My Professional Goals
Starting point #1: What professional path can you imagine for yourself?
In high school, I never imagined attending the nation's number one public research institution. It was
something that no one from my community had done, and the lack of representation from others in
my community seemed to disencourage me from even applying. It was not until my senior year of
high school that I began applying to colleges, when my older sister encouraged me to apply to the
University of Michigan. She saw potential in the things that I could accomplish, but even her
encouragement lacked to make me understand how I could be admitted into this predominately
white institution. However, I applied early action and was ecstatic when I was accepted.
I came to the...show more content...
She also taught me that I am an agent of change, and whether that impact be small or large it is still
crating a difference in the world. I know that I cannot change everything that is wrong with today's
society but choosing one aspect to focus on will further help improve the current situation. I am
interested in in working to increase the Latinx representation within higher education. It saddened me
when individuals from my own community told me that I did not have what it took to attend the
University of Michigan , the lack of support from my own community made me question my
abilities to thrive in setting that were not created with the intention for people of color. After being
at this university for a year, I learned that I belong here. I also know that I am not the only indiviaa
from my community that belongs here, there are others much more capable than I am that lack
support or a mentor to help them through the process. It will not be easy to address this issue but
but being able to set the example, hopefully others will be motivated by my success and we can
change the current narrative of the Latinx

Personal Professional Goals
My professional and personal goal is to achieve a bachelor degree in healthcare. Being the best
person I can be, and setting goals that I can achieve is my motivation. Setting an example for my
daughter to dream big, set high goals, and hard work will pay off in the end. I will also be the first
person in my immediate family to receive a degree. Growing up getting an education beyond high
school wasn't really pushed or encourage by my parents. Long–term this degree will set me up for a
professional career that I can retire in. Also I can be an example to young adults to set a goal and
stick to it no matter what. With faith and perseverance you can achieve anything you set your mind
to do. I want to be able to support my family better, and be a help to society. In my previous
educational endeavors, which was 10 years ago. I became unfocused on my goals. I got married
while in college and started a fulltime job. I am still married today to my husband of 11 years
now, and we have a 5year old daughter. I'm in a different place in my life right now. I have been
working for a pharmaceutical company for the past 9 years. I want to transition to a healthcare
career. I am now determined to do better, and get things done. The job I work now I'm given
assignments that have to be completed by a deadline. I feel that has help me to be a multi–tasker and
complete what I need to get done in a timely manner. My strengths as a learner is being engaged
in the material that I receive until I understand it and not just memorized it. I am a visual learner,
and memorizing something does not mean you actually understand it. My challenge as a learner
would be writing essays and reports. I feel like my papers doesn't flow how I want them to sound.
I will address this issues on studying and reading books on how I would like to sound as a writer
and a speaker. Writing this 500 word statement was a challenge to me, because I didn't think it
sounded like a student that wanted another shot at earning a degree. My husband Robert has given
me so much support and courage to go back to school. Actually this is the first step and hardest
part of going back to school when you have been out for 10 years. I'm not only going back because

My Professional Goals
The saying "when life gives you lemon..." can relate with my collage experience at MNSU as an
international student. In my collage years, I juggled with some financial and personal struggles. I
was very interested and amused how the human body functions, and I was eager and motivated to
know more about this fascinating system. This passion of mine, led me to major in Bio–Medical
field for my undergraduate study. While pursuing the dream of mine, the struggled that I have faced
was unbearable. Even though life has been rough on me, I always stayed positive and used my past
struggles in life as a valuable lesson to motivate me to continue my education.
As an international student, I have faced many obstacles in achieving my dream. Being a non– native
English speaker was one of the obstacles that I had to experience. Growing up in a community that
speaks the same language as me, I never thought I would have a problem in communicating with

