Individual Project


I teach third grade in the Omaha Public Schools. My students did very well
academically in most areas, however, deficits were in multiplication and
problem solving. My focus will be working on improving math instruction in
the fall and will incorporate my project into my fall study. I want to
investigate how well incorporating technology into the math curriculum will
improve math achievement. I plan on using pre and post assessments,
teacher observation, rubrics and district assessments to chart my findings.
I plan on compiling sites that are specific to the standards set for third
grade in the Omaha Public Schools. I will also incorporate different
technologies that will increase understanding of the skill that will "hook" the
students.
There are a wealth of sites available. I will compile a list of sites
appropriate for each strand and have those available for my grade level to
use with their students as well. I plan to put this document in a power point
and add that to issuu.com
an on-line publishing sit. This application will display the math unit in a
flash magazine format that is very friendly and professional. I can inbedd
this into a wiki or download it onto my OPS site when the school year
begins.
