2. is a type of social influence involving a
change in belief or behavior in order to fit in with a group.
Conformity can also be simply defined as
“yielding to group pressures”. Group pressure
may take different forms, for example
bullying, persuasion, teasing, criticism,
etc. Conformity is also known as majority
influence (or group pressure).
3. - in human behavior, is a form of
"social influence in which a person yields to
explicit instructions or orders from an authority
figure"
Obedience is generally distinguished from
compliance, which is behavior influenced by
peers, and from conformity, which is behavior
intended to match that of the majority.
4. Social control - is a concept that refers to the ways in
which people’s thoughts, feelings, appearance, and
behavior are regulated in social systems. One way this is
done is through coercion, from imprisoning those who
commit a crime to physicians administering drugs that
make difficult patients more manageable. Social control,
however, is mainly done through socialization in which
people come to identify with a social system and its values
and norms, thereby acquiring a stake in maintaining those
values and norms.
5. FORMAL AND INFORMAL
SOCIAL CONTROL
The sanctions used to encourage
conformity and obedience – and to
discourage violation of social norms – are
carried out through informal and formal
social control.
7. Buddy System - is a procedure in which
two people, the "buddies", operate together
as a single unit so that they are able to
monitor and help each other.

importance?
3. Is conformity and obedience necessary in order to assess the
rules of social interaction to maintain stability of everyday life?
4. How do you perform your role as member of society in order to
strike the balance between conformity and creativity as active
members of society? Explain your point.