The idea of caring for people, and my desire to live a life based on affection, love and compassion
for the people around me gave me the scope to become future Physician Assistant. I believe this
field fits me in any way around from my passion to my personality. I want to provide ongoing
community service to those in need of medical assistance and are less fortunate. I believe I am a
good candidate to receive this scholarship to support my educational goals. Getting this scholarship
will not only gives me the support to my education but also it will make me better as a person.
Receiving this scholarship will boost my self–confidence, knowing that I not only completed a very
important task, but also took the responsibility of creating a foundation for getting me closer to my
career goals. I hope to become one of those special people and it is with great honor and
appreciation that I submit this application for

In a world today where information is at a student's fingertips, it is still so surprising how little
students know about the world around them. It is my professional goal to use my Secondary
Education, Social Studies Broad Field degree to become a High School Global Studies teacher with
a creative twist. When my future students leave my classroom, I want them to have not only a
greater understanding of world events and cultures at large, but also have a great appreciation of the
community culture that surrounds them.
From a young age, I had a sense of cultures – my grandfather was a Cultural Anthropologist, my
mother lived in India, and I had the fortunate experience to travel to Europe and East Asia before
age 16. The fact that all events...show more content...
I have won: 4–H State Award: Nutrition Leadership, Sodexo Stop Hunger Grant, Presidential and
Montana State Volunteer, and Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, county fair 4

have also donated my time to school classes and youth groups to help promote cultural awareness
and college/career readiness skills through organization sponsored workshops. Through volunteering
I have learned how important planning for college and a career is and how many people are
unaware of the options available to them. I've learned some techniques to maximize student's
research and organization time such as developing a portfolio. Currently I serve as an undergraduate
research member on the MSU Blueprints to Success research project. The project is meant to help
high school seniors and college freshman become more competent in selecting further education
choices and help with the confusing financial aid/registration processes. Through this project we
will be creating a website and possibly an app to assist pre and early college students become

Professional Goal When you are younger many times you will have someone ask you, "What do
you want to be when you grow up?" And ever since I was a little girl I would answer, "Whatever I
do I want it to help the world." As I got older, it was evident to me that I wanted to become a
pediatric oncology nurse. When I tell people this they have a certain expression on their face.
They immediately begin to talk about how hard it will be to see young children go through such
trialing events so early in their life. However, I decide to be more optimistic. Although I know
that there will be times when I mourn over the loss of a child, I also see the light in the day where
the child rings the bell declaring that they are cancer free. My goal as I...show more content...
For some people it takes going out of their comfort zone. There is a leadership opportunity offered
for Fellowship of Christian Athletes at my high school and during my freshman and sophomore
year, I was reluctant to join. Although I wanted to join, I was afraid of being judged because I
was a lowerclassmen. The leadership program was mostly filled with upperclassmen and this was
intimidating for me. Finally, during my junior year, I got enough courage to become a leader of
FCA. I put my fear aside and tried something new. Little did I know that from this point on, my
perspective on life would change. FCA allowed me to provide leadership to my fellow students by
leading small groups and offering a time of prayer. It also allowed me to reach out to the FCAmiddle
school students by meeting with them before school to discuss the trials that they will endure as
a young student. By doing all this and becoming a leader, I started to see positivity in the school
more and more. Instead of walking through the halls and seeing all the negativity, I walked the
halls knowing that something good was happening in my school. There was a sense of comfort
knowing that something like FCA was present in such a time that is trying to take God out of the
schools. The fact that I got to be in the middle of it made it all the better. I had the chance to have
a voice. However, many things come with being a leader. One being you are held to a higher
power. People expect more out of you. Therefore, I strived to meet these standards, making
myself a better person in the process. Looking back, I wish I would have stepped up and joined this
leadership group earlier. However, I obviously can not go back and change my decision. But from
now on, I will leap into leading people, whether that is on a spiritual level or just in life, for it helps
me just as much as it helps

