Teaching approach: The lesson is based on the Communicative approach
and organized through The PPP Procedure.
Integration of skills: In this lesson, the students will integrate listening
and reading through a text. And the speaking and writing are integrated
through the activities.
Materials and resources: book Engage 1 OUP Oxford Unit 8 , computer,
and flashcards.
Pedagogical use of ICT in class or at home: In this lesson, I will use the
computer to show some photos and videos.
Seating arrangement: Students will be asked to sit in small groups.
Then, they will be sitting as usual in pairs or along.
Assessment: I will verify that students can understand and recognize the
vocabulary.
I will assess that the students can understand the new structure and the
tense.
Although I will use the PPP method, I will try to make the necessary
miming so that they understand using the target language, encouraging
the students to produce the pieces of language I am teaching.
Stages in the lesson
Routine: 2´
Purpose: to begin the lesson, motivating the students to be in a good
mood and predisposed work, and focus on the English class.
Description:
I will get into the classroom and give the students a moment to accommodate.
Then, I greet them: “hello! How are you? Are you fine?” St: ok.
Transition: “well, now we are going to play a game.”
4. Warm Up: 15’
Purpose: revise the vocabulary.
Description:
I will give to the students a sheet a paper with a crossword about nature’s
vocabulary.

Activity 1 - 15’:
Purpose: introduce the vocabulary of the topic.
Description:
I will invite the students to watch two trailers, one is “2012” movie and the
other is “geo-tormenta”.

T: “Now, we are going to watch two trailers, one is “2012” movie and the other
is “geo-tormenta”.
Then, I will make some questions to the students about the movie.
T: “what about the movies?” “What happened with the cars?” “And the
airplane?” And what about the buildings?”
Transition: “Very Good! Now, we are going to see some images.”
Activity 2 - 5’:
Purpose: present the verbs for disasters.
Description:
I will show the students some images about the disaster verbs.
6. Transition: Very Good! Now, we are going to work on the book.
Activity 3 - 10’:
Purpose: develop the writing skill.
Description:
7. I will invite the students to open their books on page W16. I will explain the
activity to the students.
Activity 4 - 15’:
Purpose: develop the listening and reading skills
Description:
I will invite the students to open their books at page 25. I will invite the
students look at the pictures.
T: “what can you see in the picture 1?” St: ”some airplanes”.
T: “what can you see in the picture 2?” St: “a boat”
T: “what can you see in the picture 3?” St: “ a pyramid and a general”
T: “what can you see in the picture 4?” St: “ a man”
Then, I will invite the students to listening and reading the text about the
Historical Legends.
T: “Now, we are going to listen to the text” I will play the listening from the
computer.
8. Then, I will ask the students about the text.
T: “what is the text about? What is the first fact file about? And the second?
And the third? What about the fourth?”
Then, I will invite the students to complete the sentences with the verbs
from the activity 1.
T: “now, complete the sentences with the verbs in the activity 1”
Then, I will invite the students to correct the sentences among all.
Transition: “excellent! Now, we are going to continue with the other activity”.
9. Activity 5 - 10’:
Purpose: develop the writing skill.
Description:
I will invite the students to continue with the activity 3. I will explain what
they have to do.
T: “Now we going to continue with the activity 3. You have to circle the correct
verb in the sentence”.
Then, I will invite the students to correct the sentences among all.
Transition: “Ok. Now, we are going to continue with the other activity”.
Activity 6 - 10’:
Purpose: develop the writing skill.
Description:
I will invite the students to open their books on page W16. I will explain the
students what they have to do in the activity.
Then, I will invite the students to correct the sentences among all.
Transition: “Very good. In relation with the videos that we watched. Now,
we are going to do another activity ”.
Activity 7 - 15’:
Purpose: develop the writing skill.
10. Description:
T: “ In the videos we watch about some natural disasters.”
I will show some images about natural disasters.

Then, I will invite the students to open their books on page W16. I will
explain the students what they have to do in the activity.
11. Transition: “Very good. Now, we are going to do another activity ”.
Activity 8 - 15’:
Purpose: develop the writing skill.
Description:
I will explain how we make sentences in simple past negative.
T: “we form the simple past negative with subject + didn’t + verb.
Example: I didn’t go”.
I will write on the board the pattern and the example. I will invite the
students to watch the chart on page 26.
Then, I will invite the students to complete the activity 2. I will explain they
have to complete the sentences, using the negative form and the affirmative
form of the verbs.
12. Transition: “Excellent. I will explain the homework, now ”.
Closure 5’:
Homework
Description:
I will invite the students to complete the Puzzle 4, on page 30. I will explain
what they have to do.
Transition: “Very good. You did an excellent work today. I see you next week.
Bye”
