5. The students have passed GPSC and other competitive exams for administration and
academic recruitments.
6. The students have presented research papers in national & international conference and
conducted workshops at various colleges on Language Skills and Communicative

Library:

Library is a part, which is quite silent but then even full of life. Now it is strange that a
part which is silent then how it can be full of life. Library is an area of our Department of
English, MKBU, which gives us an amazing atmosphere to live in it. In previous years students
use to went to University Library for reference books, original texts and other books. But our
sir, Dr. DilipBaradsir always use to think about students’ study and education and so he tries
to provide all our books and we have our seniors’ support to continue this system without any
interruption. So, now we have a Library to enhance our knowledge with reading of books.
“Harry — I think I've just understood something! I've got to go to
the library!” And she sprinted away, up the stairs. “What does
she understand?” said Harry distractedly, still looking around,
trying to tell where the voice had come from. “Loads more than
I do,” said Ron, shaking his head. “But why’s she got to go to the
library?” “Because that’s what Hermione does,” said Ron,
shrugging. “When in doubt, go to the library.”

‘Harry Potter’ is such a fiction work but mostly liked by all the people.
But in that book also author, J. K. Rowling tries to draw our attention towards
importance of books and library in one’s life and we are such blessed students
that we can get such advantages just next door of our class and it was because
our sir’s hard work. He always tries to encourage us for reading reference books
and as well original texts too in our free time. As Mark Twain said:
“Good friends, good books, and a sleepy
conscience: this is the ideal life.”
We are so thankful to Dr. Baradsir for creating such an ideal atmosphere
for students of Department Of English, MKBU. I personally thankful to all my
friends who always helped me for entire year in take care of this responsibility.

Bulletin Board:

Bulletin board is used as a part of a Learning Environment and we can say
that Bulletin Boards Are Powerful Teaching, Community-Building Tools
and of course it is loaded with students’ creativity, their work add personality
and most important volumes and also included Photos and additional resources.
What Do Bulletin Boards Add or how it works in Our Department?
As we can say that Bulletin boards, around you, can help to create atmosphere and build
community, so we're wondering what is the best. Bulletin board might have been teacher-
created, truly engaged students in its creation, inspired all who saw it, shown off the best student
work, and done an exceptional job of teaching a concept.
“Bulletin boards and charts can be used for a lot of reasons, but should always have a purpose,
and of course they give you an opportunity to use your creativity and make your classroom
look nice, too.”
In our Department there is tradition where everyone can share their ideas their creativity. This
collage of creativity is regularly observed by Professor, and Professor also encourages students
to use notice board for different purposes. Professor also puts the articles which are related
with various subjects. Here students are sharing their own experiences about memory of
different activities. We also put student’s achievements and it helps them to develop pride and
to strive for success. In our Department everyday there is something new in our notice board,
and best thing is that everyday students are using bulletin board for expand their creativity and
our professor also writes on bulletin board and it always helps us and increase our interest to
read bulletin board.
So, I want to share my experience that our notice board helps me a lot where it
includes every single thing with appropriation. Never ignore Bulletin boards because it is the
perfect way to display information that internalizes us.
Gardening:

Usually in day to day running life we are forgetting their
importance as well as we are running behind the techno friendly world, in which we have kind
suppressed feelings. William Wordsworth and many other writers have written very good
poems and other work of arts. So we can’t say that there is no meaning of nature. It is not only
part of tradition but also need to preserve entire existence of nature. Nature also teaches us the
co existence peacefully. With this motto of being together and care about the surrounding, we

the students of Department Of English, have celebrated the Gardening day under the guidance
of our Head Dr. Dilip Barad.
The first celebration was held on 2rd of August, 2014. We have bought 10 plants and tell our
newly joined juniors, live like floral plants, to plug the land for it and saw the plant. Here is the

Another celebration was there on 10th
of January, 2015.
Usually our plantation Day falls under the same month of National Holidays. The reason
behind it is that, we can give something to our mother land, and there is nothing better than a
tree, one more thing which grabs the land’s heart and tied ours to the land itself. It is our last
plantation day so we enjoyed a lot and showcase our bonding to the department, the juniors
and gratitude to this land. It is a part of our tradition. Gardening is a thing which is connected
to new life for plants and creating a pleasant atmosphere. Through which we are feeling that we
are in the lap of Nature.

