So what is serious games? It’s the application of games concepts and technologies to non-entertainment. Games based learning is being used in business, health, military and education applications already. It includes blending 3D environments with data simulations to model business processes.It can be used for virtual conferences and offers new ways for us to collaborate.
The cluster is looking at three broad high growth markets. Digital content for entertainment, develops new business models and content types in film and games. Digital Lifestyle, looks at innovating new forms of digital media for citizens, tourists and business, working with partners such as Digital Birmingham. Business Futures looks at the exploitation of web 2.0 applications and techniques, finding new ways to use 3D modelling, virtual simulations, data mash-ups, and innovative collaboration.
