2. Open the “ENTER STUDENT’S
INFORMATION” link

3. Enter your information in this section

4. Read the message at the top of the Login Page
and Press “NEXT” to continue

5. Open the “CREATE AN FSA ID” link

6. Enter the e-mail address you use most
regularly.

7. Create a Username.
DO NOT CONTINUE UNTIL YOU RECEIVE THE MESSAGE
THAT YOUR USERNAME IS AVAILABLE

8. Create a Password. Password MUST HAVE all of
the following characteristics
*Number
*Uppercase Letter
*Lowercase Letter
*Special Character (examples include -
&$#@*+^%)

9. Answer the question about your age

10. Type your Social Security Number, Date of Birth, Full
Name, and Press “CONTINUE”
FOR RETURNING STUDENTS: You will need to enter
your previous FAFSA “PIN” also.

11. Review all information entered
Add your address and telephone number before
pressing “CONTINUE”

12. Select two Challenge Questions and Type the Answer
to the Questions.

Press Continue

13. Review all information entered, accept the terms
and conditions before pressing “CONTINUE”

14. You will be asked to enter a SECURE
CODE.
This code is sent to the e-mail address
you provided. Open your e-mail now
to retrieve the code.

15. Open FSA ID INFORMATION marked “IMPORTANT-
YOUR FSA ID E-MAIL VALIDATION”

16. In the E-mail you will find your Secure
Code

17. Enter the code from your e-mail into
the Secure Code area and press
“CONTINUE”.

18. You have successfully created your FSA ID
DO NOT return to the FSA ID log-in page.
Close the FSA ID page.

19. Return to the FAFSA website and enter
your new USERNAME and PASSWORD.

20. What if my FSA ID is disabled or
locked?
• If your FSA ID has been locked you can update your FSA
ID to unlock your account.
• If you have an FSA ID but do not remember your
username, click Forgot Username.
• If you have an FSA ID but do not remember your
password, click Forgot Password.
• Note: The password must be between 8 to 30 characters
long. You can use any combination of numbers,
uppercase and lowercase letters, and / or special
characters.
• If your FSA ID is disabled you must contact customer
service for more information at 1-800-4-FED-AID
(1-800-433-3243).