In my future endeavors, I would like to pursue a master's degree in nursing as an education
specialist. This specialty of nursing is something that has always intrigued me and after working
within the hospital setting I know this is where I aspire to be. I believe helping current and future
nurses expand upon their knowledge would be very fulfilling for me.
I have come to the decision to pursue a degree in nursing education after spending time as a clinical
preceptor for the hospital I work in. This role involves taking a student from the local nursing school
and allowing them to work side by side with you for around nine weeks. I love the feeling that
teaching someone else the profession gives me. I also took the role of "Skin Care Champion",...show

This is a great attribute to have as a master's prepared nurse because often times you're in a position
of authority over other people. Responsibility and rational thinking would not only help with my
career, but also anyone I was working with as an educator. I am very dedicated to my work and take
any job I do very seriously. This would help with my master's degree studies because I would put
forth my best effort with the courses. It would also help as a master's prepared nurse because I
would dedicate myself to my work and the people I help educate.
The MSN program would help me meet my professional goals by providing me with the resources
to advance my degree. It would be an opportunity to go further with my knowledge and career. It
would also allow me to go into my community after graduation and take my new found knowledge
to my peers. This program would give me the stepping stone I need to take on an advanced role in
my nursing career. It would also allow me the skills to be a leader in my hospital and community.
The main thing the MSN program would allow me to do is expand my knowledge to help the
patients I encounter each day.
Thank you for taking the time to review my essay. I look forward to hearing from you soon. I
know my undergraduate work was not top notch, but I would be very invested in your program.
Thank you again for this

After college and graduate school I plan to be a Marriage and Family therapist or a child
psychologist. Not only do both require an excellent ability to communicate; both also require a
reasonable knowledge and understanding of children. That is why this summer I decided to work
/intern in a child–care facility. I believed it would give me an opportunity to expand my knowledge
on children. For one, it would I get to interact with them on a one–on–one basis and group basis.
Everyday or every week I would be able to see how they are developing; how they are progressing in
life. It would also give me another opportunity to learn how to more effectively communicate with
people, especially those of a younger...show more content...
Although I have taken quite a few psychology courses and I've taken Intro to Communications, I do
believe working in a daycare allows a more hands on learning experience for both topics. Previous
courses such as Developmental psychology and Infant and Child Development have given me an
idea of what the developmental stages of different age groups are but working allows me to see it
face–to–face. A book can give the "average" timing a child is able to do a task however real life
shows you that each child develops at a different pace however all task to happen in just about the
same order.
So far this summer I've learned that by 12 months children are beginning to understand cause and
effect as well as being able to pull themselves to a standing position on a fixed object. This helps
some children begin to walk. I've also learned that by 2 years they are able to match certain objects
with one another as well as begin the road of potty training.
Intro to Communications has taught me important keys to remember when communicating. The first
is learning to listen and the second is learning how to notice on non–verbal communication. This is
essential for children who lack their verbal skills. Another thing I've learned from the class is using
positive language and I–language rather than negative language and you–language. This just means
that instead of saying "No, don't throw your food" I would try saying, "Our food

Growing Professional Goals
The Student Teacher as a Growing Professional (Goals 1 – 5) Areas of Strength (with evidence):
One of my strengths is that I have a strong sense of a "clear commitment to uphold the principles
that should govern a democratic and pluralistic community" (Goal 3). In the classes I teach I have
been working on creating a classroom environment that is both safe and a positive learning
environment. I created a class constitution during my first week of full immersion, and have been
working with students to ensure that the expectations are being followed. For example, when
students use disrespectful language in the classroom, I remind them about the class constitution.
Furthermore, Juliet said that I have created a safe community where students feel...show more