Daily Schedule

True enjoyment comes from activity of the mind and exercise of
the body; the two are ever united.

“Activity of mind” is the most important aspect to grow oneself. To remain only
physically fit is not enough. Our mind also should have a kind of courage, intelligence and
creativity. And this daily schedule gives us the opportunity to develop these all virtues. Yes,
daily schedule is the most interesting activity of all. Actually it is a bunch of many activities. We

start it from prayer. We used to keep almost every prayer like Hindi, Gujarati, Sanskrit and
English prayer. These prayers make our minds calm and then we start joining in many
activities like anchoring, sharing good thoughts, news reading, vocabulary drill, poetry
recitation, opinion building, personal presentation, book report, regional literature, and
humour and we end it with our national song.
Each and every column gives student a precious chance to rise. When a student comes
to speak in front of all other classmate, he/she gain a kind of confidence that is very important.
Daily schedule activity is one kind of self learning which must be done. By participating in these
activities students can have realization about their hidden talent and skill. And they mostly have
that relief that they are speaking in front of only their dear classmates which is a kind of family
for them. Daily schedule helps in developing students’ speaking skill as well as listening skill.
And after the daily schedule sir gives the reviews about the performance of the students which
encourage the students very much. Every day students gain some new knowledge from this
activity.
And all participations of everyday are kept as record by the committee members of
daily schedule. I am so thankful to all committee members esp. Binita Solanki, Urvi Bhatt,
Sejal Chauhan, Rasila Jambucha, Drashti Dave, Poojaba Jadeja and Shital Italiya. On behalf of
all the students, so much thanks to Dilipsir and Heenamadam to make us feel confident and to
encourage us. I wish that may this activity blossom day by day with the great response of all the
students.
Glad to enjoy this activity for two years. Thanks a lot to the whole family of
Department.
Celebrations

Celebrations are playing important part in our life. Birthday is one of the memories in the
whole year. Birthday is a special day for everyone. Now day’s people are wishing to one
another with the help of whatsApp, Facebook and other social media.
In our Department of English, it is tradition and tendency to celebrate birthday .And this
celebration is taken place during the daily schedule. The student, whose birthday, is called
upon the stage. His/her friends offer him/her a card and say few words about the student.
We also celebrate the festivals to bring all the students together and plan out the joyful
memories. This year we had celebrated festivals like: Navratri, Christmas Eve and Kite Flying
Day. These festivals are the part of rich Indian Tradition. It adds the charm of sharing one
nationality and creating the colourful atmosphere in the academic realms.
We also celebrated interesting days like vegetables’ day, candy day etc which creates joyful
environment among students. Guru Purnima and Teacher’s day have significant role in
academy. Celebration of these days becomes moment of proud for students. So, students are
not only active in academic activities but our department is also rich in celebration of traditional
as well as modern festivals.

ICT :

Here I am going to explore something about system of my Department of
English, MKBU. We are motivated by our sir, Dr. Dilip Barad to club technology, language
and literature. Now it is little bit confusing that how a person can learn language and literature
with the help of technology? I have this question’s answer. We use to write BLOGs for our
assignments, we use to prepare PPTs, we are preparing our own websites and all these works
are done with the help of technology and our juniors are also working with this style and it
creates a marvellous atmosphere of literature, language and technology in our Department and
I think this thing makes us different than all other students of Arts.
We are working on this with the help of language lab, which contains enough
Computers. If in any situation we cannot work on computer, we have laptops and palmtops to
work on, and with this year we have new seven laptops in our LAPTOP Bank. Such kind of
thing motivates students in such a way that they are working with all these technological things
and even faults, too on their own. Even I am very glad to see that students of our Department
can fix some miner errors on their own.
We have Wi-Fi connections in our Department and it can work student to work in such
way that they never before. So many of us have smartphones but I think they are of no use
before entering in this Department. But with the help of sir and Wi-Fi we realizes that how to
use our smartphones in healthier and educational way.
We use to work in team and our Department’s atmosphere helps us in it. We working
together, we take care of all these things together and it gives us support and motivation for use
technology for educational purpose.
Picnic:

