Are we called to have faith in a God that is absent from our lives? Did He set everything into
motion and just leave us to figure out our own path? Has God left us to our own devices?
This reminds me of a child who spins a top and lets it spin out of control only to crash into the wall,
teeter, totter, and ultimately fall. Is this the way God interacts with His creation?
Not at all. Because God is Faithful.
When life gets hard, we mess up, we sin - He is still there, loving us. God is still faithful when:
· I'm ungrateful for the blessings He's given
· I put other desires above Him
· I forget to pray/study my Bible
· I'm struggling with temptation or sin
· I doubt His goodness, or even His existence
2 Timothy 2:11-13 shows us: âThe saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we
will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will
deny us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful for he cannot deny himself.â
If we turn our back on God in denial, He will also deny us, but His faithfulness shows He will
take us back. Why would God do this?
It comes down to His promise. Do a search on Godâs promises in the Bible and you will be
overwhelmed by this theme throughout its beautiful pages. God promised Abraham that through
his line all the earth would be blessed. God told Abraham to leave Ur and go to a place He would
tell him. That place became known as the Promised Land. God is faithful to us because He is
staying true to His promise. God will always hold up His end of the deal (2 Timothy 2:13). We
must do our best to uphold our end of the deal and walk in faith and obedience until Jesus
returns.
âThe Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you,
not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. But the day of the Lord
will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies
will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposedâ
(2 Peter 3:9-10).
This passage shows that God has faith in us, but we must return this faith to Him.
âAnd without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must
believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek himâ (Hebrews 11:6).
It will be challenging to have such a faith, and we will be tempted to give up. My favorite passage
concerning the faithfulness of God is found in 1 Corinthians 10:13. âNo temptation has
overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted
beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you
may be able to endure it.â
God is Faithful.

THE LAW OF HARVEST
By: Tim Shoemaker
The apostle Paul issued a warning to the Galatians
brethren but to us also in regard to the âLaw of Harvest.â
Paul said, âDo not be deceived, God is not mocked;
for whatsoever a man sows, this he will also
reapâ (Gal. 6:7).
Paulâs choice of words (as led by the Holy Spirit)
is intriguing. The word âdeceiveâ is from the Greek ma
planasthe which means âto go astray; be misled; wander
away.â The Galatians were in danger of being led astray
to believing they could sow a life of not caring for their
fellow Christians and still reap a life of blessings from
God. However, Paul also tells us that âGod is not
mocked.â This particular word in the Greek is mukterizo
from mukter meaning ânose.â The idea is that âone can-
not turn up his nose at; one cannot sneer at God, or treat
Him with contempt.â Paul is not saying that such actions
would be impossible for men to do, only that men cannot
do these things with impunity. They will answer to God
for the life they have chosen to lead.
There is this law of harvest. âFor whatsoever a
man sows, this he will also reap.â Paul expands upon
this law and tells us âFor the one who sows to his own
flesh shall from the flesh reap corruption, but the
one who sows to the Spirit shall from the Spirit reap
eternal lifeâ (Gal. 6:8). There are two sowings and two
reapings. To sow to the flesh is to give in to the desires
of the flesh and the harvest would be âruin, destruction,
dissolution or deterioration.â If we feed our physical body
trash we will reap a harvest of poor health. If we feed our
spirit trash following after the ways of the flesh we can
expect only a harvest of suffering. In speaking of the fruit
of Israelâs sin, Hosea said, âFor they sow the wind, and
they reap the whirlwindâ (Hosea 8:7a). In sowing to
the flesh we not only reap corruption we reap more than
we sow. Israel had sown a gentle breeze but they would
reap a tornado. Israelâs reaping would be far more de-
structive. When John wrote of the destruction of Jerusa-
lem in the book of Revelation he said, âFor her sins
have reached to heaven, and God has remembered
her iniquities. 6 "Render to her just as she rendered
to you, and repay her double according to her works;
in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for
herâ (Rev. 18:5, 6). Again the reaping of her harvest for
the sin she had sown would be twice that of her works.
But there is the second reaping in keeping with
the same law. If we sow to the Spirit we shall of the Spirit
reap eternal life! If we follow the leading of the Holy
Spirit, if we believe in Jesus, so as to repent of our sins,
confess Him before men and be buried with Him in bap-
tism we have our past sins forgiven. If we live faithful to
Him until death we will receive the crown of life! What
you are sowing will determine what you will reap. If we
can assist you in sowing to the Spirit that you might reap
eternal life please let that be made known now by com-
ing forward while we stand and sing.

Thank you to each person who filled
shoebox gifts for the children of Panama.
You did an excellent job! Keep in mind that
a young child in a very poor area of Panama
will open the box that you filled and marvel
at the gifts that you sent from the United
States-just for them.
We appreciate Brianna Couch so much
for offering to initiate the project at

lady, and I am sure that you are proud of
her accomplishments.
God Bless you all!
