2. Jonas’s Conflict
JONAS FELT ALONE
BECAUSE OF HIS NEW
ABILITIES
Evidence:
In The Giver, Jonas
came between pretend
shooting games in the
park. When he got
“shot” he remembered
the boy in the war from
the memory who needed
water. No one else at the
park, including his best
friend, could feel the
pain that Jonas felt at
that time. They didn’t
have real feelings.
3. Jonas’s Resolution
JONAS RUNS AWAY…
Evidence:
Jonas talked with
The Giver about a
plan for everyone to
know real feelings
are. The plan was to
leave the town and
actually get to
Elsewhere. Jonas
succeeded and
Gabriel was with
him.
4. Armstrong’s
Conflict
LANCE GETS
CANCER
Evidence:
The story, “It’s Not
About The Bike”,
shows how Lance
Armstrong gets
cancer and things
turn for the worst.
5. Armstrong’s
Resolution
LANCE BEATS
CANCER
Evidence:
Lance Armstrong
was able to beat
cancer. He didn’t do
it on his own,
however. With the
help of a wonderful
nurse, he recovered.
He said that he would
never forget her.
6. Jimmy Valentines
Conflict
HE DIDN’T START HIS
LIFE OVER
Evidence: In the
Narrative, “A
Retrieved
Reformation”,
Jimmy Valentine
gets out of jail.
Instead of going
straight, He went
right back to his old
ways.
7. Jimmy Valentine’s
Resolution
JIMMY GOES STARIGHT
Evidence:
A woman named
Annabel was strolling
by. Jimmy noticed her
and become a new
person. He had fallen
in love. He stop
robbing banks and
went into shoe
business. He even
changed his name to
Ralph D. Spencer. He
was going to marry
her.
8. ALWAYS A
RESOLUTION
Every character in each story had a solution. It didn’t matter
if it was a good one or a bad one. Jonas’s resolution was
sadly running away. Lance Armstrong’s resolution was
beating cancer. Jimmy Valentines resolution was love and
starting over. Even the three little pigs had a resolution
which was building a brick house. As you can see there’s
always a resolution.