After every lesson I take time to assess what I should change for the next time I do a lesson. Often
during post–conference conversations with Reiko I am able to identify places for improvement
on my own. Juliet also said that I am increasingly proactive, and initiating in regards of being
reflective. Also, I would say that compared to short practicum, I am much more "open and
responsive to feedback and constructive criticism" (Goal 4); I ask questions to clarify the feedback
I receive so that I am able to apply this feedback, and make changes to my future lessons.
Furthermore, I have been adjusting my lessons to better fit the needs of the students I teach; my
curriculum is continually and consciously reshaped through my experiences with a variety of
learners in a range of socio–cultural contexts (Goal 1). Where in the past, I have been worried about
timing, I have been working on slowing down, and making sure that students understand the content
of the lesson. For example, the TPCASTT analysis of poems ended up taking almost two more
extra blocks then I had thought it would take. However, I also think that slowing down the lessons
has helped more students understand the analysis process better. Additionally, I feel like I am
gaining a "stronger sense of what is best for particular students in particular situations (Goal 5).
When I see a student struggling, I am able to break down the assignment or re–explain the task in a
different way so that the student understands it better. I have one student in my class who needs
some direction before she is able to understand the assignment. I often help her with her pre–write,
and guide her as much as I can, so that she feels comfortable completing the rest of the assignment.
Overall, I have grown in my

2017 Goals...
People always say, New year, New me, but they never have actual goals that they achieve. I want
to achieve three things this year, not changing me but changing what I do. I want to become a top
pitcher in my 14u comp. league. I want to be able to bench at least 120+, by the very end of the
year. I also want to achieve a higher GPA from the next few quarters throughout the year. I want a
4.0. I feel like these are very achievable goals and I am ready to go through 2017 with an open mind
on achieving them.
I have an exact plan on all my goals but this is my hardest goal to achieve, and I think I can get
there. To become a great pitcher in my league, Ineed to start practicing everyday pretty soon. I
already have the speed (lower–upper...show more content...
I am always stressed about my grades, but I have a plan to get better grades by the end of 2017, in
the four quarters I have left. To achieve my goal I plan to use the resources I have, but since I
always forget about my iPad, and I am always on my phone, I want to set reminders to do my
homework on my phone. The main reason I don't get good grades is because I don't do the
homework. It is important to do your homework because it is only 30% of your grade, there is a
lot of it. I have learned that another thing that enables me to get my grades, is I forget what
homework I have so I want to put all my homework in with the reminders as they are given to me.
Doing my homework will also help me on tests to get better grades. While having better grades it
means I won't be as stressed and I can get more accomplished as well. v With very advanced plans
on all of my three goals I think I can achieve all of them. I also think all of them will compliment
each other. When I am less stressed I tend to perform better in other things and be more energetic,
which will help softball in itself, but it will help me grow a lot quicker in benching, so that will help
in softball much more. In 2017 I will achieve my goals, and do whatever it takes to do so. I am very
excited for this year, because I think I will grow more than every other year. With a plan I will be the
best I can be. Not a new me but a better

When I turn the T.V on every morning, there always a news segment of people getting murder,
abused, or have gone missing. Tragic events like these aspired me to help find solutions and
techniques on reducing these incidents. Growing up in a rough neighborhood, I have experience
these events which is why seeking a degree from an established school like The University of
Baltimore (UB) would be the greatest achievement I have ever accomplish. Obtaining a master's

A short–term professional goal is to be enrolled in the program and look for an entry–level job in the
criminal justice field. I am confident UB will be of assistance to achieve my short–term goal
because it has the resources and professors that will be helpful on reaching my goal. Another
short–term goal would be if I get accepted, my goal would be to start out strong. I will balance my
job with school and hope to graduate with honors. My personal long–term goal is to graduate from
UB with the highest possible grade. A master's degree from UB will be the first step in helping
me achieve the job I wish in either the correctional organizations, courts, probation, parole,
juvenile justice, or victim services. UB will teach me the skills and strategies on becoming a true
professional in the criminal justice field. Their staff will be the main resource on coaching me.
Besides that, UB will give me access to real work experience with their networking. I have been
planning on gaining real world experience in this field, for instance, I will be volunteering for the
Rockville courthouse for a program that assists abused victims when they are in trial. This is
something I want to do because even though my job is great, I wish to move on to something for
beneficial to others. I plan on volunteering to other organization to give me more experience while
balancing my job. I believe criminal justice professionals are vital to society because they keep order
as well as gives the public support when