Picnic..!
Most awaited day for us we students are always waiting for this day not because we want picnic
and it gives break from our study but It was the only day when we spent whole day together,
lots of fun with friends, an excursion at which a meal is eaten outdoors, and very beautiful and
ideally taking place such as a park, beside a lake and all.. Especially I would like to say that our
Department of English (MKBU), not only Department for us but also It is the place where we
feels comfortable and cosy as in one’s own home.
Yes.. It was our time as a Senior so It’s our turn to arrange each and everything in appropriate
way so with the excitement we started every preparation about picnic from the day of
announcement of picnic and of course we were curious and excited for our picnic so when sir

announced about picnic wowwiee..! we all are started discussing as we already there in picnic
place and we just wanted to enjoy as much as possible because for us it was last picnic and our
juniors first picnic it was. Now it was the time to decide picnic place so we asked all the students
to suggesting some good and comfortable places and the discussion of picnic place OMG..! We
can’t explain it in words because during the discussion some wanted to go other place while
other wanted to go other place so it is very confusing but at the end with happy ending we
decided AKSHARDHAM TEMPLE and SCIENCITY as a picnic place.
On the 20th
of Jan, early in the morning around 5:30 we all r gathered at our department where
Baba Travels was waiting for us, though we can say that it was very cold and dark view outside
the department and it gives truly aesthetic pleasure, after taking attendance of all students we
left department and started our exciting and joyful journey. On the way we enjoyed a lot with
supportive nature and every moment of travelling we enjoyed. Of course it is different thing
that many of students are enjoying their sleeping ;) Here in the bus every one enjoying his/her
dances like free birds without caring of any one. Yup there is not too much luggage with us so
we feel free because our breakfast, lunch and dinner was organized by bus so around 7:30 we
finished our breakfast.
Finally we reached to our first destination Akshardham Temple, is a unique cultural complex
that we can say it celebrates the past, addresses the present and blesses the future. As we
reached, it was really necessary to go through the strict, also they were took our cell phones,
cameras, so for us it becomes tragedy. They could protect it by simply posting signs of no
photo and video and having more security guards walk around the temple. We went to the
temple and it is very peaceful place and read the history of temple and of course we could not
control our butterflies after seeing rides. After enjoyed a lot there than we rest our self there
and took our lunch.
After having lunch we moved for our next destination which was Science city. Gujarat Science
City is a bold initiative of the Government of Gujarat to realize this priority. The Government
is creating and which aims to provide a perfect blend of education and entertainment. In
Sciencecity we learn many things relates with science and technology. Our sir Dr. Dilip sir, he
also helps us to understand some of features and fact that relates with it. In Science city we
enjoyed a lot there is many entertainment like IMAX 3D film, Thrill ride, Mission to Mars
Ride, Planetarium, and all. How can we forget to share the experience of Musical Fountain, it
was just awesome because of Light, Sound and Harmony. We can say that it attracts lots of
visitors.
“The musical fountain in the Science City will provide the most beautiful nighttime
entertainment.”
So after seeing Musical Fountain we went for our dinner.
At the End of our day, on way to Bhavnagar we all tired a lot but it was really memorable and
best journey for all. As for we seniors, it was our last picnic from department so we celebrate
each and every moment of our picnic.Thanks to all for making our last picnic memorable.
Very special thanks to our Sir and Ma’am who were always there for us to support and
encourage.

In Department of English, students join different committees. In Documentation committee
we can preserve all sweet memories of Department. Documentation is the huge word to
mention a single task. To maintain the track, to notify every minor thing, analyse and arrange
the information as per the different boxes is the mammoth task. It is like a group work, one has
to go hand in hand to document the yearly activities. Documentation is the work gives
opportunity to roam in the memory lane and rejoicing the happiest and learn from the worse
one. Documentation gives us glance of the footprints we left behind and create a vision before
us about the future. We also present some piece of art from our area of interest; in
memorabilia, students can represent their ideas and thoughts in a form of writing. So here, we
can record the whole two years activity. We, the members of committee are feeling happy to
present the report for activities.
The memorabilia, a journey to the memories, gives us great joy. Some achievements of
students from department, and various activities, are presented here. Here the student can find
opportunity with the perfect bland of Art and research work. Student follow the tradition of
beautifying the department with their art works i.e. with murals creation an artistic grace with
ethnicity and traditional beauty.
The former students are the treasure for the department as they are torch barriers of the new
tradition as well as path shower to their juniors… The Alumni Association is still paying their
gratitude towards the Department by helding lectures of various knowledgeable and intelligent
persons.
In research field, also our Department engraves the footprints by presenting research papers in
National and international level seminars and competitions. The participants from the
Department go through various reference materials as Department has sufficient resources in
book form as well as in eBook form. Through Internet participants digging hard for getting
supportive and ample evidence and quotes to prove their arguments on the topic. The
guidance of faculties and professor let them to the path and help to cultivate the critical and
research oriented minds. Moreover, the certificates they have earned boost up their confidence
and enthusiasm to present such papers.
Thus it’s beautiful opportunity to preserve our memories for longer. We are thankful to
Department.

