3. We are making business, not gambling
Making a business without having any
preparation or understand about the business
is the same as gambling. We do not control
our business, but only relying on luck instead.
It’s like jumping to the sea without learning
how to swim first. We might survive if we can
learn very fast or struggling until we are able
to swim, but most of the time, we will drown.
4. Even if you don’t start your own business, you
can still think of yourself as a business. We
need to manage our money, just like in the
business. We need to be unique so that we
can have competitive advantages. The
concept in our lives is quite similar with
business
"Don't just follow your passions, broaden your
passions, and your life will be rich beyond
measure." ~ Dr. Barbara Oakley in her TEDx talk.
5. You need to be focused
Keep the balance between studying and
resting
Test yourself
Docendo discimus – by teaching, we learn
Make your learning fun
Practice, practice, practice!
6. Try to learn in a different place
Changing the place where you learn can help
you learn better
Pomodoro Technique
Try to focus for 25 minutes without any
distractions. Turn off your phone, turn off your
TV, turn off all of your social media, and focus
on doing what your need to do. You can take
a break and do whatever you want after 25
minutes as your reward
7. You can’t learn by focusing your mind on the
subject all the time
Try to give some break to your brain
Watching TV, playing games, sleep, sports,
anything that can make you feel relax
There are 2 kinds of thinking: focused
thinking and diffuse thinking. Diffuse thinking
is a condition when our brain is not focusing
on the subject that we study. Unconsciously,
our brain will still be studying on this mode
where we feel relax.
8. Do not cram!
In Indonesia, students often use the term
“SKS” or Sistem Kebut Semalam (One Night
Speeding System) where they just do their
assignments or studying on the night before
the test. This is not good, and we will only
remember what we’ve learned for a short
time. Try to learn more often in a short time
rather than learning once in a longer time. For
example: Try to learn 15 minutes every day
for a week than learning 2 hours in a day.
9. Often test yourself with the subject that
you learned
You will know if you already mastered the
subject or not.
Do not be afraid of tests
It’s not like an exam where you fail, it’s a
tool for you to know how far you’ve
mastered the subject and also to help you
learn the subject again if you haven’t
master it.
10. Make a study groups
Learning and teaching friends is good for
your own study
Teach others
When you teach, sometimes you will
encounter things that you haven’t master.
It will give you a chance to re-learn the
subject.
11. You can use gamification system to make
your learning feels like a game
For example: if you can learn 3 days in a
roll, then you are level 2, and when you
are level 2, you are allowed to watch
movies or other things. Give yourself the
reward to make you feel enjoy.
12. You cannot learn entrepreneurship only by
studying the theory
Go out and try it yourself! Start your own
small business
Learn from your own experience
Have fun with it!