Choosing a career in medicine is my first career choice, and in many ways it is the only career
choice I want. From professional athletes that we see on television, to the educators that have
taught me and many others through the years, they all have committed themselves to extensive
study. They have practiced countless of hours to master their individual skill set for their
profession. I see myself following in the same footsteps, but as a pediatrician. I want to also
master the skills that it takes to be a great doctor. It may not be simple and the outcome may not be
near, but with extensive studying and practice I want to achieve and master the set of skills of
pediatric diagnosis and eventually improve the medical process. This is my...show more content...
My working experience with Dr. Sure has taught me that to exercise good clinical judgment
required extensive study, practice, and endless hours of work. As a pediatrician, I will strive to
make every effort to empower and educate my own patients with the knowledge that will give them

healthier tomorrow.
Naturally, my eagerness to learn came about at a very young age. I always wanted to know how the
human body worked. Growing up in the age of YouTube, I often poured over countless hours of
videos learning simple concepts that I could easily understand at that time. As I grew I was always
looking to learn something new. Finally, in high school I took advantage of College Now, a
program where students in high school had access to college classes on a college campus while
receiving college credits. While I was there, I earned a Certificate in Computer Science from
CUNY Queens College. This eagerness to learn came about of a very simple reason. My parents
had high aspirations for me since no one on either side of their families had ever gone beyond a
high school education. They wanted me to be the first in the family to achieve a Bachelor's degree.
Finally in 2012, I graduated from St. Johns University with a