Art and Religion
"What is ‘Religion’ for you?"
It is believed that art and religion are opposite to each other. But I find both
similar. When I was in college, one of my former teacher spoke one sentence
while teaching us, “either a person follows religion or an art.” It means every
person can follow one of them, not both. I have nothing new to say accept
expanding, describing this idea.
People, who have not eyes of beauty or an art they follow religion. To believe and
follow religion is easier because right from the birth it is taught to us. It is
not needed to say that, religion is way of living. Through the rituals, way of
worshiping, Pooja, Archana, we expresses our different emotions. A person
always needs a stand to live a life; he needs support, when he is in happiness or in
misery. In every situation religion becomes that support for a person. We cannot
imagine the life without this support.
But some people have a vision of beauty, they engaged with art. As art is also way
of living, expression of emotions and it also can be support to person’s every
situation. If a person follows art, there is no need to follow religion. The elements
in art are similar to religious elements. Surrendering, worshiping, expressing our
emotions while engaging with art.
As T. S. Eliot says,
“…A continual surrender of himself as he is at the moment to something which is
more valuable. The progress of an artist is a continual self-sacrifice, a continual
extinction of personality.”
As religious person surrenders and worships God or his devotee, artist also does
the same. Even artist also suffers bodily pain as religious man does ‘Upvas’ while
engaging with creative activity.
These things are similar in both; we can easily find beauty also in both as religion
is also artistic and art is religious. Like in some rituals, we sing song or make
Rangoli etc.

So, religion and art for a man are similar. The question raises then, who made
them opposite? We cannot blame religion because it is only abstract idea but we
can say that majority of human kind following religion. So, it may be corrupted.
It is this corruption that forces others to follow religion. But artists are very free,
aesthetic persons, they believe in freedom not boundaries. And as they follow
art, they can never follow religion. We can find most of artist atheists, not strong
believer of religion.
As others have not artistic eye, for an artist they become anti-art and because of
some follies, religion becomes bounded instead of open and considering art –
artist bad, immoral, impure activity. Because they cannot see that art is part of
life. Thus, it becomes anti-art and art becomes anti-religion as it does not allow to
be bounded, to be forced. Otherwise, never a mankind can separate them as they
are two sides of coin.

This is an anonymous Gujarati poem that I have found it from the collection of Gujarati poems
and its description named- "કિવતાનો આનંદ” (The Pleasure of Poetry). This collection is made
by very well known Gujarati poet- Suresh Dalaal. I was told by my teacher- Dr. Dilip Barad- to
translate this poem into English. So, I have done small try of translating it from Gujarati into
English.

