Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

2. “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”
Psalms 96:4-5
For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be
feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols:
but the Lord made the heavens.

Deuteronomy 6:4-5
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:
Psalms 135:15-17
The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men's
hands. They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they,
but they see not; They have ears, but they hear not; neither is
there any breath in their mouths.
Habbakuk 2:19-20
Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone,
Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and

3. “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.”
Psalms 97:77
Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast
themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.
Acts 17:29
…we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or
silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
Isaiah 42:8
I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to
another, neither my praise to graven images.

4. “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.”
Matthew 5:33-37
Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not
forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: But I say unto you,
Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: Nor by the earth; for it
is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. Neither
shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or
black. But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more
than these cometh of evil.
Isaiah 48:1
Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are
come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the Lord, and
make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.

5. “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.”
Leviticus 23:1;3
And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Six days shall work be
done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy
convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of
the Lord in all your dwellings.
Exodus 35:2
Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall
be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the Lord: whosoever
doeth work therein shall be put to death.

And it shall come to pass, that from one new

6. Proverbs 30:17

7. “Thou shalt not kill.”
Exodus 20:13

not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the

8. “Thou shalt not commit adultery.”
Matthew 5:27-32
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt
not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever
looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery
with her already in his heart. And if thy right eye offend thee,
pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee
that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole
body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee,
cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that
one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body
should be cast into hell. It hath been said, Whosoever shall put
away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: But I
say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for
the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and
whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

9. “Thou shalt not steal.”
Exodus 22:1
If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell
it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep
for a sheep.
Ephesians 4:28
Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him
labour, working with his hands the thing which is good,
that he may have to give to him that needeth.
Proverbs 6:30-31
Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul
when he is hungry; But if he be found, he shall restore
sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.

10. “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.”

11. “Thou shalt not covet.”

maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy
neighbour's.
Luke 12:15
And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of
covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance
of the things which he possesseth.

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content
with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave
thee, nor forsake thee.

12. Is Keeping the Law/Commandments
Required Under The Old Testament Only?
Joshua 22:5
But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the
law, which Moses the servant of the Lord charged you, to
love the Lord your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to
keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to
serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Mark 12:29-31
And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O
Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy
God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and
with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is
like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none
other commandment greater than these.
Matthew 22:37-40
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,
and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great
commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy
neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law
and the prophets.
Romans 13:8-10
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another
hath fulfilled the law. For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not
kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not
covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in
this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love worketh no
ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
1 Kings 2:3
And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his
ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and
his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the
law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou
doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:

13. Psalms 19:7
The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the
testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
Isaiah 51:7
Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in
whose heart is my law…
Deuteronomy 6:25
And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these
commandments before the Lord our God, as he hath
commanded us.