Professional Goals Essay

  • 1. My Professional Goals Starting point #1: What professional path can you imagine for yourself? In high school, I never imagined attending the nation's number one public research institution. It was something that no one from my community had done, and the lack of representation from others in my community seemed to disencourage me from even applying. It was not until my senior year of high school that I began applying to colleges, when my older sister encouraged me to apply to the University of Michigan. She saw potential in the things that I could accomplish, but even her encouragement lacked to make me understand how I could be admitted into this predominately white institution. However, I applied early action and was ecstatic when I was accepted. I came to the...show more content... She also taught me that I am an agent of change, and whether that impact be small or large it is still crating a difference in the world. I know that I cannot change everything that is wrong with today's society but choosing one aspect to focus on will further help improve the current situation. I am interested in in working to increase the Latinx representation within higher education. It saddened me when individuals from my own community told me that I did not have what it took to attend the University of Michigan , the lack of support from my own community made me question my abilities to thrive in setting that were not created with the intention for people of color. After being at this university for a year, I learned that I belong here. I also know that I am not the only indiviaa from my community that belongs here, there are others much more capable than I am that lack support or a mentor to help them through the process. It will not be easy to address this issue but but being able to set the example, hopefully others will be motivated by my success and we can change the current narrative of the Latinx Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Personal Professional Goals My professional and personal goal is to achieve a bachelor degree in healthcare. Being the best person I can be, and setting goals that I can achieve is my motivation. Setting an example for my daughter to dream big, set high goals, and hard work will pay off in the end. I will also be the first person in my immediate family to receive a degree. Growing up getting an education beyond high school wasn't really pushed or encourage by my parents. Long–term this degree will set me up for a professional career that I can retire in. Also I can be an example to young adults to set a goal and stick to it no matter what. With faith and perseverance you can achieve anything you set your mind to do. I want to be able to support my family better, and be a help to society. In my previous educational endeavors, which was 10 years ago. I became unfocused on my goals. I got married while in college and started a fulltime job. I am still married today to my husband of 11 years now, and we have a 5year old daughter. I'm in a different place in my life right now. I have been working for a pharmaceutical company for the past 9 years. I want to transition to a healthcare career. I am now determined to do better, and get things done. The job I work now I'm given assignments that have to be completed by a deadline. I feel that has help me to be a multi–tasker and complete what I need to get done in a timely manner. My strengths as a learner is being engaged in the material that I receive until I understand it and not just memorized it. I am a visual learner, and memorizing something does not mean you actually understand it. My challenge as a learner would be writing essays and reports. I feel like my papers doesn't flow how I want them to sound. I will address this issues on studying and reading books on how I would like to sound as a writer and a speaker. Writing this 500 word statement was a challenge to me, because I didn't think it sounded like a student that wanted another shot at earning a degree. My husband Robert has given me so much support and courage to go back to school. Actually this is the first step and hardest part of going back to school when you have been out for 10 years. I'm not only going back because my husband Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay On Professional Goals My Professional Goals The saying "when life gives you lemon..." can relate with my collage experience at MNSU as an international student. • 4. Professional Goal In a world today where information is at a student's fingertips, it is still so surprising how little students know about the world around them. It is my professional goal to use my Secondary Education, Social Studies Broad Field degree to become a High School Global Studies teacher with a creative twist. When my future students leave my classroom, I want them to have not only a greater understanding of world events and cultures at large, but also have a great appreciation of the community culture that surrounds them. From a young age, I had a sense of cultures – my grandfather was a Cultural Anthropologist, my mother lived in India, and I had the fortunate experience to travel to Europe and East Asia before age 16. Through volunteering I have learned how important planning for college and a career is and how many people are unaware of the options available to them. I've learned some techniques to maximize student's research and organization time such as developing a portfolio. Currently I serve as an undergraduate research member on the MSU Blueprints to Success research project. The project is meant to help high school seniors and college freshman become more competent in selecting further education choices and help with the confusing financial aid/registration processes. • 5. Professional Goals Professional Goal When you are younger many times you will have someone ask you, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" And ever since I was a little girl I would answer, "Whatever I do I want it to help the world." As I got older, it was evident to me that I wanted to become a pediatric oncology nurse. When I tell people this they have a certain expression on their face. They immediately begin to talk about how hard it will be to see young children go through such trialing events so early in their life. However, I decide to be more optimistic. Although I know that there will be times when I mourn over the loss of a child, I also see the light in the day where the child rings the bell declaring that they are cancer free. My goal as