Who would be the audience for your media product?
1. Who would be the audience for
your media product?
-Who Are The Target Audience?
-What Pre Production Work Have You
Conducted With Your Audience?
-How Did You Use It?
2. Who Are The Target Audience?
• Age:
• Although no age is particularly specified to
the film, we believe that it would be
unsuitable for anyone under 15 to view the
finished product. However, we believe the
majority of our audience would be
between 15-20 years of age, as our main
character is around sixteen years of age, so
they may relate to her on a larger scale.
Also, people around that age are more
likely to have younger siblings around the
same age as Younger Lucinda and her
sister, who was kidnapped. So, they are
more likely to empathise with her.
3. Gender:
• Although the film is not
particularly targeted at
either males or females,
females may be more
inclined to watch the film
as all of the characters
(apart from the kidnapper)
are female. This means
that women are more
likely to relate and
empathise with the
characters.
4. Habits/Lifestyle
• As our film is more likely to
attract young adults, we are
expecting that many of our
viewers will be students.
They are more likely to go to
the cinema to see the film,
as cinema prices are usually
discounted for students. Our
audience are more likely to
be specifically into the
horror genre, and will be
expecting to be
scared/frightened by our
film.
5. Ethnicity
• People of many
different races and
backgrounds will be
targeted to watch our
film. However, we feel
our film may attract a
largely white/British
audience as all of the
characters in our film
are of this Ethnicity.
6. What pre production work was carried
out with your target audience?
• Questionnaires: We initially asked people
about their gender, age and lifestyle. We then
showed these people a copy of our script, in
which they were asked for opinions on our
storyline and our characters.
Do you think we portrayed our
main character well?
Did you find
the script
entertaining
?
Do you think our film is
unique compared with other
films of this genre?
7. Result Graphs
• In our result graphs, we found the majority of
people in our target audience were both
males and females over the age of 15. Their
opinions helped us decide what location we
should use for our film and what Lucinda
should look like.
8. How Did You Use It?
• Location: When asking
about opinions on
where we should shoot
our film, many people
believed a hospital
setting would be ideal
as Lucinda is a mental
patient. To achieve this,
we used the medical
rooms in college to add
realism to the hospital
setting.

Used.
9. How Did You Use It?
• Subverting Stereotypes: An
occurring comment that our target
audience made was that our
characters were too stereotypical.
To avoid this, our psychologist was
a female character, which may not
be what is expected for such a
powerful and dominant profession.
However, we wanted to keep our
characters slightly stereotypical in
order to ensure our film was
recognised as a Psychological
Thriller.
