5. November 9-10, 1938
• Kristallnacht: “The Night of
Broken Glass”
– pogrom against Jews throughout
Nazi Germany and parts of Austria,
carried out by SA stormtroopers and
civilians.
• German authorities looked on without
intervening. The attacks left the streets
covered with broken glass from the
windows of Jewish-owned stores,
buildings, and synagogues
6. Jewish Ghettos 1939
• Jews forced to live in confined
areas within cities. (Mainly Polish
cities.)

9. • “The Eternal or Wandering Jew”—1940. As part of its
wartime attack on Jews, the Ministry of Propaganda
used motion pictures as a medium for anti-Semitic
messages.