I...show more content... For some people it takes going out of their comfort zone. There is a leadership opportunity offered for Fellowship of Christian Athletes at my high school and during my freshman and sophomore year, I was reluctant to join. Although I wanted to join, I was afraid of being judged because I was a lowerclassmen. The leadership program was mostly filled with upperclassmen and this was intimidating for me. Finally, during my junior year, I got enough courage to become a leader of FCA. I put my fear aside and tried something new. Little did I know that from this point on, my perspective on life would change. FCA allowed me to provide leadership to my fellow students by leading small groups and offering a time of prayer. It also allowed me to reach out to the FCAmiddle school students by meeting with them before school to discuss the trials that they will endure as a young student. By doing all this and becoming a leader, I started to see positivity in the school more and more. Instead of walking through the halls and seeing all the negativity, I walked the halls knowing that something good was happening in my school. There was a sense of comfort knowing that something like FCA was present in such a time that is trying to take God out of the schools. The fact that I got to be in the middle of it made it all the better. I had the chance to have a voice. However, many things come with being a leader. One being you are held to a higher power. People expect more out of you. Therefore, I strived to meet these standards, making myself a better person in the process. Looking back, I wish I would have stepped up and joined this leadership group earlier. However, I obviously can not go back and change my decision. But from now on, I will leap into leading people, whether that is on a spiritual level or just in life, for it helps me just as much as it helps Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Professional Goals Essay In my future endeavors, I would like to pursue a master's degree in nursing as an education specialist. This specialty of nursing is something that has always intrigued me and after working within the hospital setting I know this is where I aspire to be. I believe helping current and future nurses expand upon their knowledge would be very fulfilling for me. I have come to the decision to pursue a degree in nursing education after spending time as a clinical preceptor for the hospital I work in. This role involves taking a student from the local nursing school and allowing them to work side by side with you for around nine weeks. I love the feeling that teaching someone else the profession gives me. I also took the role of "Skin Care Champion",...show more content... This is a great attribute to have as a master's prepared nurse because often times you're in a position of authority over other people. Responsibility and rational thinking would not only help with my career, but also anyone I was working with as an educator. I am very dedicated to my work and take any job I do very seriously. This would help with my master's degree studies because I would put forth my best effort with the courses. It would also help as a master's prepared nurse because I would dedicate myself to my work and the people I help educate. The MSN program would help me meet my professional goals by providing me with the resources to advance my degree. It would be an opportunity to go further with my knowledge and career. It would also allow me to go into my community after graduation and take my new found knowledge to my peers. This program would give me the stepping stone I need to take on an advanced role in my nursing career. It would also allow me the skills to be a leader in my hospital and community. The main thing the MSN program would allow me to do is expand my knowledge to help the patients I encounter each day. Thank you for taking the time to review my essay. I look forward to hearing from you soon. I know my undergraduate work was not top notch, but I would be very invested in your program. Thank you again for this Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Essay about Professional Goals June 21, 2010 INTE 499 Midterm After college and graduate school I plan to be a Marriage and Family therapist or a child psychologist. Not only do both require an excellent ability to communicate; both also require a reasonable knowledge and understanding of children. That is why this summer I decided to work /intern in a child–care facility. I believed it would give me an opportunity to expand my knowledge on children. For one, it would I get to interact with them on a one–on–one basis and group basis. Everyday or every week I would be able to see how they are developing; how they are progressing in life. It would also give me another opportunity to learn how to more effectively communicate with people, especially those of a younger...show more content... Although I have taken quite a few psychology courses and I've taken Intro to Communications, I do believe working in a daycare allows a more hands on learning experience for both topics. Previous courses such as Developmental psychology and Infant and Child Development have given me an idea of what the developmental stages of different age groups are but working allows me to see it face–to–face. A book can give the "average" timing a child is able to do a task however real life shows you that each child develops at a different pace however all task to happen in just about the same order. So far this summer I've learned that by 12 months children are beginning to understand cause and effect as well as being able to pull themselves to a standing position on a fixed object. This helps some children begin to walk. I've also learned that by 2 years they are able to match certain objects with one another as well as begin the road of potty training. Intro to Communications has taught me important keys to remember when communicating. The first is learning to listen and the second is learning how to notice on non–verbal communication. This is essential for children who lack their verbal skills. Another thing I've learned from the class is using positive language and I–language rather than negative language and you–language. This just means that instead of saying "No, don't throw your food" I would try saying, "Our food Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Growing Professional Goals The Student Teacher as a Growing Professional (Goals 1 – 5) Areas of Strength (with evidence): One of my strengths is that I have