Movie Review
BeyYaar
Director: Abhishek Jain
Setting: Ahmadabad and different locations of
Ahmadabad
Dialogue: Simple, typical Ahmadabadi and
meaningful, clearly understandable.
After grand success of his first debut film ‘Kevi Rite
Jais’ Abhishek Jain make BeyYaar and it also
achieve success.
Characters:
Kevin Dave played a role of Uday, movie begins with him, he is an artist and he is
narrator of the story; who narrates the story of two friends. 1) Chako (Chintan)
and 2) Tino (Tapan)
Story moves around two friends and their desire, their plan and director
mentioned some famous names of actors, directors as well as artists.
For example: ShubhasGhai, Van Gogh, Al Pacino or even famous painter M.F.
Hussein’s painting at tea stall.
Manoj Joshi played a role of Y.B.Gandhi; the art dealer. His character is very
interesting because he uses Chintan’s innocent nature and played with his
emotions. His character is gray shaded; he is very practical man and thinks like a
businessman and he always think about his profit.
Another character is DarshanJariwala who played a role of J.J.Bhatt, he is father
of Chintan. He has tea stall named ‘J.J.Tea Stall’, Typical Indian father who
teaches moral lesson to his son. In the movie he is one of best friend of
M.F.Hussein. He had painting it was gifted by Hussein and painting was sign of
their friendship.
PranavDoshi played a role of Prabodh Gupta who helped to both friends in their
plan. Famous Gujarati columnist Jay Vasavda’s interview with Prabodh Gupta is
also interwoven with it. All characters have ability to make laugh at their own
situation.
Interesting study of woman character:
Hardly two woman characters are there 1) Chintan’s mother and 2)
SamvednaSuwalka played a role of Jigisha. Jigisha is more clever and intelligent
than other character, so her character played a vital role here. At some extent
Jigisha’s character is compared with Sophie Neveu in The Da Vinci Code. Jigisha
is smart girl and have ability to handle messy situation. Or she wonderfully
manage technical problems, with the help of his friend she create fake account

and make plan to defeat Gandhi and tried to get back pride and painting of
Chintan’s father. She is ‘helping hand’ of both friends and she also has ability to
maintain tough time between two friends.
The movie is best example of peace of art: here art plays major role, many
dialogue represent artistic value. We are shown transience nature of art. Because
art is constantly changing.
The movie also focuses on moral standards or
proverbs like; ‘lobhiyahoytyadhutarabhukhena mare’, ‘jevasatheteva’,
‘karotevubhogvo’
Director focus middle class and their situation, setting of the movie prove that
movie is simple tale of middle class man their desire and dignity. That how
dignity is everything for not only middle class man but for all.
In short real essence of the movie is rustic locations, absence
of vulgarity, heropanti, ‘fighting’ etc but then also like to watch it again and
again. We are shown some short of greed. Because of greed Chintan losses his
father’s dignity and because of greed Gandhi does all the wrong things. Story
moves around friendship so it also gave importance of true friend in one’s life
and through Tapan’s character we came to know that what true friendship means.
BeyYaar is package of comic Gujarati movie with moral lesson and movie has
also depth meaning and it has different interpretations or views. BeyYaar is one
of the best movies in Indian Gujarati cinema.

My review on the Movie “Ek Villian”
As I had watched the Movie “Ek Villian”, I
find an Interest to note down and to write down some
points about it. I also first request to my friends, who
want to read this, and had not watched this movie… that
you first watch this …and then you read this…otherwise
you will miss the real charm of this movie. I just want to
preserve this memory by writing…
I observed one thing similar in this time that in many movies after
Ghajini there is a trend that either a hero or heroine dies at the end and there is
not happy ending, for ex. There are some movies Ghajini, Ashiqui, Ranjana,
Rockstar And Ek Villain etc. Perhaps I will not be able to talk with u about this
FACE TO FACE …nowadays no one have time also…so I think to write down
my views here.

I was already a fan of Siddharth and Shraddha , but now I became a
BIG FAN of them. They have done a perfect work, and dialogues are also
written well. Ritesh Deshmukh also plays his role the best. Shraddha also looks
beautiful and soft in the whole movie. And yes the most interesting thing is … I
think four or five songs are there in it but all songs are well and their lyrics are
well written. The whole movie is in Flashback technique.
The movie starts with the scene of diary, Aiesha, the heroine that is
Shraddha, used to right something in it, and also stuck proper photographs of it.
She also wants to fulfill her all wishes. As she have not time to live. And her
wishes are: 1) Want to catch a Butterfly, 2) want to catch a fish under water, 3)
want to become famous for only one day, 3) want to see a dancing peacock in the
first rain. 5) Wants no darkness, 6) And the last wish want to Save someone’s life
by the help of Guru that is Sidddharth.
On the contrary Guru that is the hero, that
is Siddharth. He is an Angry Bird according to Aiesha. And from her very first
meeting with him she Calles him a Villain, she tells him,
“Tumhara look ek Villian kitarah he, or kisiko kidnap
karnekeliyeekVilliankizarurathoti he.”
Guru works for “Sizzer”, a man. Killing people or murdering people was his
work. Sizzer supports Guru from his childhood, as he was an orphan. Guru’s
father was a drunkard; and because of his father, the whole family was killed, at
the starting of the movie Guru kills a boy, and police then arrests him, and
coincidently Shraddha meets him there. She thinks of him as a strong man. And
she requests him to save somebody’s life, Chottu’s life. She wants to save his life
from a mental hospital. And when Guru helps her she gave him some savings
from her “piggy bank”.
“Chottu “is no one else but an Old man, who loves an old woman and
wants to marry her. Aiesha helps all old men and women from an old age home
and she arranges their marriage in church and then according to Hindu religion
also got married. At the same time Guru find Aiesha’s personal diary. Guru
misunderstands her. He thinks of her that only for fame she is doing all things.
And at once in a Crematorium scene he gives her diary back. Aiesha gives
THANKS to him and in reply? … … …He tells her:

