Better serving patients with LD-Mobile and the iPad
AT A GLANCE
American Outcomes Management (AOM) is a physician-owned provider of
in-home IV (intra-venous) therapy and infusion services seeking to continue to
improve its industry-leading level of patient care. Field nurses and company em-
ployees were using a paper-based process for its primary account management
tool, the multi-page, 3-ply Patient Visit Record form. Information collected is
vital to patient medical charts, pharmacists, insurance companies, drug labs and
company billing and payroll departments.
Use of this form involved manually collecting data from patients in the field,
which triggered an enterprise-wide process of faxing, scanning, e-mailing and
physical filing.
Completed forms, often up to 50/day, were routed through several stakehold-
ers, including billing and clinical staff. This led to illegible handwriting, lost/
confused pages, duplicate versions, redundant tasks and the need to excessively
verify patient information.
All stakeholders would be challenged daily by the complexities of this manual process, sometimes severely hampering
workflow. The company also collected physical signatures on its Consent to Services form.
Why LincDoc?
LincDoc was chosen for its applicability in a mobile environment. LD-Mobile, LincDoc’s iPad and tablet device counter-
part, allows (AOM) nurses and other field staff to quickly and accurately collect patient data electronically on a single de-
vice and then immediately route it to appropriate stakeholders for approval and workflow progress. LD-Mobile employs
the same powerful data field input assistance and extreme connectivity with multiple existing systems, ensuring critical
patient data is entered once and provided to all stakeholders.

return on investment when compared to exhaustive processing of paper forms.

LD-Mobile/iPad collected data is submitted to company systems electronically,
streamlining billing, patient medical chart maintenance, clinical administration,
lab result integration, vital sign recordings and nurse payroll.
Improved data confidence
Electronic submission via drop-down fields, check boxes and auto-populated
eForm content, such as patient name and personal data, greatly reduces prob-
ability of human error, thereby reducing time spent in verification and instilling
confidence in the data powering company workflows.
Improved business functions
Outsourced personnel and field staff submit visit data, such as time of arrival,
time on site and time of departure, as well as mileage and other expenses directly
via LD-Mobile to payroll. All visit information is authenticated quickly and pay-
ments are issued faster. Additionally, field staff activity is automatically deposited
into Human Resources files via company ECM system.
Rapid access to patient data
LincDoc’s Web-based repository allows quick look-up of vital patient data for use by pharmacy, field nurses, billing and other
critical stakeholders. No more searching and sorting file folders.

American Outcomes Management was seeking to improve the way it assisted patients and did so by enhancing their own work-
flow. Field and medical staff can now service patients more efficiently with accurate and time-stamped vital sign recording,
on-site drug administration and time saved in verifying patient data. Other departments, such as billing, human resources and
pharmacy technicians are provided data seamlessly in exponentially less time than before the implementation of LincDoc and
LD-Mobile.