a strong sense of a "clear commitment to uphold the principles that should govern a democratic and pluralistic community" (Goal 3). In the classes I teach I have been working on creating a classroom environment that is both safe and a positive learning environment. I created a class constitution during my first week of full immersion, and have been working with students to ensure that the expectations are being followed. For example, when students use disrespectful language in the classroom, I remind them about the class constitution. Furthermore, Juliet said that I have created a safe community where students feel...show more content... After every lesson I take time to assess what I should change for the next time I do a lesson. Often during post–conference conversations with Reiko I am able to identify places for improvement on my own. Juliet also said that I am increasingly proactive, and initiating in regards of being reflective. Also, I would say that compared to short practicum, I am much more "open and responsive to feedback and constructive criticism" (Goal 4); I ask questions to clarify the feedback I receive so that I am able to apply this feedback, and make changes to my future lessons. Furthermore, I have been adjusting my lessons to better fit the needs of the students I teach; my curriculum is continually and consciously reshaped through my experiences with a variety of learners in a range of socio–cultural contexts (Goal 1). Where in the past, I have been worried about timing, I have been working on slowing down, and making sure that students understand the content of the lesson. For example, the TPCASTT analysis of poems ended up taking almost two more extra blocks then I had thought it would take. However, I also think that slowing down the lessons has helped more students understand the analysis process better. Additionally, I feel like I am gaining a "stronger sense of what is best for particular students in particular situations (Goal 5). When I see a student struggling, I am able to break down the assignment or re–explain the task in a different way so that the student understands it better. I have one student in my class who needs some direction before she is able to understand the assignment. I often help her with her pre–write, and guide her as much as I can, so that she feels comfortable completing the rest of the assignment. • 9. My Professional Goals 2017 Goals... People always say, New year, New me, but they never have actual goals that they achieve. I want to achieve three things this year, not changing me but changing what I do. I want to become a top pitcher in my 14u comp. league. I want to be able to bench at least 120+, by the very end of the year. I also want to achieve a higher GPA from the next few quarters throughout the year. I want a 4.0. I feel like these are very achievable goals and I am ready to go through 2017 with an open mind on achieving them. I have an exact plan on all my goals but this is my hardest goal to achieve, and I think I can get there. To become a great pitcher in my league, Ineed to start practicing everyday pretty soon. I already have the speed (lower–upper...show more content... I am always stressed about my grades, but I have a plan to get better grades by the end of 2017, in the four quarters I have left. To achieve my goal I plan to use the resources I have, but since I always forget about my iPad, and I am always on my phone, I want to set reminders to do my homework on my phone. The main reason I don't get good grades is because I don't do the homework. It is important to do your homework because it is only 30% of your grade, there is a lot of it. I have learned that another thing that enables me to get my grades, is I forget what homework I have so I want to put all my homework in with the reminders as they are given to me. Doing my homework will also help me on tests to get better grades. While having better grades it means I won't be as stressed and I can get more accomplished as well. v With very advanced plans on all of my three goals I think I can achieve all of them. I also think all of them will compliment each other. When I am less stressed I tend to perform better in other things and be more energetic, which will help softball in itself, but it will help me grow a lot quicker in benching, so that will help in softball much more. In 2017 I will achieve my goals, and do whatever it takes to do so. I am very excited for this year, because I think I will grow more than every other year. With a plan I will be the best I can be. UB will teach me the skills and strategies on becoming a true professional in the criminal justice field. Their staff will be the main resource on coaching me. Besides that, UB will give me access to real work experience with their networking. I have been planning on gaining real world experience in this field, for instance, I will be volunteering for the Rockville courthouse for a program that assists abused victims when they are in trial. From professional athletes that we see on television, to the educators that have taught me and many others through the years, they all have committed themselves to extensive study. They have practiced countless of hours to master their individual skill set for their profession. I see myself following in the same footsteps, but as a pediatrician. As a pediatrician, I will strive to make every effort to empower and educate my own patients with the knowledge that will give them control over there aliments. With each visit I hope that we can work together for a brighter and healthier tomorrow. Naturally, my eagerness to learn came about at a very young age. I always wanted to know how the human body worked. Growing up in the age of YouTube, I often poured over countless hours of videos learning simple concepts that I could easily understand at that time. As I grew I was always looking to learn something new. Finally, in high school I took advantage of College Now, a program where students in high school had access to college classes on a college campus while receiving college credits. While I was there, I earned a Certificate in Computer Science from CUNY Queens College. This eagerness to learn came about of a very simple reason. My parents had high aspirations for me since no one on either side of their families had ever gone beyond a high school education. They wanted me to be the first in the family to achieve a Bachelor's degree. Finally in 2012, I graduated from St. Johns University with a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