“Tumhekyalagta he aisakarne se tum famous ho jaongi? Aise photos lagakar or
mere jese logo kimadadlekar tum apni wishes purikarsaktiho?Apni diary me
sabke photos chipkakar tum prove kyakrnachahti ho? Yahiki tum
achhiho?Dekhoissekehte he Maut, karib se dekho. Tum mautkamazakudarahi
ho?”
Then in reply she reveals her truth that soon in time she is going to die.
That is why she is in hurry to fulfill all her desires as she has not enough time to
live. Then Guru requests her that he wants help her to fulfill her all wishes. In
return she tells him:
“Ab to tum meri wishes mujpartaraskhakarpurikarongena?”… I don’t need your
sympathy; I don’t need your help. “Mein to ekBanjaranhu.”
But later he convinces her. Aiesha had a wonderful habit of telling a joke
in any condition; including worst condition also she remains happy. This was only
her spirit. A joke is also there, she tells to an idol of Lord Ganesha.
“Ek joke sunau?EkbaarekAdmisamundarmein dub rahatha,
usnebachanekeliyeBhagwanjikoprarthana ki… par …bhagwanji nachanelage…
JubAdmi ne dubte hue reason pucha … to bhagwaanji ne kaha, kyon ?Harsaal
mere visrjankewakt tum ese hi nachate ho na?” Ha haha…
She tell s tht “ Bhagwanjibura mat manana, btjosach he
meinwahibatarahihu…” She was a straight talker…
At the time she wants to leave Guru, she was going away with her father,
bt Guru requests her nt to leave him:
“Mujechodkar matt jaoAiesha, MujeAndhere se baharnikalo
,mujetumhariZarurat he, Mera hath pakdoAiesha…” nd after some time they
marries .
There is another talk between them; at a time when they were at the
seashore, Aiesha tells that:
“ Jabmeinissduniya me narahu tab tum bsapniaakheinbandhkarna or
isshawaonkomehsooskarna, tbtumheunme mere hone kaehsaashonga…”
Guru also provides her treatment for a disease and then she was out of
danger. Then at the same time Guru got a job, and at the same moment, Aisha
was pregnant, but she only knows this as she want to tell Guru about the thing but
Rakesh kills her at the same point. She tells only her father about the fact.
Rakesh play a negative role, of a killer who is frustrated man by his own
wife, his friend gave him some ideas. Then a scene comes that after getting
frustrated by his wife, he goes to his friend’s home and his friend slaps his wife for
only few ICECUBES. Manlihood is that to beat a wife according to him. Rakesh
kills other women, who taunt him, and he loves his own wife a lot, then he can’t
say anything at home, so he kills Aiesha.
Although Rakesh is not only having fault, she should not taunt him a lot. I
think it’s the representation of a middle class man and the dialogue is:
“Ye Middleclass he joharrojbichmefissahuarehta he.”

