BIOGRAPHY: MARUFA ISHAQUE
Ms. Marufa Ishaque is a citizen of Bangladesh. She is an undergrad-
uate student (4th year) in the department of Geography and
Environment of University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Marufa has achieved
Champion of the Champions Award in the first Environment
Olympiad of Bangladesh. She has participated in SERVIR Himalaya
Youth Forum, ‘Earth Observation: Empowering Youth for Climate
Actions in the Himalayas’ in Bangladesh, 2012 International
Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability and awarded
3rd prize on International Poster Competition in China. She
participated in Asia Pacific Graduates’ Youth Forum on Green
Economy in Kathmandu, Nepal in 2012 and from there she has
selected to attend UNFCCC COP 18 as Asia Pacific Youth
Ambassador. She has also achieved International Award for Young
People by HRH the Duke of Edinburgh, 2011. She was the editor
of Viqarunnisa Noon Debating Club of the year 2009 and published
yearly magazine named “SHUNRIT”. She is a lyric writer and she
is now working as a freelance journalist in a renowned Bangla daily
newspaper “Prothom Alo”. She is also involved with Quantum Foun-
dation and working for the betterment of tribal children of Bandarban
Upazila of Bangladesh. She is very much concerned about sustain-
ability issues and believes that global cooperation can lead a better