Guru comes to know then, about the murderer, he also does a funeral of
his beloved, as Rakesh kills every woman with a screw driver. Guru finds that
screw driver, and gives it to Rakesh, as once again he is going to kill a lady, and he
forgets it somewhere.
After an Interwall, Guru comes to know that Aiesha was pregnant, Guru then
beats Rakesh, and then gives him some money to get recover, and then he again
beats him He tells him:
“Mein tuje aise asani se nahi marunga, tuje khoonki harboond mein dard ka
ehaas hoga, Tuhar dam, har saans me marenga, Jaise hi tu accha honga mein fir
aunga tuje marne k liye.”
On the other hand police arrests Rakesh’s wife, she gives statement in
fever of Rakesh, and she gives Interview. Guru finds him and kills him.
Some symbols are there like When Rakesh dies, as a car crushed him,
and there was a keychain of Lord Ganesha, as earlier Aiesha predicted that:
“ Ek din Yahi gaddhe me koi girenga”
“Aaj to mere Bhagwaan ko or in bacchoko bachaliya’’.
The movie also ends with Aiesha’s Diary, where there is a peacock’s
feather. This is how her Diary is also in center as a symbol.
I just liked and loved this film a lot. The whole movie is full of feelings
and emotions, and is well performed by all characters.
And at last I am leaving with a question that u please answer me, that as in
Frankenstein there is a question that who is the real Monster , same way here is
also a question that who is a real villain?Is Guru a real ‘Villain’, or Rakesh
or Society?…

India is a well known country all over the world because of its culture and history. In Indian
culture, we include our festivals, dishes, dressing, etc. So, when it comes to dressing there are
two different aspects, i.e. one is culture and another is casual.
People in the villages of India wear different types of dresses in their daily
life. One of the most important aspects of village life in India, dresses, reflects the cultural
variety and richness of the region. The males in the villages usually wear lungi, dhoti, kurta,

etc. On the other hand, the women mostly wear sari. Beside in the urban areas are generally
accepted latest fashion .There are not particular dresses in daily life.
Dr. Jennifer Baumgartner wrote the book on this phenomenon, which she calls
the “psychology of dress.” In “You Are What You Wear: What Your Clothes Reveal About
You,” she explains our clothing choices, but how to overcome key psychological issues in
your everyday life.
Some of the most common aspects of everyday life have a very understated but
important influence on our interaction with one another. Appearance is the most important
factor in our daily life style. In current society a person appearance, dressing and clothing
does matter a lot. Dressing sense is said to be the reflection of a person's personality as well
as it reflects the occasion for which the individual person attends. Depending upon these
people‘s cultures and behavioral of works. This is why dressing can be so important in our
daily life .Your personal appearance can also call a variety of reactions from people who
know you and who around you, they react to your appearance in positive or negative way.

century, a latest problem is child labour. The issue of child labour is closely related
with human. And it is seen that the incidence of child labour is very high and a front line
concern in India. The issue of child labour is a developmental issue and it is worth studying
as we know child labour is a source of income for poor family.
Education is one of the most powerful tools for transforming human lives in society.
In India 40% of children drop out of school before finishing 8th
standarend and at that time the
government has a rule “free and compulsory education for all”.
Some situations take place very fast and some reasons change psychology of
children. Main reasons are maid household, kidnapping, red alert area premature girls’
marriage with old man, prostitution etc. Behind these reasons, parents of the child are earned
money in one or another way.
It is widely believed that poverty plays vital role for many children to work full time
for their families. Generally parents force their children for labour work. And with help of
child they make money with the child labour to fulfill the basic needs like clothing and food.

The White Tiger by Arvind Adiga is appreciated by many Indian readers and it is a very
widely read text. It depicts a true picture of modern India and that is why Arvind Adiga’s
view plays a very vital role in Indian society and he shows the other facet of the Indian
Culture. His literary genius is represented in the form of Darkness, Light, Corruption,
Reality,andAuthenticity of Class. One cannot deny that how Adiga has described the
character of a common man; Balram Halwai, who becomes the central figure from the
periphery with the development of novel. Especially, the concept of Rooster coop has been
discussed marvelously which shows the inner sight of the writer regarding the Indian Society.
Arvind Adiga represents a dark humor of modern life of India through the narration of the
story of Balram Halwai. In other words one can say that it is a compelling, angry, and darkly
humorous novel that provides ups and downs in the life of Balram Halwai. It creates two
different Indias: “an India of Light and an India of Darkness.” It is the India of darkness
which is focused by the novelist articulating the voice of silent majority trying to dismantle
the discrimination between the “Big Bellies and the Small Bellies” and created a society
based on the principles of inequality and injustice. It also talks about Marxist Ideology and
the Indian family, cast system, globalization, and individualism. Through this novel Arvind
Adiga portrays a clear-cut idea of India in his debut novel The White Tiger, which honored
him Man Booker Prize 2008.

Poverty and Child Labour, this issue is a kind of damaging part that we find in growing
nations, so the question is how to remove this situation of Poverty and Child Labour?
Children are the most deprived section of population forced to earn a pittance or to
contribute to family work sacrificing personal development. Poverty coupled with
rapidlygrowing population, ignorance and increasing dependency load are behind the
grimincidence of children employment in the villages and towns of developing
countries.Though it is signatory of various international Conventions and Agreements, there is
growing number of child labour in India. They work under very hazardous conditions.One can
say that this media and TV serials are also showing the realistically concept and attempt to
solve this problem. Given the magnitude and complexity of the problem, this article is an attempt
to formulate integrated approach and various intervention strategies towards eradication of the
problem of child labour. Poverty is become the reason of child laboring. And how the conditional
mind is working this clause will define this all the aspects as well that is given below:

Society and Child Labor
‘Child Labor’ is a current burning issue of society still in 21st
century. But what
refers to a child labor? In very simple words, Child labor refers to the employment of
children in any work that deprives children of their childhood, interferes with their ability to
attend regular school, and that is mentally, physically, socially or morally dangerous and
harmful. Many NGOs work on it in now days. But it is not that much easy to get rid of it. We
cannot hide our self from this major problem. This is not just current question but it was

given us from our forefathers. This topic covers by some writers in there writings also and it
is harsh reality of society. ‘Child Labor’ played an important role in the Industrial
Revolution from its outset, often brought about by economic hardship; Charles Dickens for
example worked at the age of 12 in a blacking factory, with his family in debtor's prison.
Another motive for ‘Child Labor’ is poverty, and it plays vital role. Some where we
can find that if child will not work that he/she is not getting proper food for himself/herself
and as we know, “Food, shelter and clothes” are basic necessary of any human being on this
earth and children should have to work for it so they feel that work is more important for
them than education and that’s why our new generation is working at the age of studying. So
‘Child Labor’ is like a curse on the society.
(2) Trends in Language Teaching and Testing
Trend means a particular direction in which most of the people use to think and what
is common among the society. Now Language Teaching with the help of ICT is in trend
because Technology is a tool through which Language Teaching has become much easier in
the 21st
century. ‘Language Teaching’isnot limited only to Classroom Teaching but the
word itself shows that to acquire knowledge and efficiency of Second Language and
Foreign Language.Globalization has created a large need for people in the workforce who
can communicate in multiple languages.The question is how to teach L2 or Foreign
Language. Here are the key points in the language teaching, which I am going to elaborate
with examples in paper:
• Change in teaching pedagogy
• Change teacher’s knowledge corpus towards language
• Change in Syllabus Design
• E-learning
• Change in Goal of Language Teaching
• Teachers- Enduring learners
But now a days Technology is trend in Language teaching and evaluation.
Technology is a tool to language teaching and testing. Another concept is research, in

Testing and use of Technology in it is just like a current tendency in 21st

time and come out as an effective implement in analysis of language competence.

Critique
In every era there is the literature which artistically and critically determine the socio
cultural, political and psychological scenario of it. Although we cannot critically put any
theory to evaluate it as we are unable to see it with a distance as being part of the era. In

Victoria was dethroned the literature of that time reflecting that. (Please reframe the

Emily Dickinson was a renewed poet like other poets of her time. She has emerged as
powerful and persistent figure in American Culture. As a woman poet, Dickinson has been
portrayed as singular and enigmatic and even eccentric. Often Dickinson is pointed a young
woman in white, closeted in the upper rooms of her home, isolated not only from her
neighbors and friends but also from the historical and cultural events taking place outside her
door. In her work she consequently presented the class. The Work itself is having essence of
transcendentalism, intellect and deep, intense artistic sense.
Her seeking the crux of experience affected her style. The absoluteness of her style is
extraordinary and opens amazing world before reader’s mind. Its contradictory interpretations
perplex and startle the reader. Her fragmented multiple and imaginative qualities had
emerged her as modernist writer. Her vast appeal lies not only in her writing but also in her
literary persona, one that has become extraordinary resonant in her popular imagination.
